Just love Dyson – Works well does exactly as it says it would do.My first Dyson was DC04 and they have got better n better by each design. Sad mostly complaints are posted as Dyson produce great products.. it is a tad noisy n could be lighter but then it wouldn't be as productive.
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE – My vacuum cleaner is 4 years old, and has done a lot of work. The sole plate needed replacing. I had looked at the replacement on line but I wanted to make sure that I was ordering the correct part. I contacted the 1800 customer service number, and the customer service woman was extremely helpful. I was willing to pay for the sole plate, but… Read more
was told that there would be no charge (even for postage) and it was a good will gesture on behalf of Dyson. How often does that happen!! I was most impressed, Would be more than happy to buy another Dyson product.,
10 years old – our dc was purchased 10 years ago we have two dogs so hairs was a problem, recently we had a problem with the turbo it did not seem to pick up hairs like it used to, after 10 years of use I could see the problem and decided we needed a new one, we ordered a new one just arrived , staff very helpful and cannot complain Show 3 replies

Hot and cold feeling over this product – The Dyson is a really good product re motor etc, when its working its awesome but we too have had 3 heads due to it just giving up. We persevere otherwise it would have been an expensive garden ornament, and not really good advertisement for Dyson. The Dyson is really powerful and because I cant find another head I'm about to adapt an opposition… Read more
head onto the wand. Why have we just reported it now, well after 3 heads and out of warranty I wouldn't think Dyson would be interested, like most companies, once bought the service can be non existent.
I also loved my DC23 but have replaced the turbo head twice in 4 years and now it is out of warranty – I have a small house, senior housing, and I have a dog. When the Dyson worked it was great but the turbo heads are defective and I can't afford to keep replacing. I found it was light and easy to use and it did pick up the dog hairs. If it wasn't for the problem with the turbo heads I would recommend, but to be on my third turbo head in 3 1/2 years is a defective product Show details
Doesn't last the distance – We bought the Dyson DC23 turbine for $800 5 years ago. Whilst it worked it was good. But the machine has now konked on me (when I tried to use it today smoke was emitting from the unit). I now need to take it in to their service centre and get a quote for repairs (as they only offer 2 years warranty). For the amount of money we spent, would have… Read more
expected more than 5 years use - we were probably better off buying a cheapo vacuum cleaner and throwing it out every year (we still would have been ahead $$ wise). Depending on cost of repair, I might be looking for a new vacuum soon and unlikely to be a Dyson (as not worth the huge investment).

Over rated, overpriced and disappointing – Our turbinehead jammed despite regular cleaning. A replacement head cost as much as a new conventional vacuum cleaner so I pulled it apart with nothing to lose. I found all plastic components and cogs which was disappointing considering the new cost. I cleaned it up and reassembled the head and it’s been working since. Not cheap so one should expect better construction. Show details
Just replaced the turbine head after 10 years of service, now to the next 10 years – I use it on carpet and also ceramic floor tiles, suction is still amazing. Attachment heads are invaluable. Never had any problems, easy to store, easy to empty, love my Dyson vacuum cleaner. Show details
Fantastic vacuum, fantastic service! – Best vacuum cleaner I've owned, the turbine head is brilliant for pet hair and lifting the carpet pile. I run a BnB and have a hairy dog, so it gets plenty of use. When I have needed parts or advice the after sales service has been superb. The turbine head on my DC23 has finally given up after 10 years, I was delighted to find I can still get a replacement head for only $129, so much better than having to buy a new machine! Never again – This cleaner did little work on carpet and tile floors. Spent a fortune but sorry will go back to a cheapy. Will not buy Dyson again. Did all the cleaning of filters regularly too. Big heavy noisy machine. Then find it is discontinued....shame Dyson. So much for the flash advertising on TV. Show details

Just terrible – If you want a noisy, cumbersome, badly (and overdesigned), expensive vacuum cleaner, then this model is for you. Each time I get out this machine, I am composing in my mind this review and so here it is! It was mentioned previously that it is near impossible to reach in narrow areas because the design of the wand. I totally agree. Why would… Read more
you design a bulky attachment which would not reach anywhere because of the width. The turbine head gets clogged easily purely because of the bad design. Two years ago, this turbine head stopped working because of the flimsy drive belt broke and after much debate between Dyson and myself, they suggested I buy a new one for $125.00 and i reminded them that under Australian Consumer law, (and as it broke within a month of the warranty running out), I believed that this should not have happened. They then sent me a new one gratis. It is fairly useless on the one carpet I have and I have to actually loosen any sort of fluff from the carpet myself before it picks it up.
Worked well for a while now need new parts – I bought the DC23 with the Turbine head specifically to clean a carpet that probably wasn't cleaned for years. It did the job great and sucked a buckets full of dust however it's now about 7 years old and the Turbine head, floor head and brush all need to be replaced and it's very hard to find those parts. The suction also seemed to diminish over… Read more
time. I agree with other comments here that it is heavy and tends to bang into walls and furniture. I don't think I will rush to get a new Dyson. There are plenty of other good options out there.
DC 23 turbine head – Why "discontinued". My head stopped turning. I pulled head apart and cleaned all things that may stop it working, to no avail. I got curious pulled head drive apart and found the nylon drive "T" pin stripped. Weak link in machine. The replacement heads are very expensive and 2 years warranty is not a good alternative. Wont buy another Dyson.

