Navigation Australia Fake company with fraudulent claims – Same experience as [Name Removed] (7th June 2020). CD-R nicely printed but completely empty which cost $100 to update my car Satnav in July 2021. Contacted them, refuse to take responsibility but eventually got an address (and Tel number) to return to for testing in the UK. CD was returned 12 Jan 2022 with address not correct. Wasted another… Read more

$26.40 on postage. Website states they are the winner of Australian Quality Service Award 2012. It was copied from another company's website who really won that award. Bank account where I paid is in Australia. Not ABN registered. Millions of dollars leaving country without paying tax? Also states on website "This website is protected under Australian Copyright laws." Do not deal with this fake business!

Navigation Australia - Navigation disc's – Beware people, Navigation Australia is not an Australian Company despite what they advertise. Located in Pakistan. No Australian agent !!! Bought a disc ($100.00) for my Jaguar, did not work, tried it in several cars of the same series, did not work in any of them !!! Tried to resolve the problem via emails, got no where, as soon as I asked where… Read more

to return the disc for a refund, they did not replied. In Australia order disc's from "navshop.com.au" they are part of TomTom. Disc's are $195.00 plus postage and garanteed.

Whereis content simply unreliable – I use a Whereis based product in the COMAND of a Mercedes. It shows "Off Road", in a small town like Forster where the streets have been there for decades! Needless to say that updates from Mercedes Benz did not help. In challenging Daimler afterwards, I am referred to another dealer who promises to do another update (although no further updates… Read more

are available) and charge $275 per hour to do so. In the same breath, they express the opinion that the system is accurate...

Honda CR-V 2015 GPS cannot be updated – For four years we have been asking Honda to update the maps in our inbuilt GPS. The worst example of poor maps was driving on a major highway on the east coast of Tasmania, and suddenly finding our GPS showing us in the middle of the paddock. The next was driving to Devonport at a GPS estimated speed of 30km/h. The sealed road was not a donkey… Read more

track. Our local road has a kink that the GPS thinks needs a right turn, but it is a straight road.

There must be numerous errors if I have this many so easily. Honda failed to supply the promised upgrade at the last service - which means it is probably the last they will ever do for us.

Whereis has 5 Business's located at the one address – I looked up an address to find the business located at the address, and found 5 different ones! Wrong business name with wrong number etc. I think some must be old. Clearly they need to delete the old ones, keep the most recent???

Times all wrong, route ridiculous – This use to be ok a few years ago, now it's unreliable, it's fastest with tolls is much longer driving time than the shortest. Don't trust it for your directions

refund excuses numerous – I ordered and paid for an update WhereIs disk which never arrived and was advised that the disk was not being sent to me. No refund has been forthcoming and the excuses have been unbelieveable as have been dealing with an overseas office with limited knowledge of the English language. When they accepted the order and charged my credit card they are obliged to supply the goods. Strongly recommend not ever dealing with them.

How to Burn $300 – Some months ago my daughter purchased a Version 21 GPS disc for my Lexus IS300 from a Lexus dealership who described the item as a genuine part with the Lexus logo on the cover. Once installed it was patently obvious there was little difference between it and the Version 15 disc. The Tom Tom company which manufactures this product in conjunction… Read more

with Toyota were advised the product was defective, inaccurate, years out of date and omitted crucial information of the main arterial road system in Perth. After a dour and exhaustive dialogue with this company I decided to concede defeat rather than end up with an irreversible mental catastrophe.

This system has been promoted to cover all states of Australia including New Zealand. Who cares? Very few venture outside their state in any event. The route guidance is so deceptive that one can count on driving an additional 15% - 20% further. In short even if it was accurate it would need to be replaced annually as you would do with a hard copy street directory. Only difference being the 2015 Perth Street Directory is extremely accurate

and available from Officeworks at $25. How do I know all this? I have driven taxis for 30 years and if I was to use the Whereis system I would struggle to find addresses and be accused by my customers of taking them "the long way". The other reason why one should rely more on the hard copy is that it avoids becoming brain dead prematurely. If you are still mesmerised by it all and are lazy you can always download the route from the internet before travel for free.

The Lexus company through Toyota is also complicit by claiming it to be a genuine part, however who will knock back a 260% profit margin.

Badly defective, dangerous GPS software – I purchased a car with an in-car navigation system and, when I drove the car in my home area, the accuracy of the map was terrible. I rang Whereis Maps (1800819470) and asked if there was a more up to date version of the software. They confirmed that my Version 2 had been replaced by 21 in 2015 and for $311 I could have a copy. I received and… Read more

installed the software and to my surprise it was, at best, only just as accurate as Version 2. The omissions and inaccuracies were quite illogical and, in the hands of a tourist, could be considered dangerous.

I rang the company, gave them many examples of the errors over the telephone and by email, and was told the problem was caused by them having purchased another company (Sensis) and them selling Sensis software before updating it. I asked for a simple refund of my $311. Weeks later, after many unanswered emails and several telephone calls from me, I have again been promised a refund over the phone with no email confirmation to follow up. The company have not bothered to answer enquiries from Consumer Affairs either. This company sold this navigation software knowing it was not accurate and are not willing to give a refund so I strongly recommend that you stay away from Whereis Maps.
