Warranty not worth the paper it is printed on – Used once. Towards the end of the job paint started to splatter, Cleaned and put back in the box for approximately 1 year until second use. Second use paint splattered more and more. Noticed there was a crack in the plastic nozzle. Contacted Wagner for warranty replacement, Wagner stated I was at fault as the nozzle cracked in storage. Wagner refused to advise on how to best store their product. Show details
Need lot of improvement – I am running Wagner from one year, it need lot of improvement, the hose which suck paint from drum is not adjustable always running out, it produce lot of annoying sound. Show details
Zero after market service – I would not recommend this product. I purchased it at Bunnings & cannot find anywhere that supplies replacement parts. I called the Wagner Hallam office & their response was that they are a retailer and you have to order through a different retailer who will then order it in. So, if you're in the middle of a job, you cannot just go & get a replacement part on the spot. Incredibly frustrating! Show details

Works for me... 585 Flexio – First time I used it... I was disappointed ...so I threw it in the back of the workshop for three years. Last week I thought I would try it again on a fence and a pool pump shed I was building. RESENE FENCE STAIN water base, un diluted...well stirred. Spent a bit of time on YOUTUBE and took out a few usage and setup tips. Well ...have to… Read more
say..worked brilliantly and the time saving was massive. Totally impressed and a convert from my low expectation. Regretted not trying it again on some previous projects.
Clean up was so easy and had a full bucket of water and wet rag on hand to keep the nozzle clear with regular wipes. Dumped the parts in the bucket for clean up. 2 minutes...done.
Heres a tip. Give the machine external case, a light spray and wipe over with WD40 OR CRC before starting. Overspray wipes off easily. Spray again before packing it away. Tip 2....Always start the sprayer with partial trigger pull... and a beat before the spray area with full trigger pull.
Disclaimer...I have not used it for fine spraying work eg furniture
Terrific addition to shed tool collection – I Purchased wagner 590 model from bunnings FOR $244 as i had undercoated front wrought iron victorian fence by brush and it took over 6 hours over two days and RSI pain in the forearm made the thought of doing the top coat depressing. I was Sceptical of the sprayer due to some reviews but was not looking forward to another two coats of painting… Read more
by brush- finally there was a windless morning today so using Haymes paint undiluted i practiced on a plywood sheet to be used to prevent ooverspray on roses - I found motor speed 8 and paint flow 4 with narrow spread the best and went for it. Just shy of two hours later job done (one coat) Great even coat applied and my technique Improved as i went on - I found I needed to have it closer to painted surface than you i thought and spray movements done at a constant speed. PROS: good power and paint applicationtion-easy to adjust to suit paint quality- two stage trigger so in between paint application can keep nozel free of paint preventing clogging-easy cleaning-i found it did not use much more paint than when I brushed the fence. CONS: Can be heavyish if fully filled but I found changing hands every minute or so to spread the arm strain worked for me-trigger finger gets a similar workout as requires pressure. I am well pleased with this thing and it is defenitely not a dud shed purchase and I think It represents good value
Flexio 585 One of the best purchases I ever made – Bought the Wagner Flexio 585 4yrs ago. Had never used a spray gun before but had to renovate a townhouse that had lots of louvre cupboard doors and I didn't fancy painting them with a brush. Ended up doing all the louvre doors and internal doors, all with primer and gloss finish. Couldn't believe how good they turned out. Washed everything… Read more
thoroughly and packed away. 4yrs later and had some projects come up again for my place of work during Covid outage. Spray painted an internal lift that was powdered coated metal and internal air filter louvres. Again this little unit blew me away with how good the finish is. Just a couple of notes on the use of this gun. I never spray anything until I have got the paint viscosity perfect by test spraying old cardboard. I have found everything needs to be diluted to a certain degree the little yellow stirrer that comes with the device has graduated notches that help you get 10% dilution in the pot. It just takes some trial and error but once you get used to it and see the proper atomisation of the paint you will get quicker at the process and the outcome is worth it. Will clean thoroughly again and put away till the next project comes along.

