Excellent – It is a terrific, solidly built little camera and means I don't have to cart around a bag with camera body and several lens to take excellent photos. It is also relatively easy to operate, even in manual mode, for somebody brought up on basic SLRs for over 40 years. It also has a good size screen for us oldies. Well done Canon. Solid, relatively small, good screen, good quality photos. No doubt I will find something eventually but at this stage there is nothing I don't like.

Good – This is a great camera for really fantastic quality shots without the bulkiness of an SLR. (But it's pretty heavy compared to other "compact" cameras so make sure you're willing to carry it around before you buy) The big screen is a bonus and the macro function is very good. Would highly recommend for excellent point and shoot photos. It's very easy to use and takes great photos. It has a pretty fast start up time. Lots of features (more than I'd ever use). Big screen. Not as strong in low light situations as I thought a camera in this price range should be. Flash powerful but a bit "washed out" for people's faces, not warm enough.

Good – The Canon Powershot G9 is an excellent all round camera. It is tough, very strong built and takes beautiful pictures. Bare in mind, this is not a slim line compact camera. It is also not a dslr but it does a great job. The G9 looks very similar to the previous model G7 but has improved a lot in terms of functionality, interface and features. Well-built camera. Long zoom. This camera takes excellent photos and has a great functionality, interface and features. Heavy for a non dSLR. No optical zoom for video recording. Zoom photos can be distorted at times.
