Failed after a few years – This thermometer (model no 6742) worked well for a few years but has now failed. New batteries don't help and when the batteries are inserted the display comes on and stays on and there is no response when the On/off button is pressed for > 3 sec. Now, a little later, pressing the on/off button for a few seconds starts it up but nothing shows on… Read more
the display and the response is a continuous beep. Maybe the probe is faulty but there is no indication on the display. A little later the thing start up itself, gives a beep then turns off.
I see that this model is no longer available and for the price paid it should have lasted a long time. The latest model appears to be called iGrill mini at $79.95. My next purchase of something similar will be a maximum of $20.
Excellent cooking aid – This is fantastic. I was never confident cooking roasts and particularly roast beef but this is just brilliant and absolutely foolproof. You just research the target internal meat temperature you want to achieve (ie..62deg for rare roast beef) insert the probe and the digital display shows the internal meat temperature and indicates how long to go approx. Dial up beef, pork etc..and rare/med/well...or input your own temp. Top product.
