Valspar Exterior Paint

Storm coat exterior paint – Dont waste your money. Followed all instructions. Paint never dries, it stays tacky. Wish I would of used a different paint. May go over it with something different. However it did cover well
Reasonable – I used Valspar exterior to paint an old 1900's villa. Goes on well and did not run too much. Colour matching was decent too and the paint represented reasonable value for money. In terms of longevity 14 months later its held up "ok" but its not exceptional by any means. I think Valspar need to put a little more work into making its paint more tolerant of higher temperatures. I have had to do a few minor touch ups.
Beautiful expensive textured fiberglass door disaster! – Needed to replace the south facing rear door. Found heavy commercial fiberglass door with 5 raised panels that can be removed & replaced with windows in excellent condition. Went to nearest Mom & Pop building supply that I'm trying to Make America Great Again by keeping in business. They happen to sell Valspar. Only needed a quart of exterior semi… Read more
gloss tinted beige to match siding. They gave me Expressions paint & primer in one. Also bought a pint of gloss white Rustoleum American Accents Ultra Cover exterior latex trim for the raised panels. Painted it with 2 coats in basement & let dry for a week, It was beautiful. Installed it 1st week of January 2019. Temp went down to 8*F a couple nights before 50*F 15 mph soaker came strait out of south and soaked it. In 10 minutes the door looked like it was the Wicked Witch (I'M MELTING!) Water blisters and foam forming only on the Valspar part, Rustoleum un-phased.
finish prep – Used finish prep in the 6 litre purple can and its atrocious. Let moisture from applied topcoat through and bubbled up the gyprock. Disgusted. Trying to sell my house and this is a major setback. Wall was sanded and two coats applied. Unthinned.
Worst experience with paint ever – Used grey Wattyl solar guard on our roof. The brand is owned by Valspar. We had it professionally applied. In 30 monrths it had faded to a bluish white and the ridge capping was a different colour. Valspar refused to do anything about it, even though their rep said that colour was notorious for fading. They stated all paint fades and they donot… Read more
warrant fade. Our point was not that it faded but that it faded so much that it changed colour in such a short time and was also uneven. The Queensland State Sales Manager, Adam King, basically said they are not interested in rectifying the problem and blamed the tradesman for poor application. There is nothing wrong with the painting job itself at all. This company has a very poor attitude towards customer satisfaction and we recommend that everyone steeer clear of them and their products which include Wattyl, Solver and Granosite.
Not happy with Valspar paint – I needed about a litre of exterior paint in a particular colour, Masters had a 50% sale on Valspar I asked the guy in the paint shop.Is it any good? He said it is the best paint on the market. I said I generally use Dulux. How does it compare to Dulux? He said its much better than Dulux. I said Okay I will give it a go. The texture is quite… Read more
liquidy and thin I put 3 coats on and still could see the under painting And had to put on a fourth coat. Painting a shed I used some old Dulux Paint and noticed a big difference. Dulux was Thicker and much creamier than Valspar. Only 2 coats needed. I would not buy Valspar again.. You need a lot more paint to do the same job. The extra labor involved makes it uneconomical even with the 50% discount.
October 16th 2017 Update: Valspar paint terrible coverage
Be prepared to put 3 or 4 topcoats on ---which means double x2 the paint quantity a labor. Compared to Dulux which is a little more expensive and does a much better job.
paint blisters – a 1/4 of my house has huge blisters, after using Valspar low sheen paint. Rep says it is our fault......has faded ...oh lay is the colour.Any other complaints, would like to hear about them .. 8/2/2016
VALSPAR A STAR – This paint seems thicker and creamier than most , the home life guarantee got me over the line, then I did some research on Valspar and found out they have been around for almost 200 years now being made in Australia by wattyl is also assuring. This paint has done a great job on my house happy to recommend to anyone now!
Great quality paint – I used Valspar Exterior Paint (Satin and High Gloss) on my kids' cubby house (Evening Sky walls) and chicken coop (tinted to Daylight White for walls and Evening Sky roof) and have been really impressed on a number of points: 1. Coverage- the paint is 'thicker' than e.g. Wattyl's exterior paint 2. Appears to have much more pigment as it covered… Read more
much better than other well known brand which I used for other parts of the cubby like the front fence. The white and the grey are really vibrant and rich. See http://chickenscoopsandcakes.weebly.com for pics of the chicken coop painted with Valspar Exterior Paint.
3. Valspar's paint seemed to glide more easily than the other brand paints I used and lower in odour too.
It does seem to take longer to dry especially high gloss but the results were worth it for me. honestly would use Valspar whenever I can for any future paint job. Even to a complete beginner painter like myself- the quality of the paints are significantly different.
The cubby house faces west and is in the glaring sun but the paint after at least 2 years is still as good as it was the day I painted it.
Only negative- its the priciest paint I think per litre.
