Zyliss Lock and Lift

Yet to open a single can. Yet to be able to even attach it to a can. Total waste of money. Sometimes sales people are too good. Highly recommend any other can opener
Absolute junk - avoid at all costs. Have had 2 in 9 months, both failed when the cutter wheel comes lose and there is no way to fix. A shame really, as when they work, they are great can openers, but their poor manufacturing standards means they last about 20 can before failing.
Follow-up · In fairness, after nearly 2 weeks, I was contacted by Zyliss who arranged for a replacement opener which was delivered. So far it is functioning perfectly and hopefully my poor prior experiences won't be repeated.

Most difficult-to-use can opener I have owned – I love the Zyliss Garlic Press - amazing! - so splurged and bought the can opener to replace a cheapie (but goodie). It is the most frustrating gadget I have ever owned. It doesn't lock on, rarely opens, and my hands mow ache from tying - for over 20 minutes - to simply open a can for dinner recipe. Frustrating! Will go back to cheapie and bin this.
very bad item – took it out of the box put on the can snapped in half very poor paid £16 for it never will i buy one of these again This is the worst can opener..and that really is saying something!
Avoid! – Maybe in some part of the world where cans are built to a different size this opener would be excellent, but this one opened one can and then failed to open a second. The toothed gear that rotates the tin also cuts into them, and then slips. My 30-year-old Swiss army knife, on the other hand, is still going strong, despite spending a few years buried underground before being returned to me.
Don't buy!! – This is the worst can opener..and that really is saying something! It wears out after opening maybe 7-8 cans, which is unfortunate because I swear by their garlic press, it's the best I've tried. Save your money and buy the culinaire magican, it's a dream.
Best can opener by far – I had the old model Zyliss opener, which failed after 20 years. I tried many other brands, mostly useless. I found this Lock and lift model. It looks great, perfect to hold and performs to perfection. This is a top of the line engineering tool disguised as a kitchen appliance. it even has a magnetic lid holder with a lever release. Reliable brand that works as intended
Best one – Mine is the best can opener I have every had, the best part is the speed as u turn the handle very fast, the lock is not effective after some use, but with normal use u have to hold the handle firmly and combined with locking mechanisms it works well. auto Lock
Excellent – I tried a bunch of can openers at various shops. After 2 years use of the first one, I purchased a second one for another residence. Never had a problem with it. I never use the lid ejector - I just forget it is there. This is my first and only Zylis product I have owned. I purchased mine in the US. Locks on can - no need to squeeze handle … Read more
Handle locks when not in use - makes for better storage in drawer
Comfortable grip
Lid ejector & lid ejector instruction printed right on handle
Bright color makes it easy to find in kitchen
Durable Took me a bit to figure out how to use it - wordless instruction pictures not obvious to me
$15 before tax was more than I wanted to spend
Does not have a bottle opener built in.
Terrible – Maybe it's better with some tins and worse with others, but our opener seems to have had a small operating margin from the start, and none or virtually none now. It wouldn't have opened much more than twenty cans. I looked up the Zyliss website for help with the problem. They don't seem aware of any problems, but they did show me how to remove… Read more
the lid with the can opener after I'd cut it - there were no instructions on the packaging. I'd rate it really well if only it opened cans. As they all say, easy to use, no sharp edges It never cut very deep and now, after a month of use, last night's can of fruit was difficult and this morning's tin of baked beans needed another can opener.
OK – I have always been impressed by Zyliss gadgets as they work very well. I purchased this particular can opener to replace the crappy one i had at home where it wouldn't open the can in one swift motion and leave the top ragged with sharp edges. I chose Zyliss because of previous good experiences with their other gadgets (their garlic press… Read more
and salad spinner is probably the best i have ever used). I also bought this because of the "lock & lift" function. I liked the idea that it had a magnetic feature to lift and release the lid so the lid would never fall into the food.
The LOCK part works well. There is a release on the can opener that opens it up to allow you to clamp it on the tin/can. It is very easy to use and opens cans in a smooth fashion (with my old opener i had to start and stop a few times. It had spots where it wouldn't cut the can). The rubber grip is nice and comfortable and the big knob makes it easy to turn.
I was very disappointed with the LIFT part of this particular can opener. Perhaps i was using it incorrectly but i can't seem to lift the lid with it. I don't find the magnet strong enough to do so, ergo, the lid, as with previous can openers, fall into the food.
Other than that the can opener works like a dream and a hundred times better than my last one. It's a bit pricey for a can opener. Retail price is some $30. You can usually get it at about $23 from places like Victoria's Basement (which is where i got mine) or Peters of Kensington and a lot of other Kitchen/Homewares places online. Opens cans very well with no sharp edges on the can or lid The "lift" part of "lock & lift" doesn't work very well.
Expensive
