The Wedding Shoppe

Terrible – Doesn’t know how to answer a phone. Horrible customer service skill no time management at all honestly has been nothing but a crap show trying to work with there team in.
The Wedding Shoppe Dubbo ruined my wedding day – I really wish I could say some good things about this shop but it’s really hard to find any positives. Look they have a great range of designer gowns and most of the staff are friendly enough but that’s about it to be honest. While my dress turned out visually beautiful after alterations, there was still a lot wrong with it which actually hampered my wedding day.
Problem 1: My gown came in extremely late despite being assured I would have at least 4-6 weeks for fittings and alterations before my wedding day. It ended up coming in about 2.5 weeks before my wedding day and I had to go in for multiple fittings and each time it seemed nothing much had been done to it. I didn’t actually pick up my finished gown until 2 days before my actual wedding day. They did not prioritise me despite assuring me they would and they had no regard for the fact that this was their problem to fix. I live 2.5 hrs away so traipsing back and forth to have them do little to no work from the previous fittings, did not make me very happy at all. I would’ve been better off going to Penrith instead.
Problem 2: This was a very expensive gown however I ended up spending even more on it unbeknownst to me initially. I also added sleeves on for modesty and I was assured it would only be an extra hundred or so to do this. However to my shock it ended up being $350 extra to add on basic sleeves with some patches of lace. If I had known this I would’ve bought a bolero which would’ve saved me a hell of a lot money.
Problem 3: Despite my multiple fittings the seamstress still couldn’t fix my dress shoulders to sit properly on my narrow shoulders. She said she would add in some extra hooks and clips on the back and the shoulders/bra area however it would ultimately have to be stuck onto my shoulders with Hollywood tape. I’ve never used Hollywood tape before but was assured it would work well. It certainly did not. The entire top half of my dress would not even sit on and completely fell down off my shoulders and chest whilst I was getting ready on the day. I used multiple packets of tape yet it did not hold. The part she was supposed to have gathered in at the back with a clip had not been done either. Because of this debacle I had to be sown into my dress last minute, whilst in tears and was 45 mins late for my wedding. I had to wear a fur bolero wrap over my shoulders and chest just to keep the dress up. This was certainly not what I had envisioned and you could hardly see the intricate beading on the front of the dress because it ended up being hidden.
Problem 4: There was supposed to be a hook and button to hook my train up at the reception however it seems said button had either fallen off or never been sown on in the first place. I was assured it was on there but it certainly wasn’t.
Problem 5: I constantly had to follow up with the shop in regards to the status of my dress. And whenever I did call and they were meant to call me back with updates, they never did. I honestly don’t know if I would’ve even had a dress for my wedding day if I hadn’t of been on their case about it.
I placed great trust in this supposed reputable shop, the best bridal shop in the Central West apparently, yet they let me down in so many ways. There were so many things I would’ve changed, double checked and might have been able to prevent from happening if I’d at least had the appropriate timeframe to receive the dress, have proper fittings or even taken it to a seamstress closer to me! It really put a huge sourness on the day and I was incredibly distraught. In the end this dress plus alterations and additions cost me over $3000 which I didn’t really have available to spend. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this shop at all and I’d never ever go back there again for any formal wear. I will certainly be telling brides in the Central West (who aren’t local to Dubbo) to stay well away.
