 AI reviews summary

Feedback for Ticketek Australia shows a stark divide between the high quality of live performances and significant frustration with the ticketing platform and its support. While users frequently praise the staging, talent, and production value of events like Hadestown, Katy Perry, and Waitress, these positive experiences are often overshadowed by a purchasing process described as stressful and unreliable. Recurring technical failures and a perceived lack of human customer support are the primary drivers of negative sentiment.

Pros
  • Exceptional Production Quality: Performances across music, theatre, and comedy are consistently described as spectacular, featuring world-class talent, impressive staging, and high-quality sound and lighting.
  • User-Friendly App Features: When the system works, users appreciate the convenience of digital tickets, mobile app entry, and the ability to use flexible payment options like Afterpay.
  • Helpful Venue Staff: Front-of-house staff and ushers at various venues are frequently praised for their professionalism, friendliness, and ability to assist with accessibility needs or seating issues.
  • Effective Accessible Booking: Several users highlighted that booking for accessibility and companion cards was straightforward and well-managed compared to other platforms.
Cons
  • Inaccessible Customer Service: A major recurring complaint is the inability to contact a human for help, with many users reporting that phone lines are unresponsive and online enquiry forms take weeks to receive a response.
  • Unreliable "Refundable" Tickets: Multiple users report that paying extra for "refundable" or "protected" tickets is a waste of money, as claims are frequently rejected due to overly restrictive terms and conditions.
  • Technical Website Failures: Serious issues include the website timing out during payment, double-charging accounts without sending confirmation, and persistent "unexpected error" messages when trying to access purchased tickets.
  • Aggressive Data Collection and Fees: Users frequently criticise the "astronomical" service fees and the excessive amount of personal data required to register an account or share a ticket with a friend.
Verdict

Consumers can expect high-quality entertainment from the events hosted, but should approach the Ticketek purchasing platform with caution. Due to significant reports of technical errors and non-existent customer support, it is advisable to double-check bank statements after purchase and avoid paying for "refundable" add-ons that are rarely honoured.

The app is somewhat touchy, selecting seats can take multiple tries due to inability to go backward, but the process itself is simple and logical. I have bought three sets of tickets in the past month with little problem. I appreciate the electronic ticketing. A great range of shows, events and locations to purchase.

This was a fabulous musical which was a delight to watch. Natalie Bassingthwaite was incredible and uttlerly believable in her role as an American diner waitress. She was supported by some wonderful performances by the other actors, all of which were amazing singers. Highly recommend this.

Being part of the older (much older) generation and not having any advance knowledge of Waitress, I was a little confused at the start, not knowing if it was a comedy, a drama, a musical - but it turned out to be all of the above. Loved it by the time we reached interval. Show reply

Good visuals, engaging presentation & paced well. Current up to date information on a complicated topic, presented logically in everyday language.

I would have gone and seen this again if it was on the next night. It was mesmerising, fascinating, thought provoking, enthralling - every superlative you can think of. Professor Cox is a superb presenter and made highly complex concepts easier to understand. The entertainment centre was packed and there was absolutely not a sound from the… Read more

audience. Everyone was hanging on his every word. And you could listen to his voice forever. He took us from the smallest quark to the end of the universe - I loved every second of it.

Waitress was a fantastic musical. The talent in Australia is incredible. Rob Mills and John Waters were amazing in their roles but Nat Bassingthwaite is a standout. The show is funny , engaging and uplifting

This was the best event I've ever been to and to listen to Brian was amazing. I am disappointed though with the venue seating. The seats are very outdated and uncomfortable to sit for that length of time. They really need to be replaced with better seats

Performance was interactive for the children. Catchy songs. The Spider-Man tricks with the trampoline was a highlight. Loved the super kitties as well. The products to buy were a little pricey, but expected as it’s Disney. My daughter chose a Minnie Mouse that comes with a Figaro, she has carried them around none stop $45. really cool with the pups walking out! I understand for illusion they couldn’t turn around but if they have an alternative that would be great as they looked odd walking off sideways and backwards.

We saw Le Miserables a fantastic show, an excellent production.

Follow-up  · I am Partially Deaf since childhood, and know the show well seen at least 6 times here and London. We couldn't afford good seat which were OK, sound was clear and yes we have been to Boondal a number of times. This time we came with friends and stayed in a caravan park 12 klms away.

