Best car I have owned. Put the fun back into driving. Comfortable, practical, reliable and very easy to live with. Does what it should with no surprises. Enough tech to be safe but you still have to drive it. Enough power to have some get up and go but only a 1.6 liter turbo motor so 6 or 7 liters per 100 ks. Being a smaller car, you cant see past 4wd trucks but you can fit in shrinking car parks.

The Honda Civic Hybrid is the best hybrid hatchback you can buy under $50,000. But you probably won't buy one for one big reason: the price. A lot of hybrid car buyers are after one thing, and that's to save money. Honda has put a stop to any sort of discounts or haggling after recently introducing a non-negotiable pricing strategy across all of… Read more

its dealerships.

It's a shame because it'll stop potential buyers who might have been interested in a Civic at $45,000 from buying a lightly used demonstrator, for example. That means fewer people driving a new Civic Hybrid, and that means fewer people telling their friends, co-workers and family members how good this car really is.

This car is so comfortable and simple to interact with. It's a delight to drive in traffic and on some twisty sections of road too. It's far from being a thrilling drive like the Civic Type R, but it feels tight for a 'base model' hatchback.

The attention to detail in every interaction with this car is next level. You'll find it hard to find a car with better switches and dials this side of $50,000.

Thanks to its large hatch, you have plenty of space for luggage and passengers too.

And it's cheap to service and extremely cheap to run. I averaged around 4L per 100km during my drive, and found that to be a very easy figure to achieve.

If my requirements for my next car were to have a cheap to run hatchback, I wouldn't look further than the Civic Hybrid. It feels more expensive than it is when it comes to the driving experience, and I thoroughly enjoy pressing buttons and engaging with the car on a day to day basis. Something that's hard to find in many other cars in this segment.

Sadly, its price is just going to be too high for many buyers, making this the best car you probably won't buy.

Best car and joy to drive – 2021 VTI-S Civic, best car I have ever owned. Handles incredibly well, corners well and hugs the road. Love the spacious Hatch and sporty exterior. Daily driver and always enjoy driving it regardless. Serviced every 10000kms / twice a year for fixed price Honda servicing @$120. Absolute bargain and never has missed a beat. Extremely reliable. 10/10 all round Show details

A nightmare & never buy a Honda ever again – I don’t drive long distances usually short ones. Driving home & my car stopped ever metre or 2 (stalled) 12 attempts later finally got home. Towed it to Honda shop & PVC pipe split. They then told me a bolt had fallen off turbo that seized my turbo, can’t find it & was told it went into to the motor that also went. Peeling Paint – Bought my 2014 pearl white Honda Civic 8 years ago brand new from Dealer, been so happy with mechanical and it’s an absolute beautiful car to drive I still enjoy it to this day. But in the last couple of years I have had issues with my paint peeling. Honda fixed it the first time 2 years ago and then started again and they are now refusing to fix… Read more

it because the car is 8 years old and past it’s time even though it’s a manufacture fault and has been proven and gave them all the evidence still they refuse to. It’s clear they have a problem with paint peeling especially overseas with hundreds with the same issue and left in the dust with Honda not being liable for something they should be fixing. It’s absolutely disgraceful that they won’t help and fix something that is obviously their fault. I have lost trust in Honda completely especially when there is still 2018 models having still the same issue always white cars, I will never buy another Honda ever again and I don’t recommend anyone too especially if you don’t want to have these problems like me. They pretty much sold me a faulty car.

Great 1st Car - it will be missed! – Just traded in my used 2007 Honda Civic VTI-L Auto between 2019 and 2023. I only used the car to drive short distances around Brisbane for work/errands each day or so. Since the day I test drove it, it drove like it was new. It has a quiet engine and is well-insulated from road noise, and it is a smooth ride (in my opinion). Considering the age,… Read more

having AUX, cruise control and auto climate control was great too! Loved the split dash design and digital speedometer. Practically, it is as good as a small sedan could be. I found it very easy to manoeuvre with minimal blindspots and a short bonnet.

In my time of owning this vehicle, it never failed me. It started every time and drove really nicely despite its age. I serviced it every 6 months during ownership.

I did not have many dislikes or major issues with this car. The only small thing I personally wasn't fond of was the front seats, which were pretty firm and not comfortable for long drives, but the back seats were really comfortable. Also, fuel economy wasn't the greatest, and it felt a bit on the slow side but not underpowered. That being said, the car did everything that was expected and fuel economy is really subjective based on lots of variables. The reason I bring it up is that even doing freeway driving 1hr away from home, it still burned through a lot of petrol compared to my friend's Hyundai i30, which used significantly less on the same trip and has the same size engine. Also, I think the paint used on Honda's may be a bit soft. I maintained my car's exterior really, really, really well, and it was undercover 98% of the time, but I noticed in the time of owning it that the roof and boot started fading and were no longer shiny compared to the rest of the body panels. That being said, my car was nearly 17 years old so chances are these are things that just happen naturally when a car gets old.

To summarise, I would 100000000% recommend this car/Honda and would re-consider purchasing another Honda again if it came to it. For 2007, it was a very good quality car and I could only imagine that newer models would be even better. I upgraded to a 2018 Mazda 3 because my Honda Civic required expensive repairs to keep it in good condition; it was not worth it (in my opinion) when considering the car's value + age.

