Built with Dale alcock 10 years ago and had a great experience with great communication and good quality materials and workmanship and thats why I came back.

This time around I was deciding between dales again and celebrations and decided to go celebrations because they were better value and I was told they use all the same trades and site managers and we could still choose the same finishes and upgrades so I expected the same kind of treatment as last time. Bad decision.

The communcation throughout the entire process was garbage, they kept stuffing up and missing things or putting wrong items in the house because they had no attention to detail and were going off wrong plans. When we tried to make contact we would have to leave messages over and over and id never get a call back because everyone is "always in a meeting or away from their desk". When we wanted to change small things or pointed out wrong things they made it look like it was our fault and wanted to charge us $500 every time. Luckily we had signed documentation to show otherwise.

Ive moved in and its been 3 weeks and Im still chasing them up to fix things from PCI and ive found extra issues which ive raised and been told "are well you had your PCI inspection so not our fault". They were suppose to rectify all items within the 10 days between inspection and final payment and I am still waiting for items to be fixed or finished.

They never cleaned our house properly too, dust and sand everywhere in the cupboards, on the cupboards, doors, floors, windows, trims the whole lot. Myself and my wife had to clean all the cupboards as we put things in because they didnt do anything, id say at best they mopped the floor.

The paint they provided was terrible quality wattyl brand, you hardly touch it and marks and you cant get them off the walls no matter how much you scrub, even my home theatre installer pointed out he ever so slightly rubbed the wall and couldnt get the mark off the wall. My house is 3 weeks old and looks like its been lived in already for 2 years. I painted my last house with dulux before we sold it and there wasnt a mark on it for 6 months prior to moving with 2 kids and was so easy to just wipe off!

My airconditioning unit failed the first week we moved in so had to get that fixed as soon as we got in the house because they didnt test it properly.

We requested a slight change to the downlight locations before being installed so that fans didnt cause shadowing and also to reduce moving them after hand over because its very hard to patch 90mm downlight holes and they refused to just move some downlights out a tiny bit. We had to pay them $500 and forfeit all our downlights including installation because they were unwilling to be cooperate.

We found out we didnt have a cut out for the dryer so now I have to pay someone to come and cut my cabinets so i can fit my drain pipe and water line.

Now im dealing with a rain overflow issue where rain water gushes off my roof and onto the ground when it rains because there is no gutters/downpipes on the top section of my roof and so when the water hits the valley and runs into the lower gutter it just rushes off the roof and all over my driveway/porch. Going to need a roofer to come and provide extra drainage and fix the run off issues I have now.

Honestly, I could go on and on.

I will never build with ABN group again, dale alcock doesnt stand behind his brand anymore and they hide behind smoke and mirrors with their fancy building. Just the sheer amount of staff change overs in the 9 months I built with them is proof that no one wants to work there either.

Celebrations? Better going with BGC! Avoid at all costs.

As first-time home builders, we were completely unfamiliar with many aspects of the process and the numerous steps involved. Both Adam and Sabrina consistently demonstrated patience, professionalism and a genuine willingness to support us, taking the time to explain each stage in detail and ensuring we felt informed and comfortable throughout the process.

They also went above and beyond their core responsibilities by providing additional information, guidance and support in areas that were sometimes outside the direct scope of their respective roles. Their commitment to customer service made a significant difference to our experience.

Throughout the journey, we identified a few areas where responsibilities appeared somewhat unclear or overlapped between teams; or between the builder and client. We provided feedback on these aspects as they arose, with the intention of contributing to continuous improvement and helping to streamline the experience for future home buyers.

While some stages seemed to take longer than we had initially anticipated, we acknowledge that this perception is based solely on our limited understanding of the work involved behind the scenes, such as engineering assessments, scheduling and other essential pre-construction activities.

Sabrina was particularly proactive in keeping us updated on progress and maintaining clear communication throughout the process. Adam was always approachable, readily available to answer questions, and willing to step in whenever necessary to help resolve issues and keep things moving forward.

Mark, our Sales Consultant at the Austral Display Centre, who went above and beyond from the very beginning. Mark was incredibly thorough, patient and always willing to answer our many questions and take the time to explain everything clearly. He made the initial stages of the process such a positive and enjoyable experience, and we really appreciated the level of care and attention he gave us.

