Yamaha MusicCast Studio NX-N500 Computer Speakers

They've completely upgraded my setup. The sound is rich and balanced, but what really stands out is the deeper bass and it’s clean, not overpowering. Perfect for both music and movies. The build feels solid.
Great Little Bookshelf Speakers - Just Needs To Be Cheaper – I have given the Yamaha NX-N500 a rating of only 4 Stars, the only reason it didn't get 5 Stars is because of the price - just short of $1000. There's better options at this price point (thankfully, I got mine on a big special). The sound quality is great, each of the speakers has a 5" mid as well as a 1" tweeter. These speakers won't rattle the windows, but they will certainly be loud enough for most situations short of a rave. Your neighbors will hear them alright, but it won't have them calling the police. Even at high volumes, the sound quality is still good, with no shrill or harsh audio. Definitely a speaker for a Family Room / Living Room as opposed to a Home Theater though.
The big selling point with these speakers is connectivity. You can play audio to them in so many ways - AirPlay / Bluetooth / 3.5mm cable / Spotify / Tidal / Deezer / DLNA (locally stored audio on your network) / USB / Fibre Optic. The Yamaha MusicCast App is great, and allows you to play the same thing to all MusicCast equipped devices in you house. You can also output a blue-tooth signal from this speaker to another speaker, truly a whole house audio system.
One big consideration is that there is a propriety Yamaha cable that connects the left and right speaker, the length of the cable is 3m, so if you want the speakers further apart than that, you should look for other systems.
A very stylish, good quality, and above all versatile speaker system (just wait for them to come on special)
Small Room Computer Speakers – The Yamaha NXN500 speakers are connected to a good quality desktop computer, running an ASUS Xonar Essence STX II, audiophile sound card. "Used as a close-proximity computer speaker, the perspective was very much intense nearfield, offering a wraparound soundstage with some diffusion of images and compression of depth. Centre precision was more listening-area restricted but acceptable in the assumption of a fixed seating position in front of a monitor screen." taken from 6 Moons review.......http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/yamaha2/1.html
I am very happy with the performance of the Yamaha NXNSN500 speakers after the 100 hour burn in period.... I would recommend them to anyone looking to up grade their computer sound system.
