AI reviews summary
The overall sentiment for Clarendon Homes is highly positive, particularly regarding the professionalism of sales consultants and customer service staff during the pre-construction phase. While many clients report high-quality finishes and exceptional site supervision, there is a clear divide in experience concerning build timelines and post-handover support. Significant recurring issues include lengthy administrative delays before construction begins and inconsistent trade quality in specific builds.
Pros
- Exceptional Pre-Construction Support: Staff are frequently praised for being responsive, professional, and patient during the tender and colour selection processes, helping first-time builders feel supported.
- High-Quality Site Supervision: Multiple site managers are singled out for their proactive communication, attention to detail, and willingness to conduct regular site walkthroughs with clients.
- User-Friendly Digital Tools: The customer portal and "Hub" are highlighted as valuable resources for tracking progress through regular photos and fortnightly updates.
- Strong Post-Handover Warranty Service: For many, the "Man in a Van" and dedicated warranty consultants resolve minor defects promptly and professionally after moving in.
Cons
- Lengthy Pre-Construction Timelines: Significant delays often occur during the contract and approval stages, sometimes taking over 18 months from deposit to site start due to council issues or administrative backlog.
- Communication Breakdown Post-Contract: Several users reported a sharp decline in communication once the contract was signed, including difficulty reaching management and inconsistent updates during construction.
- Variable Trade Quality: Recurring complaints mention poor workmanship in specific areas such as tiling, painting, and flooring, occasionally requiring multiple attempts to rectify.
- Hidden Costs and Budgeting: Feedback indicates that base quotes often exclude essential costs like BASIX, site requirements, and necessary upgrades, leading to budget increases during selections.
Verdict
Clarendon Homes is a strong contender for those prioritising a structured design process and high-quality site management, provided they are not on a strict timeline. Potential builders should prepare for a lengthy pre-construction period and ensure they have a significant budget buffer for upgrades and site-specific requirements.
Allie was fantastic throughout the entire preconstruction process. She made the process seamless and constantly kept us up to date with process and was true to her word on timeframes. I would highly recommend Allie. Show details
Our overall pre-construction phase got off to a frustrating and slow start, with the initial consultant frequently delaying responses for weeks at a time without reason. However, everything changed completely for the better once Sue Graham took over our account. Sue has been absolutely fantastic to work with. She is incredibly responsive, always… Read more
addresses our queries promptly, and has worked efficiently to get us to the construction phase.
This 5-star rating is strictly for Sue's excellent service, communication, and dedication. Thank you, Sue, for getting our journey back on track!
Building a home is a massive emotional and financial investment for any family. We placed our complete trust and a million-dollar budget into Clarendon Homes, choosing their flagship model, the Mosman 50. To ensure a high-quality finish, we even paid for a premium upgrade to Nood Co basins in our bathrooms. Disappointingly, this upgrade ultimately… Read more
turned into a grueling 17-month dispute. Upon handover, out of the 5 Nood Co basins installed in our home, almost all of them had quality defects—4 of which had severe surface mechanical scratches, cracks, and honeycomb manufacturing holes. Throughout these 17 months, we maintained the utmost rationality and patience as clients. We repeatedly went on-site to take high-definition photos and videos, compiled them into detailed emails for the Clarendon team, and politely waited for them to provide a reasonable solution. During this time, they dispatched two separate batches of replacement basins. Shockingly, the quality of these replacements was so poor that even Clarendon’s own plumber couldn't bring himself to install them. The plumber refused to mount these defective products twice, packed up his tools, and walked away. Despite paying every single invoice on time and being fully cooperative, the final response we received from the management team was incredibly cold: we were told to either spend our own money to buy entirely new basins elsewhere, or accept and install these scratched, defective items. If we refused, they would simply "Close the case" and wash their hands of it. Before they closed the case, I sent a final email, pleading with them to carefully look at the specific issues I had documented for each basin. I informed them that if our basic consumer guarantees could not be met, I would be forced to seek external assistance from NSW Fair Trading. Regrettably, they ignored our plea and shut down our case anyway, showing zero willingness to even verify the facts. Left with no other choice, I formally lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading today. Paradoxically, just hours after the official authority notification went through, the Customer Care team—which had stubbornly closed our case and refused to communicate—suddenly "came back to life" .They sent an email, with a drastically softer tone, stating they had learned of my Fair Trading lodgement and were now "willing to reach out to the supplier again and further review my previous correspondence." When a client communicates in good faith and waits patiently for 17 months, they are met with an arrogant, arbitrary closure. Yet, the moment a government regulatory notice hits their desk, they change their tune within hours to "carefully review" the case. This corporate culture—which only respects government authority while treating a regular client's patience as weakness—is deeply disappointing. We have completely lost confidence in Clarendon Homes. We will no longer accept any compromised, defective products and will firmly pursue our rights to a full remedy through the official legal channel.