Smelly Junk – Bought this from Myer for about $800 few years ago. Have been putting up with the bad smell since then. No matter how I cleaned the filter the smell wouldn't go away. Just not worth the high price one paid for. Had enough of it and bought a new one of different brand.

Not impressed – Have had the machine for about 6 year and have had to replace the carpet head 3 times. Considering the cost of the machine and the head it should last more than 2 years. The last one i purchased was in December 2014 and is no longer working. Will be buying a new vacuum cleaner and it won't be a Dyson.
What slick advertising can do! – We bought this vacuum cleaner from Myer. Fell for the slick look and advertising. Performance was terrible, required constant maintenance and after warranty period found the parts to be exorbitantly priced. Finally threw it away. Beware of bagless vacuum cleaners- leave Dyson alone is my advise.

Barrel good but disappointed with turbine head and customer service – Have owned a Dyson DC23 barrel for a number of years and up until recently have always been happy with its performance. Unfortunately I had to purchase a replacement Turbine Head (not particularly cheap at $129), a little over two years ago. 3 months after the two year warranty period expires the replacement head has started to scream like a… Read more
banshee! – so much so you need ear plugs to be in the same room. No support from customer care so Buyer Beware when it comes to the turbine heads.

Not up to standard – Bought a Dyson DC23 2009 .Had turbine head replaced within 2 years. Again head gone hardly used as also purchased hand held Dyson DC59 in 2013 and use this about 90% of the time . I would only use the DC23 about once or twice a month. Cant believe that a turbine head would not last less than a 100 times if that. Pathetic and not up to standard of a brand name.

dyson warranty is a joke – Stay away from dyson. They would not stand behind their products. My turbine head stopped spinning and they could not fix it and refused to replace it even it is still within warranty period. This seems to be a common problem with Dyson's products. I recommend that a quick search online on their products before you buy.

Turbine head not spinning – 3 years old, after just a year the cogs in the head broke I had to buy a new head, $160, 2 years later the brushes stop spinning, I have dismantled and cleaned, there is a rubber piece where the dirt gets sucked up, if I block this with my finger is spins but when the cover is on it doesn't, I'm so over this bloody thing, I will never buy a Dyson again
New, but not improved! – This is my second Dyson, I had the first generation and was very happy with it. I recently bought this and hate it! I have a large house with pure wool carpet and timber floors, the wool carpet fills the small barrel in 2 mins, and to empty it is a nightmare - I end up with dust and mess everywhere, and impossible to get the barrel entirely… Read more
clean. the handle is uncomfortable to hold for long periods and the power head is small and flicks things everywhere!
Major cause of stress! – Had this vacuum for 5 years and never been happy with it - expensive, hose very big and comes off the side of the barrel, end of pole too thick to get alongside furniture, turbine head constantly got blocked and then stopped working at all, have to use hands to change knob for different floors, very heavy to lift & maneuver, wheels often get… Read more
caught alongside furniture. Purchased normal head, as did not want to pay out more for another turbo head - useless. Can't believe I have put up with this Dyson for 5 years - very disappointed, but have learnt from my mistake. I have spent this afternoon reading reviews and am off to buy a Miele. I won't fall for the hype again Dyson.

Engine has just blown up – We have had our machine 3 years and it has worked wonderfully. I agree its heavy and not easy to clean but the suction has been amazing. Turbine Head not so good – Bought the DC23 to pick up pet hair. The turbine head was great for about a week and then never spun the same again. I have to go over the per hair on the carpet 4 or 5 times to pick it up. Even then when I run my fingers over the carpet there is still hair. The turbine just doesn't spin correctly and already needs to be replaced.

