I hesitated before leaving this review as I was given a full refund promptly and without any argument when I complained to TTS Osborne Park almost three years after the original tinting was done. However, the tinting job on my car was found to be defective not once, but twice. I was told by Jake on the second occasion that there were… Read more

“contaminants” under the film, which to me indicates poor workmanship and/or quality control. There were a few other issues too. Anyone considering having tinting done by TTS needs to be aware of the potential pitfalls despite the overwhelmingly positive Google reviews.

Car window tinting is probably not something most people would have done frequently and I definitely walked into it blind as the last time I had car window tinting done was 22 years earlier. I just dropped off my new Mazda CX-3 on 28 June 2023 and picked it up a few hours later, assuming all was well. In May 2024, however, it was pointed out to me that there were tiny pinprick bubbles under the film on a couple of the windows and some peeling at the tops. The tinting was redone by TTS under warranty.

In April 2026 it was again pointed out to me that there were tiny pinprick bubbles under the replaced tint on several windows. At this point, and because of other issues, I’d lost confidence in TTS and decided to request a refund and go elsewhere. In total I’d had to return four times since the initial tint job.

A week after the initial tint had been applied and on opening the boot for the first time since taking delivery, I noticed two 2-cm long scratches in the plastic on the right-hand side panel. These were very obvious and not there when I did a full inspection at the dealership before taking delivery. TTS denied all knowledge of the scratches, checked CCTV footage, said the damage wasn’t caused by their technician as “he wouldn’t have needed to get into the boot”, so I just let it go.

The most alarming and ongoing issue was the lack of optical clarity through the tinted windows when driving at night. Headlights appeared blurred when looking in the rear-view mirror or through the side windows at other cars. I don’t often drive at night but whenever I did the lack of visual clarity bothered me so much that I ended up getting glasses for driving - which my regular optometrist told me I didn’t need. The glasses didn't improve things.

It finally dawned on me that the tint was the problem when I had to take evasive action on the freeway one night due to an obstruction in my lane of traffic. Looking over my shoulder preparing to move left quickly, I was shocked by the lack of visibility. I could see very little of the car to my left and slightly behind me other than its blurred headlights and couldn’t gauge its distance from my car with any certainty. Fortunately the driver on my left must have braked hard to avoid my car and I was able to move over safely.

After some online research and discussion with another tinting business, I came to understand that my car with 3M Ceramic IR 35% VLT front and 25% VLT rear had close to the darkest legal tint which made night-time visibility less than adequate. I wasn't aware before the tint was applied how critical film VLT is to night visibility. This is something TTS should educate their customer about before their job is started so that they can make an informed choice. I decided to have mine replaced elsewhere with a tint with higher VLT (45% all round) and that has solved the problem.

That wasn’t the end of the saga. As well as giving me a refund, TTS agreed to remove the existing tint. A few days later when I took the car to another tinting business to be retinted, I was notified when they started to dismantle the driver’s side door that there was a clip missing from the door panel. Obviously I can’t say with any certainty that the TTS technician had not replaced the clip, but it does seem likely as no other work had been done on that door.

I’m giving TTS two stars instead of one because Jake was very polite and gracious when handling my complaint and I was refunded promptly.

Expectations were well short!!! – I thought about this for weeks after completion and I'm still really disappointed. The tint on my car was fine just really light so I asked for darkest possible. I went on the advice given and when I saw the car it literally looked no different. I told them and even though they were friendly I was going to be charged $495 extra on top of the… Read more

existing price tag. I said no and they said you can still think about it then let us know. I got home and called as I wanted to get it done, as I had already wasted my money. I was shocked to hear that the best they could do is $320 which is 50% of what I already paid. Needless to say I didn't get it done and now I'm left with a tint job that I was excited about but looks the exact same. If the old tint was fading or had other issues I would not mind but now I feel ripped off, even though I know that was not the intention!!!

Never again – Very disappointing unprofessional setup. We received damaged demisters on rear window and they didn't cover every window from edge to edge without dirt, finger prints and air.. Its cheap yes but good value no. If you're not after a good job then this is the place.
