Disappointingly Below Average – Found it very hard to use as it has difficulty puncturing the can for the start. Does not always cut through the metal as you wind around the can lid. Very hard on the hands, which is why I wanted a good can opener. Bought it to replace a can opener that left a sharp edge on the rim. Should have saved my money and bought a couple of cheap ones. It is disappointing as it did not even do its most basic function, open a can.
Overrated. Better than cheap can openers, falls well short of Swing-A-Way can opener – I’ve used Swing-A-Away can opener when I used to live with my parents - ultimate can opener IMHO. When I left home I’ve gone through 4 (cheap) can openers. One I bought and the others were gifts. Decided to bite the bullet and buy a good quality can opener. just so happened to see the Victorinox Swiss made can opener and the price was reasonable (so I thought).
Put simply it is an expensive “cheap” can opener with branding. Not a good value quality can opener.
Good: - recognised brand for brand snobs - mostly stainless steel - little to no play on the components - tough enough for the short time I’ve owned it. Hasn’t broken yet.
Bad: - hard to turn the handle when opening cans - poor bite, slips on some standard cans - plastic bits feels flimsy for the price. - minor rust on the cutting wheel’s axle.
Slightly better than cheap can openers.
The best Can Opeener I have used so far! – I spent a few of years to find a nice and reliable can oppener. Tried so many from different brands and prices, from simple ones from Kmart up to branded ones for up to $40, but all of them sooner or later failed to open cans. well. It also feels very reliable as well. There are only minor ergonomical things, but generally this is a great tool on the kitchen! You won`t be dissapointed!
