Handle broke then it went up in smoke! – Got given this second hand, had it for about a year working fun until all of a sudden the handle broke and the control panel started smoking all within a week. Good thing we weren’t asleep when it happened otherwise the whole house could have burnt down. Now the whole kitchen smells of toxic smoke. Guess we’ll be doing the dishes by hand for a while. Excellent dishwasher – I've had this dishwasher for 14 years and it's just died. A large family of 6 plus whoever else was living with us at the time, this poor machine has been thoroughly used. We've had absolutely no issues with it until it died of old age mid-cycle. I would've been thrilled with 10 years, even 5 years, but 14 years is outstanding!
Ruined a $80,000 solid timber parquet floor – Inlet valve stuck open and outlet hose split with the heat of the water and constant running water at 4.30 in the morning. Like everyone else, we are on our third handle and had another spare waiting to replace another cracked handle. Stay away from this machine Show details

No hot water – To whom it may concern We have a dishlex DX203 this is the second dishlex dishwasher we have had over mean years , this one is about (maybe 4 year old ) been a very reliable machine have had no problems, until the other night my wife informed me that the dishes were cold , we have run it a couple of times over the last day or two , yep its a… Read more · 2

Great Dishwasher – Hi all Had this dishwasher since 2012 and we use it daily everynight with no problems. The only thing was the door handle snapped and have ordered a replacement control panel as it is part of the handle. Very quiet dishwasher and washed perfectly everytime. The 30 min wash programme is excellent for water saving and time. Will buy another dishlex in the future Thanks Show details
Smoking control panel – Put a load of dishes on was getting ready to head to bed when i smelt a terrible burning smell. Went into the kitchen to find significant amount of smoke pouring from around the door and control panel of my dishwasher. Terrified me what if id gone to bed could have caught fire.. Show reply

Dangerous catches fire identical problem to the 303 models .ACCC recall on 18000 of the 303 – The recall obviously missed the 203 model however a quick check on reviews customers stating front of machine getting extremely hot, burning electical smell followed by smoke coming from machine leading to failure. Alerted the ACCC about this either the machines have the same boards or power connects as the 303models. Electrolux CEO stated due to… Read more
power inlet arching out a small contained fire occurs in the PCB board followed by smoke and melting of boards plastic housing. Identical situation happened to us the other night, many customers reviews stating the same problem some how never recalled! Mind blowing, the fix, was that electrical tape gets wrapped round the power connector to the board. Rang Electrolux wanted to speak to technical about the problem inform no phone number for technical. Rang ACCC instead report taken. If Electrolux wish to contact me mobile [Contact Details Removed]. Same issues as everyone else but 7 yrs on – We bought our dx203 back in 2012 so I dont know if they still make them , Our machine has had the same issues as everyone else with the wheels falling off and replacements not staying on , during this time period we have replaced the front panel about 3 yrs ago after the handle broke ( very easy fix ) . The machine stopped draining which we… Read more
discovered was our fault for not running it on the hotter setting with the dissolving dishwasher tablet wrappers we were using and the wrapper would not devolve completely and gum up the drain . Our machine is used twice daily every day with teenagers and apart from the tablet wrapper issues which we now know of it has run like a champ . We are also on gravity feed tank water .. 3 stars is because of the common problems otherwise Id give it higher , it has been a good machine for the amount of use and abuse it cops
It is a disaster – The dishwasher is poorly designed and constructed from cheap, inferior quality parts. Even with the strongest cycle, it does not clean the dishes. It often fails to drain properly. It leaks. It is a waste of money.

