Unfair billing. I signed up for and paid a little extra for a 60 day trial instead of a 30 day trial. I saw the $2 charge on my charge the night I signed up. 1 month later I get charged a monthly fee. I complain and they tell me I only had 30 days.… Read more
When I go to my card, the $2 charge isn't there. It must have been pending. No idea why it didn't go through because there's always enough money on my card and I've had no issues with any other company I deal with using my card. This was a Tidal issue. Tidal refuses to address the issue fairly. They're keeping the money. That's the only monthly charge they'll ever get from me. I won't ever consider their service in future.
Follow-up · I signed up online directly on their site. They've stated they have no record of me paying for the extended trial. They've ignored the correspondence I had with them at the time of signing up, as I had some questions about having a little difficulty with the app and I've referred to my 60 day trial. I've informed them of the corresponse record, the date of that, and they've just ignored it.
BEWARE! Dishonest billing behaviour with family plans. If you cancel, your card details get transferred to one of your sub accounts and you keep getting billed silently. Support is obtuse and unhelpful; they will send nonsensical replies and flatly refuse to issue refunds. Unless you enjoy opening fraud claims with your bank, stay away! Edit:… Read more
Screenshot added of response from supervisor after case was escalated. When a business fights this hard to refuse a refund of $12.95 you know they have no soul.
Ethically currently better than Spotify imo (news about Spotify ceo investments). Tidal also pay slightly more to musicians currently per stream over the market leader which is important to me. Capable. Some learning as you transition. No issues w billing as older reviews here state, easy to cancel etc… they proactively asked me to continue at… Read more
end of free trial / so that’s good. Also some customer service action which was positive in relation to set up issues.
Used TuneMY service (separate) and paid about $10 AUD to move libraries / playlists over. Important to consider (if you have 1000s of songs), signed up for one month and then cancelled the service w TuneMy. TuneMY did a ok/good job… but some tracks were replaced w Karaoke versions as I assume the licence wasn’t available to Tidal. Other tracks were loaded but the wrong mix (massive issue if yr a dance music fan). Some Spotify Radio playlists were not duplicated or replaced at all. TuneMY I give 6.5/10. And I paid.
Thoughts on Tidal: Needs more work in the interface and the overall experience. I know I’m likely biased after years of Spotify, but Spotify seems better, easier, more intuitive. That said Tidal is fine and more than capable as stated. Also gives options for higher bit rate streams on most tracks which is great. Like the in song lyrics feature better on tidal than Spotify.
Offline mode on Tidal is not as intuitive as Spotify. If say in airplane mode or no data, tidal struggles and won’t start (version Aug 2025)for playlists you have previously downloaded for this exact situation(offline). Seems you need to located the “offline” mode and select it to get the APP to work in this scenario. Why not just auto move into offline mode if no data detected - not user friendly. Took me a long time to find this, meanwhile couldn’t stream music on holidays when no data / wifi. Awks. Trying to share a song on a train in Morocco w no data and Tidal did not work. 1/10 Tidal.
Summary; Feel a better human using Tidal (personal opinion: considering what Spotify stands for) but more is require for licensing agreements to get more tracks/versions and as stated UI/UX work must continue to improve the offering. Feel like they are but … could they work faster?
Will continue as a user.
I complained regarding poor connectivity and playback and requested cancellation and refund on the same day I subscribed to the service. I was asked that tidal will help troubleshoot the issue, however I get another email advising that a refund is not possible. This is such poor form ripping customers off and providing no resolution to a substandard service.
Idk what to say.. amazing – TIDAL is the best streaming service out there. That's all. Where do I start? - Noticeably superior audio quality (even without 'audiophile' equipment) - Responsive and easy-to-use UI on mobile/PC - Friendly and reactive support team - Easy to transfer content to - Really good algorithm AI - the recommendations are always spot on to your taste -… Read more
Better supports artists via unique royalty management systems - Cool animated album art - Included HD music video catalogue - Lowkey you get a special community feeling - Exclusive perks and content (performances, live event streaming, interesting articles)
The only downsides I've noticed: - The LIVE feature is a bit of a gimmick, but is good to listen along with friends at the same time - Can't use verbal Alexa or Google commands in Aus - No integration with SoundHound or Shazam
In saying that, these are all shadowed when compared to the benefits of the platform, and they're easy to work around and get used to.
I'd highly recommend giving HiFi Plus a go - even though it costs a bit more than the alternatives. Think about how you spending a little bit more per month can help indie artists get onto the stage, and compare the costs of streaming nowadays to how much more we used to spend buying $20+ physical albums earlier.
Money stealer – Tidal sneaky steal money from my credit card even my subscription has been canceled. Their Customer care is worst on earth. Their dashboard will not allow me to remove my credit card details. Avoid , and never enter your credit card for the trail .
Do not honour cancellation requests – I was a paid subscriber. I cancelled my subscription. All was good for 3 months, then they suddenly charged me $23.99 (I was on the $11.99 plan previously), when I contacted support, they replied saying I never cancelled, and the charge was correct. I replied again, asking if I cancelled, why they didn't charge me for 3 months. The reply again… Read more
just stated that I never cancelled, completely ignoring my question about the 3 months gap, and that the amount I charged was correct, with no explanation why it was $12 higher than their advertised subscription cost.
Never never give your credit details to them – Guys never ever register their trials with your credit card information. They will charge you even you have cancelled their subscription. Since 4 months I have sent them many emails, but no response so far. I need to call my bank everytime to cancel the payment. Tidal is low rating, third class customer service ( no service at all). Beware of it.
Scammers - pure and simple – As per the earlier review, these guys are scammers; somehow your cancellation of their free trials may not make it through into their system - you won't necessarily get emails as a 'customer', but you will get billed every month. No refunds even if you haven't used their streaming service since the trial ended. Best avoided.
