Excelent scanner for the price – I was after a small portable scanner for listening to air band transmissions and was going to buy a cheap chinese one off ebay until I found the EZ130XLT. Absolutely brilliant. Great reception and covers all of the most interesting bands. I would highly reccomend it.
Basic and brilliant – Cheap, basic, easy to use, just make sure you have some batteries before ordering! I can't recommend this little scanner enough.
Good price- does the job – For the price this scanner does a good job. I live in bushfire prone area and have found it very useful to work out what is happening in the area. Battery life isn't great.
This product is fantastic! I never leave home without it! – The Uniden EZI30XLT UHF Scanner, is by far the best scanner i've ever had! The battery life (Battery's are included) last a long time, the scanner if absolutely fantastic! The price was extremely good, $99 and the best part was the free postage Dick Smith provide, they give tracking an everything! It said deliver time is approx 3 - 5 business days, This was very accurate! I got mine in 3 business days! The range of this product is fantastic! I could hear the next town, about 150km away.
I'm giving this item 5 stars, it's just fantastic! Reliable, inexpensive, free postage, very affordable!
Perfect budget scanner – great for a beginner, or someone who prefers to listen to just 1 or 2 frequencies. Recently brought 2 of these for family members, after reading the instructions, was pretty easy to program. quickly noticed it gets annoying having digital buttons for volume and squelch, instead of the ushall twist knobs. it comes pr-programed into banks, but here in central victoria Australia the local emergency frequencies are not the same as whats programed. lucky for us, the people using the scanners will only be listening to police and fire, so fravete Channel 1 was programed as police, channel 2 was fire, and 3 was left blank as a spare.
As a receiver, they pick up very good, although the short antenna supplied reduces the receiving range ( tried the antenna from my ubc93 and these pick up just as good as the ubc)
A down side is no battery charging socket, you have to swap battery's when they go flat.
Main downside, I don't think you can scan for a certain frequency, you only have the pr-programmed frequency or you need to know the frequency your after and manually program into the radio
volume is decent, adjustable squelch etc
all up a very decent radio for cheap price.
Note, shop around. i was about to enter Dick Smith store to buy mine, and just happened to see a catalog for Office works, Got them at office works for $89 ea. Dick smith was $129. saved almost $80 which was a nice surprise easy to use, its compact size, its decent audio quality, cheap price cant charge the batterys, short antenna, having to know the correct frequency