was happy until I had a replacement to compare it to – It faithfully washed dishes for at least at least six years. After about a year of (daily) use, the bottom of the cutlery box started to perish. I cut the bottom out and replaced it with steel mesh (gutter guard) which solved the problem. The door handle broke several years ago. At the time I blamed my partner's heavy handedness but I read on… Read more
product review that it's a common failing with similar Dishlex models. Luckily the installation meant we could simply grip the side of the door to open it, which we've been doing ever since. About two years ago the drawer rollers perished. New ones cost about $40 online (epay) and clipped on. About a year ago I had cause to crawl under the bench and noticed that the hose had been leaking, possibly for months. I used a spare washing machine hose and continued using the dishwasher for a few months until it it stopped heating. From day one I accepted the limited stacking options and minor failings because I'd bought the cheapest dishwasher I could find, however the replacement was no more expensive and it feels like I've gone from a Falcon to a Rolls Royce. I obviously haven't had it long enough to comment on its durability but the stacking options are much better and even the click of the door closing feels like refined machinery compared to the Dishlex. I'm grateful for it's service but wouldn't get another Dishlex.
Broken Handle – Handle is broken. I thought I did in wrong way at the beginning. Now see many broken handles, so maybe it is quality issue. The worse thing is the replacement part is around $150 so expensive.
Garbage – Handle broken, rollers and clips constantly failed - the soap tray failed in the first 3 months and wasn’t fixable without more drama than the dishwasher was worth. rubbish dishwasher that’s going to the recyclers today. Show details

Handle broken – Handle broken Tried to call Operator hanged up on me during my call. Was waiting to transfer me to someone else. However it was dropped and I was unable to make the enquiry
Poor wash, 3 times for technicians to fix - never again – You must prewash dishes before loading otherwise will not clean, wheels broken from draw - had to buy a new dinner set. 3 times for a technician thankfully we have extended warranty in 4 years. I thought we were buying a good brand but never again. Front door handle broke and was fixed by one of the technicians. Show details
Broken Handle, Dangerous serrations left where handle used to be – DIshwasher was already existing when home purchased. Handle broke after 6 months of being here. Obtained genuine Dishlex handle from 3rd party in Feb 2016. Broken again. Plastics used in this model are very substandard. Doesn't surprise me this dishwasher has been discontinued. I certainly hope Dishlex / Electrolux have changed the chemical… Read more
compounds in their plastics for any new products they manufacture. We will now AGAIN replace the part however this time I plan to reinforce handle with Bright Red Gaffa Tape (a visual permanent reminder of how SHODDY this product is)
Very poor engineering design and quality – Same problem as all the other DX203Wk dishwashers and only 4 years old with the door handle breaking away on one side of the handle. Dangerous trying to open and close the door because of the very sharp broken plastic edges. We are also very worried about all the other problems and potential fire risks with this model as listed in the reviews. … Read more
Being pensioners we do not know how we are going to fix the problem.
Having had 6 previous Electrolux products we are very disappointed in the design and quality of this DX203WK dishwasher.
Nearly started a housefire!!!!! – Oh my god, our machine just smoked out our house (sounded like popcorn was cooking, went to look and the dishwasher was pouring smoke!!!!!). So lucky we were home and my husband reached for the switch, not the door handle - it was burning hot!!!!! Now the smell wont clear out of our house and Im pretty sure I shouldnt be breathing it in at 33… Read more

Broken handle, unusable – The design is terrible, the handle has snapped off making the unit almost impossible and very dangerous to use. I can’t find any solution besides replacing the front plate. Waiting for a response to see whether this is possible. Otherwise I have to replace the whole unit! The wash is average, I was satisfied with the machine until this happened. Would not recommend. Broken handle and Terrible wash – Will never buy a dishes again. The handle broke after a year which is ridiculous. and it never washes dishes properly as always leaves residue on dishes even in pots mode. Definitely a waste of money. My secondhand dishwasher was so much better. Never buy a dishlex again. Do not recommend. Show details

Broken Handle – We found it wasnt the best cleaning dishwasher when we moved in. It never used to dry dishes. But about half way through tenancy the dishwasher handle just cracked. This was repaired by owners with a cheap glue job. Now they are trying to get us to pay for whole facing ($275). Even though i believe its wear and tear as it was simply used for what… Read more
it was intended -to open dishwasher, i have read this is a common ocvurance with this dishwasher. Would love to hear from some that have had same problem.
Toxic, acrid smell – The dishwasher was bought in 2011, was not unpacked till 2014, has worked well till now. Put the dishwasher on and went to work. Others in the house called me to say there was a dreadful burning smell in the house. Came home. We figured it was the dishwasher as there was residual smell coming from it. We thought we'd try running it with it sitting… Read more
out of its normal position. We noticed the black insulation got really hot and was almost melted - it could be pushed in with your finger. And the toxic smell was back. Given all the other reports similar to this, I don't know why it has not been recalled.