Thoroughly enjoyed Les Mis Arena tour in Melbourne, tickets easy to find and pay for. Admission quick but thorough with bag search and body scan. My only disappointment came when I booked my night for specific artists and they were not on. Then rebooked to go again and same thing happened. It was still spectacular show and very happy I went twice

Follow-up  · would not change a thing happy to go again in a heartbeat, best show in the world.

My experience was excellent! From purchasing the tickets to the lead up to the show I was kept informed of updates and couldn’t fault the service!

Follow-up  · Ticket process was easy as I purchased an eticket and it went straight to my phone. You can access the venue via public transport but I took an Uber. Seating was very comfortable.

My daughter and I attended the performance from the Dress Circle and, unfortunately, our enjoyment of the show was affected by the seating situation. The patron seated directly in front of me continually moved his head from side to side and frequently shifted position by half-standing and leaning back into his seat. As a result, I spent much of… Read more

the first half trying to see around him, which left me with a sore neck afterwards. At interval, I spoke with an usher, explained the situation, and asked whether it would be possible to move seats. The staff were very helpful and kindly accommodated my request, for which I was grateful. However, by the time the second half commenced, I had missed key parts of the storyline and found it difficult to fully reconnect with the plot. As I had never seen the movie Waitress or the musical before, I wasn't familiar with the storyline and therefore didn't know what to expect. While there were many enjoyable aspects to the production, I personally feel the themes and content are more suited to older teenagers and adults. For that reason, I would not recommend the show for children under the age of 16.

I thoroughly enjoyed attending Cluedo—it exceeded all of my expectations and was an easy 10/10 experience. The set design was absolutely fantastic, cleverly constructed and highly effective in bringing the story to life in a visually engaging and dynamic way. Each transition felt seamless, and the staging added an extra layer of intrigue and… Read more

excitement to the performance.

The cast was outstanding across the board, delivering energetic, well-timed performances that kept the audience engaged from start to finish. Their comedic timing was impeccable, and the chemistry between performers really elevated the humour and pacing of the show.

Production quality was flawless, from lighting and sound to costumes and direction. Everything worked together perfectly to create a polished and professional experience. The show maintained a high level of energy throughout and was consistently funny, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

Overall, Cluedo was far better than I anticipated—clever, entertaining, and expertly executed. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, high-quality theatre experience.

Great experience! Kids had a great time and it was quite interactive. Little things could be better though, like the entry has speakers and the presenter has a microphone which is of little use as the volume is way too low and the room is too large. Then once you enter the next room, it is again too large and as there is no ceiling any of the… Read more

groups before you that are incredibly loud make hearing anything almost impossible. It would be great if they could make it more acoustically tolerable for anyone with kids who are hard of hearing. The staff are next level and interact with the adults and children alike without issue to keep things moving, but being able to know where in the adventure you are would be helpful for some. It would also be great for the kids to have the photos at the end not so rushed so they can spend a minute or two with Bluey and Bingo instead of being rushed as they tend to feel like they don’t have a meaningful interaction with them considering the time spent going through and the build up to it. Would also be great to meet Bandit and Chilli too. Overall it was a great adventure and worth the money! The play area at the end is good but would be great if it was available pre and post show. Worth it and hope they move it to other states.

Absolutely terrible online purchasing system. It gives you 6 minutes to complete the purchase. Rushing through to find seats, get through the sign in and all the crap they are trying to sell you along with the tickets, just to get to the payment section for it to time out as I'm approving the purchase. Then, no indication whatsoever if the… Read more

purchase went through. Tel me, how on earth are you meant to read any of the T&Cs in this time! Impossible. After all this I tried using the laptop instead of my mobile. Guess what? The website won't even show the arena map in order to purchase tickets. Honestly, not worth going through all this trash to purchase the tickets - unfortunately unavoidable as Ticketek have cornered the market and done what all good conglomerations do when they have a monopoly - screw the customer. .

It was fun and the individua performances were all great. Natalie Bassingthwaighte can sure belt out a torch song. Some of the lyrics were hard to hear, but the general gist of the songs was obvious - maybe if we knew the songs better it would have helped.

We were very disappointed that none of the advertised stars were on stage. However we were not really enjoying this show, thought the first half dragged on too long. Sadly we left at intermission as we were not the least inspired to go back in.
