Voltage Intelligent 5 Questions & Answers
can l use this charger as a trickle charger?
I think once the charger has gone through all the charging stages and [hopefully] fully charged the battery, that it then trickle charges. From what I understand the final stage IS the continuous trickle charge. This is how I understand the charger to work.
Hey, I have the voltage intelligent 8 stage charger 6v/12v. I have this issue where on some 12v battery’s it chooses to charge 6v so it never really charges. Any ideas to resolve this as there’s no options to switch from 6 to 12v on the charger itself.
Hi yes i had a Voltage battery charger 8 amp, it stopped, i pulled it to pieces and tested it all, but eventually found it was faulty connections of positive & negative leads badly connected to the alligator clamps, they should have been soldered but lazily clamped over the plastic on the wires. Check this before you buy any battery chargers again, also you can't contact , this ghost company now. Cheers Thud, Autobarn just shrugs its shoulders!
I’ve just hard wired connected to my car battery for trickle charging a car that I don’t drive often. It’s started on 3 bars around 3 hours ago and has just moved to 1 orange bar. Although it hasn’t stopped a constant beeping sound. It this normal?
Assuming ours are the same, mine never 'beeped' during a charge. Maybe a very slight almost inaudible 'humm' when the ear is placed close, but no 'beep'ing.
Thanks Dave. I might get someone to check it out then. I couldn’t leave it on overnight cause I thought it would wake the neighbour
will the VTICD16AL charger successfully charge a lithium life04 battery
Can I download a manual from somewhere?
Maybe contact the Importer? Details on the manual are Imported by Automotive Brands Group Pty Ltd, 76-92 Station Street, Nunawading VIC 3131. There is no email address or phone number I can see on the manual
Has anyone found the actual manual. As the box never had one in it when I purchased the charger. Would love to know.what the red and white led indicators are up the top.
Hi, I can only see 3 settings on mine, Gel, Lead Acid and Calcium. Which one do I use for an AGM battery? Thanks. Saam
I dont have this charger, but if you have the manual it should (hopefully) list battery types against chaging pattern. AGM usually charges at higher volts, say 14.7V (according to my brand of charger) partly due to its higher output per size and should have Calcium in the plates. The Lead Acid and Gel settings are probably 14.4 Volts. Gel is a rare type. In the lack of other information, I suspect that Calcium is the safest setting.
Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have the manual that came with it but unfortunately it doesn't answer the question. I have been trying to find a manufacture's website but the closest I have come is the Australian distributors. I will give them a try. In the mean time I will take your advice on board. Cheers, Saam
As I understood it there are no settings to change on the unit and the unit will choose the best charging method
Hi, Thanks for you answer. I wondered if it was automatically selecting the best method, and it may be doing that, but there is a button on the front labelled "Battery Type Selector", and it scrolls through the options of Gel, Lead Acid and Calcium.
How many green bars should show when battery is fully charged?
Is this in the manual? I think these are a bit short of information - I looked at these today at Autobarn by ahnce and it seemed as though all of the bars need to be lit up for full charge.
How many green bars should show when battery is fully charged?
I have removed a new battery from my camper trailer and been advised to connect a trickle charge until I use it again. Does this battery charger provide a trickle charge or do I need to purchase a special trickle charger?
This unit has intelligence that will trickle charge a battery from flat.
Thank you - it is currently fully charged - can I simply leave the charger connected for trickle charging or should I disconnect and recharge say every week?
I have the 5 Stage, 12V, 4Amp model (PWIC4A) and am very happy with its function as a float charger for my car. I have it hard wired to the battery and would like to know if it's okay to leave the charger connected to the battery when I disconnect the 240Volts and go for a drive. The main reason is that the connector is very tight (a good thing) and I'd prefer not to have to disconnect it from the hard wiring every time I use the car. In simple terms, it is a problem leaving the charger (unpowered) connected to the battery while driving?
I wouldn't recommend doing this as the charger may not be suitable for constant vibrations from driving. Maybe contact the manufacturer or store where you purhcased and ask this specific question
Thank you for that, I'll do as you recommend. :)
I have the voltage 8 amp charger, states it charges agm batteries but has no mode selection for agm, instructions don’t say, is one of the other charging modes for agm as well.
Did you figuire it out ? Having same issue
Done some research on other chargers and it seems to be the lead acid setting for agm
What does red and white light flashing mean? Is it a dead battery?
These are referred to in the manual as battery terminal indicators. If in the Analysis phase it detects a battery "fault" then both the red and white lights flash and the charger cuts out. Indicates battery is bad. My small Pb battery in home alarm system is 10 years old and I started getting a strange alarm and fault. It was telling me the backup battery was faulty. Battery charger confirmed it.
I bought a 4 amp charger and was wondering how long can I expect a car battery to become fully charged from flat with the 5 stage charging process? Does the charger indicate if the battery is no good or does it continue to try and charge. I had a battery on charge for days with it only reaching 5 volts using a meter to check it, with all the display lights showing on the unit. How else will I know if the charging unit could be faulty?
To charge a battery should take 12-24 hours depending on your battery. I’d suggest test charging another battery (even the one in your car). Modern car batteries either work or not as they tend not to die slowly
Will the battery discharge through the charger if left connected and mains plug connected and turned off ? , I want to set up in motorhome and be able to have it charge when connected to mains power without having to manually connect each time
The battery will remain charged. The ring connections supplied with this charger allow for the charger to be attached to the battery.
