TOTO Entry Level Washlet – Just installed this yesterday on my Caroma rimless toilet. Thought was an easy job but spent alot of time as the baseplate bracket is not suitable for toilet. I sent my toilet configuration to the retailer before purchasing and was informed it is suitable . Then told me they can't accept the return goods as it has touched my toilet and the only… Read more
way is to drill another two holes through my China porcelain toilet. I've asked for quote from a tradie and came up to $300. So I went to Bunnings and bought a industrial grade liquid nail and stuck the baseplate onto my toilet resolving the issue.
This is really a basic washlet with temp, heating seat (cannot be turned off unless power off), water tank and dryer. For the same price you can choose other brands like Kogan or Korean brands with bells and whistles like instant water heating, different mode of washing, pre-midst, remote control etc. With these features in a Toto washlet, you will likely be paying around $2.5K. So if you like new features, choose other brands. If you want a reliable and trusted brand with basic functionalities, then Toto.
High technology is coming to my bathroom – TOTO high tech bathroom bring comfortable lifestyle. I found Washing is much better than wiping with paper. This is so innovative product for my family. We cannot revert to normal WC seat.
Excellent electronic bidet and toilet suite - but overpriced – Having lived and worked in Asia for decades, I'm used to having an electronic bidet. Previously I've brought into Australia 3 Korean units. All OK, all 220 volt. But not to Australian standards and don't exactly match the existing toilet pan shape. Recently did a renovation and decided to lash out with a full Toto suite (pan and "Washlet" bidet… Read more
seat. All matching and meeting Australian spec, so plumber was happy to install it.
The Toto kit is excellent. Despite having to work around the minimal flush water volume mandated by Australian regs, the design is smart. The toilet bowl has a split level approach. A deep section for waste, and a wider, shallow area above for "the catch". Minimizes bowl soiling and need for a second flush or use of the brush. Also, a smart water flush design. It has 2 inlets into the bowl, and sets up a vortex - quite a good wash for such a small volume of water.
The plumber commented on the high quality of the kit. He pointed out the large bolts joining the pan to the cistern. Strong and secure.
The Washlet bidet seat is an exact fit for the pan. Looks reasonable (as far as can be expected for a somewhat clunky shaped piece of kit.) It does all as is expected. Warm seat, good spray pattern, fan is OK. Controls are simple enough. Haven't yet tried cleaning it.
All good enough, but $3400 is a big, big price. I buy the equivalent electronic bidet seats in Korea for approx $300. A high quality pan and cistern here is less than $1,000. So if the Toto sold for $1,500 - $2,000, that would be sensible and an opportunity for market penetration. I paid double that, only because I really wanted it. As long as they stay stratospherically priced, I suspect low sales will be the consequence.
