I have E18 on Z550, i should update to R15.4, but I have no update on the app....

I have just had a zodiac Z550 IQ installed. the ground temperature at the moment is only 10 degrees and my water is only nudging up a couple of degrees each day - is that correct ?

Hi Robin, Thanks for your inquiry. We do not have a Z550IQ in the AU market yet so we presumed you purchased this from a different country? Here's some tips we can provide for you: It is strongly recommended a cover is used to help retain heat. If the heater is tied to filtration timers, and they are only set for 8 hours a day, that means the heater only gets to work for 8 hours a day as well. as soon as the pump turns off, the heater does too and the pool begins to cool down.

We got all Zodiac equipment when our pool and spa were built and everything has broken down at some point. Our Zodiac heater that cost $5,000 (a new product for Zodiac and we got the first one they sold in Australia) had to have a circuit board replaced only weeks after installation and then (at about 4yo) gives an error code intermittently. Our electrician looked at it and ruled out anything external to the unit. We called Zodiac and they said an air conditioning electrician needed to look at it as it works the same way as an air conditioner. That electrician looked at it and said we need a circuit board ... again. The part is only available to be purchased through Zodiac and it's $4,000. Zodiac won't do anything to help us with this. One of the pumps stopped working after about a month, they fixed it. Hydroxinator broke, it was two months out of warranty but after numerous calls they fixed it. I had issues with the robot cleaner and have previously challenged Zodiac on the warranty of this product ...the cable needed replacing. They did end up replacing the cable for us. Now a second issue with the robot cleaner.... One wheel won't turn. Zodiac! Very frustrating and never very helpful when you call customer service.

My experience with the ZS500 is the same. Error code 3 intermittently, especially after rain. Eventually the error code became permanent and I replaced the logic module and the unit functioned again for a few months but was very weak, like it had been de-tuned or something in the new firmware. The sensor display showed that it would never really run at full power. I noticed that the new module had more moisture sealant on its high voltage section and they would not have done that without a good reason.. Then it rained heavily the other and the same error code came back. I believe that there is a definite design fault in there . Now I have to again check the unit every day to see if it is running and expect that it will fail again. While it might be 'just and air conditioner' it is uniquely Zodiac and requires special knowledge to enter into Zodiac-locked parameter settings. Zodiac's insistence that the Error 3 code requires an electrician because it is in the wiring to the unit after running for months is also typical of their arrogant anti-customer-service philosophy in my opinion. If I ever do find out why the unit fails after rain storms I will let you know. If I don't then it will be turned into a bird feeder or something. Pretty well the most outrageous customer service that I have ever experienced.

Ik heb nu hetzelfde probleem met mijn ZS5000, tweedehands gekocht , werkte goed , tot nu na redelijk wat regenval, had jij ondertussen al een oplossing , ik kan in de error lijst maar weet niet hoe ik hem kan wissen/resetten. Gr Peter

Hi Peter We ended up purchasing a new heater that is not a Zodiac product as it was too expensive to repair the ZS500. We now have a Madimack pool/spa heater. We’ve had it for 7 months and it hasn’t missed a beat so far. I wouldn’t purchase a heater from Zodiac again based on the last experience.
