This Charger Looks good and the manufacturer's claims are impressive, BUT – Yes its simple to use. Yes it comes with two types of clips. Yes it has an led indicator....BUT....as indicated in previous reviews, the indicator doesn't really indicate what stage the charger is in especially when the indicator shows the battery is fully charged and has supposedly moved to the later stages of 'drip charging' to keep the battery… Read more

at between 95-100% charged. The charger looks good and the claims of the manufacturer are very impressive but it is impossible to fully believe the claims of '5 stages'. I would not buy and wont buy this charger again even if it is on 'special' like mine was. Perhaps it was on 'special' for a reason? There is no evidence at this time to indicate, LED or otherwise, that the charger does what the manufacturer claims it can do and does. Bad decision to purchase.

Great Battery Charger - Intelligent and can charge a battery from dead flat – Plug in - connect to the correct battery terminals and that's it! This charger purchased from AutoBarn is the answer to my needs. The charger senses what type of battery it is connected to and then charges it accordingly. Packaging states it is suitable for GEL, AGM, LEAD-ACID and CALCIUM Batteries. I have used it with an AGM and Lead Acid… Read more

Battery with success.

This unit is tiny (don't let that fool you) and comes with aligator clips and ring shaped battery terminals (for hard wiring) that can be left permanently on the battery. You then plug the charger into these leads with their prioprietry plug. The plug is quite firm and there is no way you could reverse polarity with this plug.

The LED display clearly shows the amount of charge in your battery, is bright enough to see in daylight and when left alone it does it's thing well albeit it does take some time. Best to leave over night would be my advice. Different colour bars mean different charging stages.

This was purchased as it can charge a battery from dead flat as could be the case with the AGM battery I'm using.

The charger has 5 charging cycles (these may mean something to you when reading this):

1) Analysis / De-sulphation

2) Soft Start

3) Boost Stage

4) Absorption Stage

5) Float Stage

The battery protection systems that are incorporated into the charger are, over-charging protection, over-current (overload) protection, overheating protection, even charging function, reverse polarity protection and short circuit protection.

Batteries can be charged whilst still mounted in the vehicle once the recommended precautions are considered. My vehicle does small trips weekly and I charged the battery to help crank the motor over on the cooler mornings.

I'm very pleased with this charger and for around $90 does the trick.

Pros: simple

Cons: takes time so best to leave over night