Tarnya has the professionalism mindset for her job. Her willingness to make our construction fast and transparent is one of the greatest thing she did during build.!Thank you Tarnya!!! More success in your career!!! Show details
We looked at several home builders in the Sydney region but really liked the floor plan and options provided by Clarendon. The sales process was quite smooth and the consultant was pretty good. The process from sales to contract was very lengthy due to site conditions (trees, removal of cross over, etc.). The selection process over 3 days was very… Read more
enjoyable but the consultants (especially kitchen and electrical) and are not very good at guiding you through. You really need to be clear on what you need and review everything.
The construction process started in October 2024 with a 56 weeks contracts. Handover was completed in May 2026 (7 months late). [Name Removed] (our supervisor) was really good and did not settle for good enough. So we had some delays but very few defects post handover. His communication was good, regular and he was always happy to meet with us on site to show us progress.
What I would improve: - Some trades are simply not great (flooring especially) and our internal stone wall had to be redone due to the wrong products being delivered. - Pre-Construction process is very slow and requires triple-checking everything.
What I love: - The access to the portal with regular updates, photos, etc. - Site supervisor communication and focus on quality - The end product (very happy)
Key recommendations: - Make sure you have an appropriate budget for upgrades (during the selection process). Some products must be upgraded (flooring, electrical, A/C, etc.) - Be patient. Construction may take longer than expected. It's OK if you are not in a hurry but other builders will typically be faster than Clarendon. The speed also depends on the location of your build - Do not take the sales quote as your final budget. Additional costs will be incurred for BASIX, site requirements, storm water, upgrades, etc.
We had a great experience building with Clarendon Homes. From the start right through to handover, the customer service was exceptional and the whole process felt supported and well organised. and happy to answer any questions. His attention to detail is reflected in the quality of the build. The finish of the home is excellent and we would highly recommend Clarendon to others.
If I could give 10 stars I would. My CSC TB and SS GT have made our build journey a very positive one. T who was always responsive, no questions were a bother and I would get a response within a day for my emails. Then G, his fortnightly forecasts were spot on! Weekly photos, I always had updates through the hub from him. Then our PCI inspection… Read more
really proved his attention to detail. I can say this because I also hired a private inspector and the report came up with literally just minor scratches and no major concerns. Thank you both so much!

We recently built our new Clarendon Home (Grande 47 design) and overall had a very positive experience. Our site supervisor ([Name Removed] ) was brilliant and completed the build a full month ahead of the expected timeframe, which was a fantastic outcome. Since moving in, we’ve identified a few minor defects, which is to be expected, and the… Read more
aftercare experience has been excellent. [Name Removed] and [Name Removed] (Man in a Van) were a pleasure to deal with and had everything resolved quickly and professionally. While we’re not planning another build anytime soon, we would definitely use Clarendon again. From start to finish, the process was smooth, well-managed, and free from any major surprises.
This is our second build with Clarendon Homes in the last five years. I researched and visited 15 home builders before deciding to do our KDRB in greater Sydney and another KDRB on the NSW Central Coast. While there were some challenges during covid on timings, overall they have been great to deal with. Very fair and excellent post handover customer service. Show details

wonderful. A couple of weeks ago [Name Removed] organised an inspection meeting where a professional inspector came for a checking and I was told the number of defects found in my house is much less than the average of other new built houses. I feel so happy about it. At the same meeting [Name Removed] also checked through the entire house together with me and there are several minor painting defects that needed fixing. [Name Removed] happily organised repair work and we are expecting to collect the house in a week's time. I have not moved in yet so can't comment about the electrical and plumbing system but as a whole I am very satisfied about the construction. [Name Removed] is a very polite guy and easy to work with. He is so worthy of the 5 stars rating. Thanks [Name Removed]!

Well I read a couple of the reviews I can say with absolute sincerity that I’m a very proud owner of a Clarendon home. exhibition version. The total experience with Clarendon was perfect from the start to completion. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and assisted us through each stage making it a pleasurable experience. Of course there were minor problems but most of these were not Clarendons fault, like council and material suppliers. [Name Removed] our site supervisor was in full control of the situation making the building a breeze. The hero for me is [Name Removed], in customer service/support. When ever I needed help or for someone just to listen to my problems, [Name Removed] always there for me and fixed any grievances I may have had without any fuss. I have built homes with two other major building companies and in my opinion Clarendon with their staff and their quality tradesmen leaves the others in their dust. If you ask me would I recommend Clarendon, bloody oath I would
Very happy with Clarendon Home on our new Grande 6 bed rooms with 65 SQ home, very professional builder, and it's perfect house. Only few months behind the expection due to change the PM during the new year time. Otherwise, nothing to complain, and quality is perfect. Show details

