Wild Turkey American Honey
4 reviews
New Favourite – After experimenting with few other drinks, I've finally found one I can enjoy. My only concern is my opinion on this drink isn't shared, so it'll die off. I hope this review sparks others to try and hopefully like it enough to keep it going.
Purchased for $54.
First spirit I've ever been able to take a straight shot of without reaching – I never liked the original flavour as it was just too sour or something I can't quite describe. But this honey flavour is actually quite nice for a spirit Well I must admit I've always thought spirits tasted vile Must have cola to drink . But I actually handled a shot or 3 of this without gasping. Still prefer cola with it but. As with all spirits the effect is quite depressing,
I mainly purchased this when I had a really sore throat
from a bad cold . The guy in the liquor shop recommended it saying the honey may have a soothing effect . There was some truth to this as it did provide some small comfort.
Over all a decent spirit in my opinion
Used to love it – I used to treat myself with a bottle of this every other month or so, but the last bottle had an extra surprise. I unsealed the bottle and poured the first glass, only to see what looked like a string of black jelly-like small round blobs floating just above the bottom of the bottle. They reminded me of frog eggs or something like that because they were like a string connected with jelly. Anyway, since there wasn't any in the glass I poured i drank that but sealed the bottle to take back. Went back to Dan Murphy's and they were very helpful and went to swap the bottle - except they all have some degree of the same stuff in them. We all agreed it must be a bad batch and I took the bottle home so I could photograph it and contact the Australian distributor - Campari Australia. Sent them an email outlining what had happened along with a couple of photos of the 'stuff' in the bottle. They answered very promptly and said they wanted to get it back for analysis and/or sending back to the USA.
Now the good part...
They insisted that I package the bottle very well for travel, and then I send it back to them all at my expense. When I asked about getting the replacement bottle they said they wouldn't until they got it back. I told them i didn't want to have to pay to pack and send it back and asked them if I could take it back again to Dan Murphy's so that their rep could collect it when next they called on them. That way they could contact Dan Murphys and approve the replacement bottle and all would be good. They said no - no replacement until they analysed it first - even though it had only 1 glass poured from it.
Exasperated I emptied the bottle down the drain and threw it away. Have never touched it since, and since there are so many other bourbon and honey options now out may never touch it again - all because of corporate arrogance. Great taste when served just over ice - never mix it. Black floaties in many bottles - looked like fish spawn.
Tastes like drinking honey – Got a free bottle last time we went though duty free. Love the original Wild Turkey so was very happy, but it ended up being soooo sweet could barely drink it Nice bottle Too sweet
Yes I agree, its very sweet, it might be nice over Ice Cream ?
