2 Paul  · Found this thread after being soooo disappointed with what used to be my favourite spread..and guess what 4 years on and it's still a jar of water! :-(
1 Lou  · Not happy – Been eating for 30 plus years and family, but recipe has been changed probably to make more profit.
1 Billy Hunt  · Green slop! – You've lost me with your green slop after 40years.... I won't even try it!
1 Fhenny  · Used to be great, is now ruined – What was once the best spread is now awful and I will no longer be buying it. It's oily and tastes almost as if it is off.
1 Wiseowl  · Rubbish – Have enjoyed this paste for years ,when it was made in Australia. Now made in France its awful. Will not buy it again.
1 Jim M.  · Gone to crap – I used to love pecks fish paste. Now it is simply awful. Just a watery, runny mess. Won't touch it now.

I used to love this stuff as a kid. Tried both the Salmon and Lobster and the devilled ham recently.... not very good... Now I know why. Sounds like the formula has changed.. I'm OUTRAGED!! ( not really ) Show details

Slop in a jar – Just watery sloppy stuff in a jar. Not a patch on what it used to be. No body, no flavour. Never again. Bring back the old recipe and jar and I will purchase again, until then never. Show details

Gone downhill and unpalatable – The product available in Cambodia has separation of paste and oil and is completely different to the excellent product available to us for years past. The product is not time expired but it is sloppy and unattractive.  Show details

Pecks Salmon and Lobster liquid? – Last 3 jars have been a pourable liquid consistency and not the usual speadable paste. My first thought was that it was off, although the lids hadn't popped. Leaves a poor quality after taste and I believe it may have been the cause of following day stomache cramps and bad flatulence. Sadly it has now been removed from our weekly shopping list Show details

Not nice anymore – I recently purchased some Pecks salmon and lobster paste (3 jars), because I hadn't had it for months. When I first cracked the top, I thought it was off! There was an oily liquid on the top which I had never seen on this product before. I gave it a stir and it seems ok, but then I had a taste and it wasn't the taste I remember. I was going to… Read more

email the company and I found all these comments from you guys that found the same problem. I think the manufacturers need to work out whats wrong and fix it because they are losing customers like me!

As good as ever – I remember as an eight year old that my mum used to buy Peck's Paste products and that was over 60 years ago. I well remember the TV ads .A voice over man inSydney called Owen Ainley used to say " A little Peck's goes such a loooong way". I'm enjoying it most days for lunch on a fresh bread roll and lashings of butter. Just like when I was a kid.  Show details

They have changed it back to the way it was – Just tried some from a new batch from Woolworths and it appears to have the same consistancy and colour as it used to be. I guess the company can't win because I preferred it when it was runny Show details

Love these pastes – Love these pastes - read other reviews and don’t quite understand negativity towards change from original formula - it’s different consistency and colour but still tastes good. Show details

Why change? – When your on a good thing , stick to it !Totally agree with majority of reviews. It's watery crap now ! My father , years ago introduced me to it and I loved it ever since but the changes have had a massive impact on consumers. You may need to ask is it really worth the change for profit.???? I don't think so . Very disappointing. Bring back the original recipe andput a smile back on many consumers faces. Show details

Pecks Salmon and Lobster Paste – Pecks Salmon and Lobster Paste, which is now made in France, is definitely the most gross spread l have ever tasted. It is so Sloppy, the colour is a sickening grey colour, and next to no taste. I used to buy this paste years ago and remember it to have a pinkish colour and was a nice thick paste/spread with plenty of flavour. Why the change, l… Read more

just don’t understand. I, personally, will not be purchasing any more Pecks products again. As the old saying goes, “ If it’s not broke, then don’t fix it”. Come on Pecks, fix this problem.

Will never buy again – I used to love this paste! Would eat it straight out of the jar. But not anymore, why would I pay good money for a bottle of almost tasteless, grey watery slop? Well the answer is I won’t. If the company expect to make a profit I suggest the revert to the original recipe and once again produce a quality product. I will never purchase Pecks products again.

Not what it used too be – I used to love it but now it's just slop. You can pour it out of the jar. That is not what a paste is supposed to do. It's like water. It used to be pink in colour but it's not even that. Very disappointed will not buy it again I have tried afew times from different locations and each jar has been the same. Show details

Terrible – I’ve always love pecks as as many have said it’s changed but company doesn’t listen,it not like they are using quality ingredients and the price has gone up significantly for small jar ,so disappointing and company deleted line or gave no response, shame on you having this spread and watch profits over quality is disgusting.

Nothing but a jar of slop – As with other reviewers the paste used to have a nice pink tinge, good flavour and decent thickness for a spread. A change of recipe may have saved the company money however turned what was an enjoyable product into nothing more than a jar of grey slop. Profits before people I hear the bean counters scream out, as for me though it will stay on… Read more

This is crap – I used to like this flavour but you must of changed the recipe in the last couple of years cause now it looks a disgusting grey instead of the pinkish tinge it used to have and the taste is awful, go back to the original recipe, and the shop i got it from only has the tiny bottle which is ridiculously expensive. Show details

One star too many – Used to enjoy this product. Then in 2020 I bought a jar that was just disgusting - runny salty slop. I thought it was a bad batch and threw it out. I emailed the company and they said they had new suppliers etc and due to complaints they where removing it from sale and will make improvements blah blah bla. I gave it a long break and bought a jar… Read more

recently. Still horrible disgusting salt slop. They obviously don’t care about almost every review being one star and they obviously don’t care about the complaints they receive directly, otherwise they’d have fixed this long ago. If you used to like these spreads and haven’t had them in a while then either avoid or be prepared to have that fond memory replaced by what can only be described as heavily salted cat barf. Will NEVER buy again.

Pecks paste – I bought 2 jars of the Anchovette paste and it is very watery has no taste, I noticed it is now made in France and I had a older jar in the pantry and it was made in Australia and wasn't watery and actually tastes better, won't be buying it again Show details

Disgusting – Have been buying Pecks Paste for 50 odd years, about six months ago purchased a couple of the small jars and opened and it looked awful and was of a pouring consistency , opened the second and was the same, tossed them both out thinking it was a bad batch!!!! What have you done Pecks? – I cannot believe this 'paste' has passed factory quality control. Did you think consumers wouldn't notice? It's watery, smelly & just awful. I used to love this product & Anchovette but no more.

Agree with pecks bad review – I couldn’t work out if I had a bad batch then after a few months tried again still the same. Terrible oily, rancid smell and unpalatable. I can’t believe Woolworths still stock it. Surely their stock control must indicate it is not selling. Just look at how many people here think it has changed for the worse  Show details