Flexio 585 – Absolutely marvelous - I hate painting at the best of times but after putting 1 undercoat and two cream coloured main coats of acrylic paint over the previous dark brown - the three week effort was amazing - that was four years ago. It was so efortless that I've just started to do one wall a year. Happy wife - happy life - it works !!! Show details
Great product – After using this spray gun to paint an entire 300 square meter house (undercoat top coat and trim) I have to say its a great product . it took a bit of practice and trial and error to get use to the paint application rate and the dilution rate (when required) for the paint but it was worth it. The finish is excellent and its a quite and light unit… Read more
compared to the other airless spray guns I've used . All these types of guns work better when they are cleaned thoroughly and used as per the instructions . I've watched a lot of negative reviews on "you tube" and judging from the way these people use the gun in the video its pretty obvious they haven't even looked at the instructions or practiced in any way or form. I clean mine after every use and clean the tip and clear the nozzle as I'm painting . Its an easy and simple unit to pull down and its easy to clean . Take your time and get to know the unit and you will be surprised at the results. Its not a TOP of the line gun but its the best I've used in this price range. Good job Wagner.
for the money there great – as a painting contractor of over 30 years i price these little units every 2nd job , bash em and throw em at a mate or family member too have ,,I have got $1500 graco proshots but for ease of use these wee guys are great , reading some of the comments from so called guys who think they can paint and spray ,,, if you cant work out these very basic… Read more
units i doubt your skill level , only reason they splutter is if you dont keep the wee tip clean ,,, now seeing as the unit uses warm air to help the process of getting it onto the surface its only natural its going to gum up every so often duh !!!! and in most if not all spray applications you would dilute down your paint 5 too 10% dependent on temp , material your spraying etc to help avoid clogging of your spray tip my $7000.00 graco unit clogs as well on occasion , is that a reason to say its useless ummmmmm no its part and parcel of the job , go watch another youtube video and stop bagging out a very good little unit

Zero stars – I could drink a litre of paint along with a box of laxatives and do a better job than this rubbish. I should have read the reviews. If you haven't yet opened the box, take it back. FAST Show details
Absolute junk – I had two , first was replaced as pain will run back into motor if tilted upwards at any angle. second one did the same thing. un useable. Buy an airless I reckon. Show details
Garbage – Absolute rubbish. Constantly blocking after half an hour of use. It just splatters the paint out everywhere. Incredibly messy to constantly pull apart and clean out jet for it to block again after 3or4 minutes of splattering. I wish I had read the reviews on this crap before I purchased it. I’m hoping Bunnings will take it back. Show details

Waste of my time and money – Purchased a Wagner W95 from Bunnings for a smallish fence job. Worked well for just 2 pots of paint, about 1400ml in total, refilled the 3rd pot, just spits came from the nozzle. Followed the instructions and cleaned working parts as instructed, tested the paint flow to ensure it was within stated instruction tolerance, and back to work, so I… Read more
thought. Spits, spits and more spits.
Called the Wagner help line and after being told the cleaning process that needed to be followed and advising I had already done this several times, was told basically it needed a new Swirl Valve, cost around $20 for three from my local Bunnings store.
So a cheap spray painter for a small fence job was now going to become expensive as I estimated, based on current experience I would need a new swirl valve for every 2/3 600 ml of paint.
Going back to Bunnings for my money back and some paint brushes. Would have had the fence job finished by now if I had stuck to the hand painting..
Highly disappointed, wasted so much time for no result – Bought this as an alternative to my Graco airless sprayer as setup, cleaning and paint wastage is too much for small jobs. The primary use for the Wagner was to refinish interior trim and doors with Dulux Aquanamel and looking at all the claims and Wagner videos appeared it would do the job. Firstly tried the Wallperfect attachment with 10%… Read more
diluted paint on a door. Obviously not the tool for this job (my mistake) but as per other reviews found it spat paint blobs and even if painting a wall I would not have been happy with the finish. Contrary to the 'undiluted' claims can't see this working with regular latex wall or ceiling paint with out some dilution. Sanded back the test door and then started experimenting with the fine finish attachment. Results here were a bit more promising but regardless of the dilution ratios I tried could not get anything other than a finish without plenty of orange peel. In between the various tests also noticed that somehow the unit had leaked / sucked some paint paint back into the blower unit ? While giving the Wagner one more try the next day the blower motor started to burn out (would have had less than 15 minutes use) and that is where my Wagner Flexio experience ended. Returned to Bunnings for a full refund like many others. I was half tempted to buy another hoping that I had just got a faulty unit as Wagner is a mainstream brand and you would think that they would not continue to market a product that looks to be getting such a high number of returns. However, looking at the reviews of others it is back to plan B for my job, hand painting trim and spraying many doors at once in the garage using the Grayco.
Rubbish – Was never happy and eventually gave up an used roller. Dragged it out today for a basic job and the motor dissolved after less than 5 minutes. I reckon maybe 10 hours of total use. Show details
Dont buy a Wagner product under any circumstances! – I was stupid enough to buy a Wagner W550 spray paint machine upon the advice of an idiot at Bunnings at Bayswater Vic. to regret your purchase around 30 mins in. The product stops painting around 80% full so you constantly have to fill the bloody thing up 20% just to get the dumb thing to do anything. The longer you use it the worse it gets and in the end you will revert to doing it manually. This product is absolute garbage, just like the uneducated advice dispensed from Bunnings in Bayswater Vic.