AWSOME 2013 HONDA CIVIC 1.6L TURBO DIESEL 5DOOR HATCH – Does anybody know or realise that Honda makes fantastic Turbo Diesel Honda Civics and Honda CRV’s? WELL YES THEY DO!! Between 2013-2016 you could actually buy one of these things which is a very economical practical vehicle. The economy of this little Honda is very hybrid like if not better as it doesn’t have a battery that can go wrong and cost… Read more

you a fortune to replace, nor do you need to find something to charge your EV when it runs flat, all you need to do is find a petrol station, and off you go another thousand kilometres down the road!

I currently own a 2013 DTi-S Honda Civic 1.6L turbo diesel manual in a stylish 5 DR Hatch. I drive it every day between Sydney & Shellharbour, consuming anywhere between 3.9 L per hundred to 4.9 L per hundred depending on freeway, being hilly or not. So do the sums with 42 L of diesel it will return around 1000 kms! I also must disclose that the car is done 408,000 kms how do you still running on its original transmission engine and clutch. It has been an extremely reliable vehicle and very economical to own & run including servicing & maintenance.

It drives very smoothly and has plenty of lowdown torque from 1500 rpm and its fun to drive! It has plenty of space in a very large boot, particularly when you use the magic seats that fold flat into the floor giving you a massive cargo area. It has Bluetooth and all the usual electronic aids such as reversing camera climate control.

I can honestly highly recommend the FK series Honda Civic hatch both in diesel or petrol variants. From 2012 to 2016. The petrol comes in manual and automatic but the diesel comes only in 6 speed manual transmission. I has very comfortable seats, great handling and are still very modern looking without having overcomplicated computerised systems that constantly go wrong in these new current late model cars.

Lemon Car. Honda have lost the plot – This car is honestly the worst car I have ever driven. Many electrical issues from factory that Honda themselves have no idea how to fix. can't replace because the new models have a bigger screen that doesn't fit the 2016 model

Interior is spaced nicely but it is awful hard plastics

Brakes have worn unevenly from factory Car bottoms out on the smallest of speed bumps which means I have to slow down to a crawl to go over any bump or fear that my front bumper will be ripped off.

From factory every heatshield rattled causing a racket everywhere I drive.

Paint is thin and started fading around 3 years of ownership (white pearl)

I've had to sell this car because of repair costs too high.

Honda have lost the plot. Now with their fixed price sales, I will never purchase another Honda again.

is that we ordered a new 2023 Chevy Bolt EV with the plan to trade in the Honda with a good resale value. Now, we are hesitating to trade a state of the art japaneese made thermal engine car for a cheap GM product, may it be electric. First introduced in 2016, the Bolt will stop being manufactured in the coming months and is already old technology. Just pondering. Any comment or advice ?

Loved it until it stalled and stalled again – I bought 50 year edition of Honda civic in 2019 Dec. After an horrible buying experience at ALTO Honda Blacktown I was hoping that my woes are finished. life on risk. Honda Rydalmere then performs the desired service after 10 days. allegedly replacing the faulty component. 4 months later I am driving to work in morning , my car slows down from 80 to 30 kmh . I somehow manage to drive it to a safe parking spot. I contact Honda rydalmere. They again have no slots for available for repair. the latest day available is after 10 days. I ask for a courtesy car which I am refused very rudely.

After 10 day Honda rydalmere repairs my car and performs a service as well. The very next day the car stalls again in an 80 kmph speed zone putting me in risk ,only after driving less than 3 kilometres. Honda rydalmere sent me home a faulty car. I paid 300 dollars for nothing. I again try to book in a date for repair but the nearest date was 7 days later. I get my car towed to Honda Castle Hill. They tell me on 7th day that same component is faulty for which Car was called back 4 months ago. They ask me to pay 1400 dollars more to get it rectified. The car has 5 years warranty. I try to discuss this with Honda castle hill team but rather than understanding my problem and my frustration , the dealer tells me that he can pack my car up and I can take it home like that, I am without my car for past 1 month now, I am shelling out money on uber and I have no vehicle in emergencies. My only fault is that I trusted Honda.

I am afraid Honda dealership will give me faulty car again. I am afraid they will keep telling me to shell out money by making excuses leaving something faulty everytime. I am afraid I will end up in a mishap because Honda civic breaksdown in the middle of the road and the Honda service can not rectify the fault. I am disappointed , I will never buy honda again. I will never recommend this brand to any one.

Sports Car Looks and Performance – I have owned the Type R since I purchased it new in 2009, it was a stunning looking sports car then, and still is as this body style has not aged and still looks current with today's cars, it's always a pleasure to drive as it is certainly a driver's car with spirited and very responsive acceleration, as soon as you sit in the comfortable seat you… Read more

feel part of the car as it cocoons firmly around your back and shoulders, the small racing steering wheel is thick to hold and looks the part to complement the sporting feel of the car.

It is certainly not the most economical car petrol wise, but allowing for the sports car performance from the Type R that is understandable, for touring though, I do find the petrol economy quite acceptable and it has never been an issue for me, as it is a large fuel tank and the distance travelled between fill-ups is quite comparable to most other cars.

The Type R has been serviced regularly by my local Honda dealer and it runs just as smoothly now as it did 11 years ago when new, I'm very happy with the Honda Type R and have never had any regrets about purchasing it, I have no plans of letting it go any time soon as I still enjoy driving this car, it is solidly built, has also been very reliable and never let me down as you would expect from a Honda.

Summing up, I would say that the Honda Type R is the best quality car that I have owned to date, and would recommend this model to anyone who is looking for an upmarket car with good performance, reliability, and modern European styling. I should add that the interior matches the spirit of the car and looks great too.

Did the lady know this car had a rear seat or a boot? – The Honda Civic has consistently edged out the Toyota Corolla in major awards as best light compact available.