Our Site Supervisor, Jack, was also absolutely impeccable throughout the build. He kept us updated regularly, made himself available whenever we had questions, and made what can often be a stressful process feel easy and manageable. Jack was fantastic to work with and played a huge part in making our building experience so positive. He also managed to have our home completed within a very fast timeframe, which we were extremely happy with.

We would also like to give a special mention to Jordan Perez from Jedge Carpentry, who completed meticulous work throughout our fully cladded home, including the interior fit-outs. The quality and attention to detail in his work was exceptional, and we were very happy with the finished result.

The main area where we feel there is room for improvement is the pre-construction stage, particularly communication and clarity around selections and costs. During our colour selection process, we chose kitchen cabinetry that we understood to be part of our selections, only to find that it had not been included in the costing. Clearer communication and confirmation of inclusions and costs during this stage would make the process much smoother for future clients.

That said, once construction commenced, our experience was fantastic. The communication, workmanship, support and speed of the build exceeded our expectations, and we are absolutely thrilled with our new home.

First of all, Brad supervised the construction carefully in details and time frame. When I received the house, the quality was a satisfactory! Everything felt well finished and up to a high standard of workmanship.

As a homeowner without professional building knowledge, I had many questions both before and after handover. I emailed Brad quite often in the period of time: close to the settlement and even a few weeks after settlement, and he was always patient, explained the things clearly, and willing to help if he can.

What I appreciated most was I can feel that Brad didn’t simply see his job as building houses, but he genuinely understood the excitement, concerns and stresses that come with building and receiving a new home and moving in. He always tried to make things easier from the owner’s perspective, and that made the whole handover and move-in experience much smoother.

telling us whatever was necessary to get us to sign the contract. We were given a timeline that turned out to be very inaccurate, which set the wrong expectations from the outset. The biggest issue throughout the build has been communication. Getting a straight answer has been extremely difficult, and we constantly felt like we had to chase Home Group for updates. Responses were often generic, stock-standard replies rather than actually addressing our specific questions or concerns. We were also told that Home Group has standard company processes, yet our experience was that every client seems to be treated differently. This was particularly frustrating when trying to understand why certain things were being handled the way they were. One of the most disappointing experiences was when Home Group refused to assist our bank with the final inspection before payment was made. Given the amount of money involved in building a home, we found this extremely frustrating and unreasonable. The client portal was also very disappointing. It was rarely updated and provided very little useful information about the actual progress of our build. Fortunately, we lived around the corner from the site, so we were able to see the progress ourselves rather than relying on the portal. To be fair, there were some positives. Construction itself was relatively quick and there were minimal delays overall. The brickwork did take around six weeks when we were expecting approximately 2–4 weeks, but this was being completed by a single bricklayer, so I don't believe he should be blamed for that delay. Ultimately, I would not build with Home Group again. The biggest issue wasn't necessarily the construction itself — it was the ongoing lack of communication, transparency and consistency throughout the process. With so much information and so many customer experiences now available online, builders should understand that clients can see how other customers are being treated. Consistent communication and transparency should be a basic part of the building experience, particularly when customers are making such a significant financial commitment. The house may have been built relatively quickly, but the customer experience left a lot to be desired.

My harsh rating pertains more to my disappointment in what was delivered compared to what I expected.

Office staff were atypically very responsive, specifically my construction project planner.

My build was a slightly different story though, I had 3 changes of site supervisor across the build and come the PCI items such as caulking for the windows were not present, delaying the certificate of occupancy and my settlement.

Another item which I found disappointing was that the electricity connection costs were not covered in the build, despite hearing from others that their builders covered these costs.

To be fair, there’s no legal fault on Henley’s end, it was mentioned in the contract, but I feel like when you’re dealing with a first home owner (a large portion of the customer base) and budgeting is especially relevant, mentioning a $1100+ charge is the transparent thing to do.

I also do not appreciate having to pay hundreds of dollars in response to my private inspectors reports, furthermore, I find it disappointing I even had to consider hiring a private inspector, a builder with a reputation like Henley should not need to have their works audited by a third party.

I will try keep the review relatively short, but the conclusion is that, Henley is probably one of if not the best volume builders, but you should still exercise diligence and take as many precautions as you can.