I think ours just died – Our dishlex DX203 just stopped working. All the lights are on but nothing happens when I press a cycle. The bottom is full of water. Our handle also snapped off a while ago. Too expensive to replace and the caster wheels are all shot. Never been a great wash and for a Dishlex it’s so noisy! Won’t buy another one. Show details
broken handle – My handle broke about 4 months ago and ever since then the dishwasher stops during the cycle. So I have to keep pressing the buttons to get it restarted. Concerned about fire issue as per others reviewers Extremely happy with the dishwasher up until now Would greatly appreciate feedback on this matter Show details
BAD HANDLE DESIGN ON THE DX203 – It cleans perfectly and until now, not had a problem. Owner purchased the dishwasher just as we moved in. Just last week, however, the plastic handle snapped almost completely off and now having read the other reviews I am worried that it may be a fire hazard. I have contacted customer care and I am hoping to hear back from you asap with regards to organising a replacement plastic front piece. Linda Show details
Broken Door Handle – Same as many others, the door handle snapped. Hopeless! Now I have to sort out a replacement panel and work out how to fit it. Any suggestions? It hasn't started to smoke yet but after reading the reviews I won't be leaving the house or going to bed while it's switched on. I can see why this model has been discontinued. Show details

Smoke coming from control panel - machine no longer working – Christmas Day and I enter the kitchen to find smoke and a dreadful smell coming from the kitchen, I had to quickly turn the power off as the dishwasher has died, it is 7 years old but my concern is if I had not been home possibly this unit could have burnt our house down. I notice there are plenty of other reviews with similar problems. Obviously… Read more
an ongoing issue with this machine along with the broken handle which this unit now also has after I pulled the door open and because the front panel was so hot the front fell off. Thanks Dishlex for a quality product!!!

Never Buying Dishlex Again – Plastic door handle snapped 3 years from purchase date with normal domestic use. This was replaced and 3 years later has almost cracked completely through again. Customer service advised me that it wasn't a "design fault" and seemed to think it acceptible for the handle to only last 3 years. Very disappointed in this company's response. Show details
ANOTHER CLOSE CALL – Up until last night I had been happy with this dishwasher with it doing all that I expected. That changed when I walked into the kitchen last night to notice the acrid smell mentioned by other reviewers. The machine had stopped mid-cycle with black scorch marks coming from behind the control panel buttons. I'm another user very relieved that I didn't start my dishwasher just before going to bed. Smoking control panel – Ours had the control panel blow during a wash cycle tonight, loud grinding noise quickly followed by a bang and acrid smoke rapidly filling the house (still making us feel a bit off a few hours later, the house stinks!). Lucky to not properly catch on fire, it didn't trip the safety switch either...the control panel was very hot to touch. Found… Read more
this site after doing an internet search against the model number and the problem, decided to email the Electrolux Customer Care address as seen in reply to others to see what can be done about it.
It might be time for a recall of these units, before someone loses a house or even worse.

Broken door handle – Similar problem with the opening handle that cracked after couple of years. Appears we now have to spend $80 on a new front panel. Machine washes OK but wheels on bottom rack have also gone and these are expensive to replace. Bought based on choice review but these obviously can't test machine life. A lesson that you only get what you pay for. Show details
Handle snapped In half after 2 years – Went to open dishwasher and handle just snapped in half. Now its buggered after ONLY 2 years. Some annoying little plastics bits on top tray keep coming off so just took them off so it fine. Very basic diswasher with not a lot of functions. Cleans well enough and not too loud. Only had it 2 years which is pathetic for handle to break!!! Show details

Good dishwashing rubbish quality door pull – We bought this house 8 months ago and this was the dishwasher in the house..It was a 2011 model The handle broke away 2 days ago It is clear looking at the flimsy moulding that anyone with half a brain would not have put this dishwasher into production..the door pull should have been metal not 2mm plastic I note we are not alone with this… Read more
problem!!
I have repaired it..at some expense with epoxy resin and carbon fibre cloth..now much better than the original
I am fortunate in having some boat building skills in order to do this repair
It is a shame that the door pull is so weak because the machine does a wonderful cleaning job and is very quiet
If it werent for this we probably would have thrown it out and bought a new one