Slow, messy and complete waste of money! – Constantly having to stop to clear nozzle, it splatters, slow and very disappointing! The claim of 15 m2 in six minutes is ridiculous it’s much quicker with a roller a complete waste of $240!
No cleaning tools supplied – The gun is hard to clean but saying that it would be a lot easier if Wagner would supply a little cleaning tool kit with each gun sold. Come on Wagner how much would that cost maybe 50 cents. Instead they make the customer figure out and find little tools to clean it. Very disappointed in Wagner
Splotchy! – Having used a cheaper Wagner spray gun, I thought the 580 would have been better. Unfortunately I was wrong! Poor spray performance, I suggest diluting the spray and if you find it splotchy, stop immediately and take back!
With some modification it does OK – I purchased the Flexio 585 to do my house. 1st job was the timber plank ceiling of a bathroom. This unit failed before I finished. Turns out the air filters were clogged. Despite their claims, this unit will NOT spray ceiling paint undiluted. I cleaned out the filters and created a hood out of a towel to cover the sprayer and my arm during use.… Read more
This stops falling over-spray from being sucked into the air intake. I also dilute ANY paint 10 - 20 %. With these changes I get good results. To date I have still not been able to source replacement air filters despite the operator manual stating they are a high frequency service item. Support seems poor.
Disappointed – In no way is this spray gun able to provide a uniform finish. It was recommended by a tradesman at the store who used it to spray outdoor paved surfaces. Yes it can handle undiluted paint, but it is not designed for anything more detailed than a wall. I tried to paint dining room chairs, and all I got was random splotches, droplets and runs from… Read more
an inconsistent machine. No matter the airflow or spray direction, the spray pattern was somewhat sporadic. It's relatively cheap, and probably would be fine for flat uniform surfaces, but doesn't deliver what is advertised. It will be returned tomorrow after much wasted sanding....

Hugely, Hugely disappointing – The old adage, if it sounds too good to be true-------------That certainly applied to this product. I was painting the chairs from our dining setting, I started with my old Wagner W540. I applied the 3in 1 primer and had the first coat of Aqua Enamel sprayed. I was very happy with the gloss finish, except for a couple of runs, user error, which… Read more
I sanded back and cleaned up it was and excellent finish. Unfortunately that was when my spray gun started to smoke, the motor siezed with the job not finished.
I had no hesitation in going to Bunnnings to purchase another gun, I found that the W540 had been replaced by the W550, $99.00 was to have been a good investment. Unfortunately then the salesman fronted and although he did say the W550 was a good gun, the upgrade to the Wagner Flexio 585 for $249.00 was by far a better option. A superior finish, no requirement to thin paint, easy cleanup, different head attachments for spraying outside (fences etc), all of this convinced me to outlay the extra for this model. His final statement as we were walking to the checkout was that I would really be impressed with the performance.
The next day I read the instructions, watched the youtube and was ready to be impressed. I had already diluted the paint as required by my previous spraygun that I wasn't too concerned about that. I loaded the paint and commenced spraying. I primed the gun initially on an old sheet so didn't really see the texture of the spray although it did appear to squirt. I went back to the instructions and it did say if the paint was thin then reduce the air quantity, I reduced it all the way back to minimum with similar results then reduced the paint flow rate right back. Same result.
My next mistake after the one buying the unit in the first place was to try it on my chairs. My thought was that maybe it would level to a smooth finish on the work. It was actually hard to tell on the initial spray and in the light that I had so I finished the job with the belief that all would be good on the day.
Now I have 6 dining chairs with a paint finish far below the standard I would expect, a brushed finish would have been far better.
In relation to the cleanup of the gun, the salesman claimed very easy cleanup, just run water through it. No, the cleanup is as with my previous unit, it has to be pulled apart, not super hard but certainly not as easy as explained.
I did check a couple of youtube clips in relation to the gun and one actually suggested running water through the gun to check the spray pattern. I tried this and it was clearly visible on all settings of air pressure and liquid volume that there was a stream in the middle of the spray. the only way I got a consistent spray was with the spray nozzle perfectly vertical or horizontal. Unfortunately this made the spray pattern far too wide spraying, as I was, chair legs / rails.
I will be returning to Bunnings with my purchase but unfortunately my project is already doomed.