I settled my land in September 2025. They show cheaper contract and then offer average inclusions and make you spend more at colours selection. Anyway, slab poured 20th January. started 2 months after mine but they are way ahead of me. I’m fearing that I will be the lat one in my estate to get my house completed. Communication is poor as well. They suppose to update fortnightly but I don’t hear much from them. So far I’m very disappointed with the progress specially when I can see other houses getting to completion much quicker in my newly built estate. Please choose your builder wisely as you will be making repayments

very disappointed with the after care warranty services after the handover. very little communication from the office regarding the major issues I have and it has been almost a year since I moved in. Sent them so many emails but hardly got response from anyone. felt like they don’t care about their customer after getting paid ): Show details
Follow-up · i’m still trying to connect with them through email but not even a single reply yet. major issues are water slope issues in the 2 showers and some electricity issues where few lights are missing and not working.
In-depth reviews
This review is based solely on the customer service we have received during the construction phase of our home, as our build is still in progress. During construction, a temporary pool fence was stolen from the site. While the pool was installed by a third party, it was approved by Clarendon and formed part of our overall building project. understand the contract states that Clarendon is not liable for owner-supplied materials. However, the same contract also gives Clarendon exclusive possession and control of the site until handover, and we believe this comes with a responsibility to take reasonable care in securing the premises. We provided photographs showing the site access gate left open, including after 5:00 pm, yet our concerns were repeatedly dismissed and Clarendon refused to accept any responsibility. What disappointed us most was not the cost of the fence, but the lack of accountability, empathy and willingness to genuinely consider our concerns. Unfortunately, the communication and customer service we have experienced in relation to this matter have fallen well below our expectations, leaving us feeling unsupported as customers.
Mine and my wife’s experience with Clarendon thus far has been sensational. We are first time builders, so came into the process with trepidation over so much negativity towards builders and to be honest a lack of knowledge. The experience with the entire Clarendon team has been nothing short of amazing, a personal shout out to [Name Removed] in… Read more
head office who was designated our file manager and [Name Removed] who was our sales agent from the beginning.
Together they were able to take us through our first inspection of a display village to starting out construction next week, with little to no friction. All questions where answered either same day or next day, they understood that we were nervous and did not pressure us at all. Yet at the same time managed to keep us on track so we did not miss deadlines.
We, like everyone, looked at multiple builders - the reason we picked Clarendon was a combination of inclusions offered and the people we interacted with. It was the right choice.
This will be our family home, and even though Clarendon is a larger builder - they understood this every step of the way.
Sales/pre-build At Roachdale we engaged with [Name Removed] who listened to what we needed/wanted and found a solution that suited us. recommendations. Although she was not always able to give us a direct cost of some items she quickly followed up.
We had an issue with variation costs with Beaumont where they miss calculated the cost. This did take a bit of back and forth with Beaumont but was rectified eventually.
Build The build process was smooth and well explained at each stage. Our Site Manager ([Name Removed]) was very receptive whenever we reached out with questions or concerns. Showed us around the build whenever we asked and appeared to keep things running smoothly.
Post build We had the few general issues such as marks on walls, misaligned hand rail, marks on the carpet. Most of these were identified during the handover process and have been rectified. A few issues arose after handover including a faulty light switch and faulty built in microwave. After reaching out to [Name Removed] these were addressed quickly.
In all we are very happy with our new home, we found Clarendon good to deal with and feel very fortunate to have a great Site Manager.

Clarendon just wanted our money and pressured us to pay $3500 at tender appointment, we demanded our money back but they refused. Our advice is Dont rush to pay if you are not fully understand tender variations. Anything is not in favour of their interest, they wont tell unless you ask Show details
We built a 6 bed 4 bath house with Clarendon. We demolished our existing house and rebuilt the new house on the same block. build. Throughout the build, we were not contacted regularly and we had to chase them for information about progress. We were advised by the builder that frame stage was complete and to send the payment through. We had it inspected and there were incomplete bolts, missing strapping, no tie-downs which were all needed to comply with the HIA contract. This delayed the project another month while waiting for them to complete it properly. We had numerous issues onsite as the house was built and assurances that everything would be made good in the end, however this was not our experience on a number of factors and even after 12months post-construction we still had outstanding issues unresolved and a QBCC direction to rectify notice to the builder. The house took 2.5 years to build from when we put the deposit down (very slow contract development period - allow 5-6 months). We had waterproofing fail in our bed 2 ensuite which impacted the ensuite, adjoining bedroom and downstairs garage. The trades they sent out to fix issues were inexperienced and often caused more damage than they fixed. Communication or lack thereof was probably the number one disappointment factor and tarnished the whole experience. I would not trust them to build another house for us and would try to find a more reputable builder with their own trades on the books. To their credit, eventually we had most of the issues resolved, but it took a long time and multiple attempts to get things sorted. Had the house been built in good time and communication was regular (every week to 2 weeks), we probably would have been a bit happier. But as it was, it seemed like they weren't interested in our problems and that just creates a whole lot of anxiety when your whole life's savings are going into a project. Glad it's over now.