Sucked In by the Hype – DC23 Allergy vacuum cleaner lasted about 3 years before motor burned out. I guess I was 'sucked in' by the hype about Dyson being the best and so on. Regarding performance; for a bagless vacuum it did ok. It was always a challenge to empty the canister without getting covered in dust though.
Perfect machine, except for turbine head – I have had my Dyson for nearly 4 years and I think it is a great machine. My only complaint is turbine head which has had to be replaced twice. I rate Dyson s customer service 100% with my first head being replaced within 7 days of phone call as was still under warranty. 2 years I came to the conclusion that they must have a fault in them. I rang Dyson and even though replacement head was a month and a half out of warranty they said they would send me a new one free of charge with another 2 years warranty. Cant complain about that, Thankyou very much Dyson. Cleans perfectly, great customer service Turbine head ceases to spin after about 2 years use.
Okay, we like but don't love – We have been using this for a number of years and it still works. There are design flaws though. The turbine head failed long ago and is an expensive thing to replace as identified by other reviewers. The collar at the end of the wand is so wide that you can't get into narrow spaces, we end up taking off the wand and attaching the brushes to… Read more
the hose to overcome this and get down on hands and knees to work.
The unit is a bit heavy and awkward to steer, something that Dyson appear to be addressing in later models.
Rather than pay $129 for a new turbine head a nice bloke in godfreys southland who has a variety of adapters that can overcome the non standard sized proprietary connection on Dysons, enabled us to buy a $50 non Dyson turbine head that has worked well now for a year and a half, albeit looking a bit odd. We too resented the high cost of replacing with a poor quality Dyson turbine head accessory.
That's said, we like the bag less system, suction and the filtration seems fine on our unit. We would consider a Dyson again, but the price is a bit steep for the product quality on this model. Picks up a lot of dust Poor quality expensive turbine head, collar at end of wand make it hopeless for getting down the side of appliances

Wonderful machine – we owned a DC 22 for almost 3 years, we could not believe our home has so much dust till after we used the dyson vacuum machine. We had a great time in vacuuming. Less effort, very effective with the turbine head on carpet. I can see all dust in the drum too.But I find that the vacuum is releasing a lot of air on the side , is it normal? Or the filter needs to be changed because of blockage? easy to use, effortless Show reply
powerhead problems – I had a problem with the brush not turning,i dismantled it and oiled the bearings, had fun with hidden screw till i found the plastic cover comes off the opposite side after that it was no trouble to remove the final screw,it is now working fine again.I would recommend it to anyone wanting a great performing cleaner. does a good job after 2 YEARS I HAD THE ABOVE TROUBLE. Terrible Design – I have owned this machine now for a while, shortly after purchasing this machine I rang Dyson and told them they need to fire whoever designed it. This was for a number of reasons firstly when emptying the canister it is difficult to push the lever and get the bottom to open, over time the the lever breaks as ours has done. now it wont open.… Read more
Taking the barrel off the head is a complete nightmare by the time you have finished you end up with quite a bit if dirt on you, mins of jiggling and shaking we have now worked out the best way is to get a screw driver to separate the barrel so it can be emptied. Now for the wand what a piece of rubbish that is, if you suck something up that and it blocks be ready to spend time getting it out. I unintentionally sucked a lid off a water bottle this morning it wont come out, I even googled instructions from Dyson they are completely stupid and do not help at all, so every time I turn the machine on the water cap blocks the hose and it cant be used, stupid design. It has good suction, and is compact when hose wound around machine. The barrel needs to be bigger so rubbish does not get caught before it reaches bottom of barrel. The lever to open maching needs to be improved as does the mecahnism for taking the whole barrel off as lets face it most of the rubbish doesnt make it to bottom so inevitably you have to take the whole thing off to empty it anyway. The wand, OMG what can I say its the absolute worst design. I am thinking as soon as I can save money of delegating this machine to garage for the cars, and replacing it with anotherbetter designed machine and diiferent brand. I have looked at the latest models of the dyson and I do not know what they are thinking, they might suck well but as for the rest forget it.
Not great, disappointed – Like many others, my turbine head has died. What a disappointment after spending $850 on this vacuum plus a few more hundred at the same time for the small handheld vacuum. Called dyson service twice, the customer service people didn't seem surprised that this has happened and quoted $129 for a replacement. What a shaft. My advice is don't… Read more

Great Vacuum - Very Poor Turbo Head – Had this for a bit over two years. Fantastic vacuum. No suction loss at all. Shame about the turbo head as two years seems to be its life span. $130 for a replacement & of course you have to buy the complete head it is something to consider if buying. Does a great job every time. Turbo head life span is ridiculous. I don't like emptying the barrel as the dust & contents gets all over the door opening that hangs down in the way of things.

I love my Dyson – I have had my Dyson around 4-5 years but my Turbine head doesn't spin anymore when it is on the carpet just wondering what I can do to fix it? I will always use a Dyson as it cleans my floors better than any other vacuum I have used! and can't wait until I have the money to buy the DC35 Show 2 replies
Dyson DC23 Turbine – The Dyson works well on carpet with the turbine head working. But the turbine inside the head is subject to early failure. My sons Dyson turbine failed in 2 years and ours in 3.5 years. I suspect this part is too weak so fails prematurely. Customer phone service pinpointed the problem but did not offer a part replacement at no cost. Ease of use and overall performance. Turbine part in the turbine head. Show reply