Not Fit For Purpose – I recently bought a Flexio 585, on the strength of the advertising promise. They used words like perfect, brilliant etc and you don't need to dilute, but the reality was far different. Splattering more than spraying. Ruined two projects I worked many hours to complete. In one job, I reckon the adjoining plants copped more paint than the target. … Read more
Now I am no novice and have done a lot of spraying using conventional compressor spraying and I took Wagner at their word. Very simply, the product is not fit for purpose and the advertising is false and misleading.
Waste of money – Mine was exactly the same as Kens, over spray, spitting globs of paint everywhere ,nearly 4 litres of paint on 3 doors (the floor in the shed is white now) and then had to go over the doors with a brush. But on a positive K & D in Hobart gave me a full refund.
Best tool ever must have for me – Started my deck two days ago washing and sanding took like forever, then out came the 585 by Wagner OMG 3 hours a couple a years ago to paint with a brush, 10 mins guys with this gun and an awesome finish. Thank you so much Wagner for freeing up much of my day a cup of tea in my hand job done.
Wagner Flexio 585 – I found this little unit to be great value for money. At just over $200 from Bunnings this is an inexpensive tool to aid painting projects around the home. I don't think this is a tradesman tool but for home projects it works really good in my opinion. Although initially I was looking for a fine sprayer as most of my painting projects on the… Read more
bosses list were small furniture units I decided to give this little unit a go as I felt it gave the best control over air pressure and paint flow.
I did read some negative reviews on this, particularly around the sprayer having hair line cracks and splatter when you pull the trigger. I didn't have any cracks on my tip and it work perfectly well. As for the splatter I did experience this initially but worked out that having the retaining cap on tight and lightly pulling the trigger with the gun to one side when you start a new pass I was able to eliminate this issue.
I found having control over the air pressure and the paint flow I was able to spray some intricate pieces of furniture without having paint runs. Most of the time I had the paint flow wound to lowest setting but was able to further reduce paint flow by only pulling the trigger 1/2 way and this was perfect when painting over textured furniture and cabinet door edges and all the little bits and pieces that I didn't want to load up too much paint with to prevent running.
For only $220 bucks, I think this is a great addition to the handy man tool kit.
Brilliant but not ergonomic – I bought the 585 after seeing it on ideal world after being impressed with the speed of coverage. At the moment, after only a few weeks of a renovation I have sprayed a three bed houses coving, architrave, skirting and seven doors with both silk and matt latex emulsion without having to dilute and after getting the knack of spraying with it have… Read more
found it to have saved absolute hours and hours of painting and rollering.
I only have 1 gripe that it can be quite heavy for big jobs and it has caused a bunion on my right thumb where the motor rests while gripping and spraying, so believe a bit of alteration in the R & D department would be most advantageous, other than that, can't wait to use again.
Crap – Don't waste your money worse spray gun ever.Took it back to bunning the tryied to refuse my money back didn't work made them also pay for damage and time lost
Wagner 585 – I bought the Wagner 585 at Bunnings on the 27/1/2016 for about $211. I have a few jobs where I intended to use it. The first was a built in bookcase 4.5 m long and about 2.4 m high. It had previously been finished in an oil based enamel paint so I needed to use an enamel based paint to go over it. I prepared it correctly and masked up near… Read more

I'm no novice. I have a compressor and a spay gun and I have sprayed enamels plenty of times before even spayed enamel on vintage cars so I sort of thought I be pretty cluey on what I was doing. Enamel paints are traditionally messy and time consuming. There is a lot of mixing with a compressor gun and the viscocity needs to be right to get the good results.
After watching the You Tube Videos the Wagner claimed you could spray an enamel straight from the can. This certainly got my attention but
Not so - I has to dilute it by at least 12%.
In one of the Wagner videos they tell us they are using enamel paint spraying a louver door. There is little to no over spay, impressive (I wonder if they were spraying acrylics).
Not so - despite reducing air pressure to stop bounce back I think 2 litres of a 4 litre can went into the air. I had to wear a full breathing mask just like I would when spaying cars with enamel except it was a lot worse.
On most videos Wagner shows a nice fine even spray mist. They even show intricate and very directional spraying
Not so - no matter how much I adjusted this unit it was impossible to control where the spray went and was near impossible to get an even coat
Lastly, each time you commence a pass when you start the sprayer it spits paint on you job before it makes a mist. This appears to be a common problem other reviewers agree.
If you have in mind to use enamel avoid this product.
