so far so good – I have had this fridge/freezer for 3 years I guess. Its large capacity and ability to keep different foods stored well in different parts of the fridge is what I find most appealing. It does however make some rather gruesome noises. I can only describe the noise as a rattling tumbling sound as if ice cubes were being tipped out of a tray. Hoping it is simply an idiosyncrasy and not a harbinger of doom  Show details

Didn't even last 5 years – Bought an entire Bosch kitchen as I've always used their power tools for work and found them to be excellent quality. However this fridge is a lemon. Less than 5 years old and the compressor has died. Add to that the same issues everyone else has reported with the handle cracking and the open/light switch not working and its obvious I've paid premium money for nothing but cheap, outsourced junk.

Utterly Disappointing – Bought this Bosch refrigerator in 2009 for $1477. In the first year, the thermostat had to be replaced. Since then, the motor and compressor have been replaced and the door handle has broken three times. This latter part costs in excess of $100 each time. We are a retired couple so the appliance receives minimal usage and no rough treatment. … Read more

The handle looks like it is metal but it is simply a hollow plastic tube.

I've now fashioned wooden inserts to fit inside the handle and have glued them in and so far the latest crack has gone no further. To date, November 2015, I am on my fourth handle but none with the wooden inserts have broken any further. The big meltdown in 2011, cost insurance about $700 for spoilt food. Looks good. When the handles break, they are very easy to remove and replace with new ones that cost in excess of $100 ie 6% of the total cost of the fridge. Basically, everything except the appearance.

Another Bosch Bites the dust – We bought our KDN4900AU in 2011 thinking Bosch would be a good product. Big mistake, it has now failed, it less than three and a half years old. You would expect that a fridge purchased for over $1000 would last longer than that. This is extremely disappointing when your consider all of the much older beer fridges chugging away in dust garages and sheds in harsh conditions all over Australia. Walk away, don't buy one of these.

Bit of a lemon – Didn't really keep temperature very well. Handle split within 12mths. Ice thingy was difficult to use and flimsy. Freezer shelf bent under any weight at all. Other than that it was ok... Till the compressor died at 4yrs 1mth... Considering it wasn't a cheap fridge we expected it to last longer.

Terrible – Paid more for Bosch expecting quality, two & a half years later, just out of warrantee, the compressor failed. Frige still looks new but is absolutely useless, it will cost as much as a new frige to fix and then it will still have a dodgy compressor. Buying this lemon was a very expensive mistake indeed. Looks fine Poor quality compressor which has a reputation for failing.

Twice bit and now about to cry – We brought this fridge after we had purchased the washing machine and Dishwasher also Bosch. These we have never had an issue with. However 18 months after we brought this fridge the compressor blew and we lost about $150 worth of food. Bosch customer service, poor, my wife waited on the phone for hours finally got a service tech to see us, he… Read more

was great however Bosch did not follow suit.

The food was going to be replaced and we were told the cheque was on its way, never came. Our serviceman took care of us and got us up and running after a month of waiting for bosh to deliver the part to him we cannot fault him, Now 10 months later, Compressor dead again. This time another $100 or so in groceries (who can tell with all the condiments lost and fruit) Using Ice to keep things cold in a esky.

Thank you bosch for failing yet again to deliver. I would love to say there is a good outcome to this but I doubt it, bosch does not care about their customers this we have seen. I doubt tomorrow on the phone will serve to help us out at all. All in all we are out of pocket $300+ and including time spent tomorrow and stress. I cannot recommend this line of fridges to anyone based on the experience we have endured with fridges and Bosch. However the washing machine and Dishwasher are still faultless. Glass Shelves, Bad compressor spot got so hot it can burn you (between fridge and freezer doors) broke twice in 24 months.

Good – Very happy with this fridge - it is easy to keep clean and slim/tall to fit in confined space (we have it on the wall with the kitchen light switch - was chosen for this reason) Cracks appeared on the handles in less than 12 months - This is a design flaw that should be changed in the next model!! Will have to get them replaced. Very roomy, easy… Read more

to keep clean glass and slim shelves. freezer easy to stack. Cracks on the ends of both fridge and freezer handles. Ice cube trays often hard to get out.

Terrible – We live in Western Australia and it is very hot for most of the year and the fridge is made for cold climates - apparently these fridges are controlled by the ambient temperature. I would not buy this product again. I liked the size and once you took all the silly containers out it had lots of room. Our vegetables are going off very quickly. The crispers are not sealed and therefore they do not work.