Fantastic Little Paint Sprayer – We brought this sprayer about 2 years ago when we renovated the inside of our house, we were after something that would do a easy job of painting 4 rooms that we had just outfitted with all new walls and ceilings. We found this did a great job however we did use alot of paint which was a disappointment. A few months later we then used it to… Read more
repaint a cot for our new baby after sanding it all back. We found it did a great job but that we were being to liberal with it and caused some paint folds we needed to sand and repaint. We then knew why we used so much paint when we painted the new rooms.
Then it was time to paint the outside of our house which is all weatherboard. We decided to try out the spray gun on painting it. We have found it did a fantastic job now that we knew how to spray correctly and not use so much paint. It takes us longer to mask up the windows to spray than it does to paint the whole side wall of the house. It had spread the paint evenly and looks great. We have even ended up using LESS paint that we first worked out we would need.
We have also used it to repaint plant pots, sheds and doors. We would happily replace it should it ever break as we make such great use of it. I find it does a lovely finish and makes jobs very quickly. I def recommend this paint spray gun for any DIY handy 'people' for their home.
Garbage – Bought the best Wagner sprayer on the market, 200 bucks. Used it once and threw it in the trash can. What a piece of garbage! Bought a Grayco, now we are talking!
waste of money – bought the wagner flexio 585 thinking this would be perfect for the job i needed to do and save me some time. get it got so bad even after taking my finger off the trigger a stream of paint continued to squirt out. stopping and starting seemed to get worse also, every time I stopped I would wipe the nossel as per the instructions but when I first pull the trigger it would splatter paint all over the surface. I took it back the next day to where I purchased it and was given a replacement, I was then told that three other people had also previously returned there sprayers.
I have just finished with the second attempt. It seemed to work ok ,I got a sleightly better finnish but again as I continued the splattering got worse I now have a horrible lumpy finnish that I now have to sand back and start all over, not to mention fork out more money to replace the paint I have used.
I will be returning this tomorrow and this time insisting on a refund.
I do not want another.
As far as I'm concerned the Flexio 585 is a piece of crap and I would not recomend it to anybody
After much deliberation, pretty damn sweet – I have two large Bali hut roofs. Think a total of about 100sqm. Weathered shingles, high in the air and very steep. My options on how to get a couple of coats of oil onto this were limited. An extension ladder might reach the lower, but the higher one needed a harness and ropes. I thought I'd save money and do it myself (considering it needs to be… Read more
re-oiled annually). I started out trying to get the tray to not slide off and had to use a soft broom dipped in the oil to paint the shingles, which are uneven - after weathering - at best and strewn with rusty nails sticking out.
After finishing one side of one of the roofs, I descended and went to Bunnings to buy the 585. I had already done my homework, and asked the guys at Flexio about using the sprayer with oil on shingles and decking and they said to spray on an angle to get all the tricky edges, and to not do it on a windy day as the oil carries.
The sprayer worked like a charm, not the most even coat (though that was just my enthusiasm and lack of experience) - but the second coat got it pretty even. Cleans up with some water and a dry rag. The assembly/disassembly allows for excellent cleaning. If you read the instruction manual (takes about 30-40 minutes) it explains about the adjustment of the spray intensity, pattern, and distribution, assembly etc.
Since the sprayer can be used with one hand and can actually extend the reach of the spray by intensifying the airflow, I made short work of the job. The whole things takes less than a day, where with a mop I would have spent a weekend easy on a single coat.
Then my wife wanted me to paint the inside of the cubby house. Again this is built of rough sawn pine and she gave it a go with a brush and got quickly nowhere. Out comes the Flexio, put the white head on it and pour in the paint. I notice the paint is VERY thick compared to the oil I was spraying. Better use a mask in both cases.
This time it takes a bit of mucking around to get a flatter even look (the oil was definitely easier) but again the second coat gives 100% coverage. I had a number of moments when the unit started spitting paint off to one side; I think this was because the nozzle needs to be wiped frequently to keep it free of deposits, otherwise the airflow around the paint release valve becomes uneven and you get spitting.
I painted our gigantic house with a brush and a roller, but if you ceilings and walls were the same colour (or if I was doing undercoat) I'd definitely fork out the $210 and get one of these. If you are pedantic about the finish, practice before you go for a wall. I think you'll get crappy spots anyway, but those happen with a brush and roller too.
You'll probably waste a little more paint using this on a flat surface, but on rough or uneven surfaces there is no comparison - and you may even save paint by the time you cover all the nooks and crannies.
Also, I dropped the thing - accidentally - while on the roof and it took a good 3m vertical drop off the edge onto decking. Still works fine.
Same as many other 1 star reviews – Paint splatters. Motor burnt out after a few hours. 100% don't recommend. Show details
