Shocked Australian Made Electrolux Fridge EBE5100SD – Not happy disappointed in Australian made products. This fridge cost me a lot of money after bad experiences with buying the most expensive products on the market to only get disheartened is enough to never waste that sort of money again probably wouldve been better off saving $1300 which would've been better off in my pocket and buy cheap nasty… Read more
fridge if they are going to just fall a part like this.
It took me a while to decide to purchase this particular brand and model and the only reason I went for this is because everyone says Australian made products are built to last? Ummm yeah right if that was the case then mine wouldn't be falling apart.
2017 Fridge Door handle fell off which Electrolux did replace FOC as it's under warranty.
11th August 2018 I stood on a chair so I could look on top of my fridge and NOTICED the plastic mouldings on top of the fridge door and the top hinge plastic mouldings are splitting what the hell I paid very good money for this Australian made Electrolux Fridge so I expect this to last me the rest of my life. I never dreamt it would do something like this and I am NOT the only person who has complained about this poor manufacturing.
I rarely clean the top as it doesnt really get dirty I mainly wipe down the doors with stainless steel cleaner as its stainless steel. The casing on the sides get wiped down with warm soapy water and dried straight away.
Another issue I have with this fridge is the fridge door keeps squeaking everytime you open and shut it so something isn't right.
It seems to have 2 tiny rust Mark's appearing on the bottom of freezer door how can this be if its stainless steel?
Already had bad experience with German Made Bosch front loader and NOW this hope this dont rust like my German Made Bosch front loader and my ex Samsung brushless steel fridge.

Beautiful and streamlined, this fridge gives me everything I want and need – This fridge lived up to everything I had read about. The shelves are easy to clean and to provide plenty of room for my food. The vegetable crispers are at waist height and easy to slide. The bottle caddy is super handy. A lot of thought has been given to this fridge's design and I love the stainless steel finish. The freezer compartment has ample room and I love the icecube maker. Show details
Perfect – very elegant fridge and very good start rating for electricity, quiet. This is a great fridge, purchased in 2016 from DJs. It was one of the few that offered left-hand opening and fits in our pantry. The food temperature is perfect. Great draws in Freezer at the bottom. excellent delivery service. So far very happy. A very efficient fridge with pleasing support from the manufacturer – The fridge I bought was very good, but then I discovered the freezer door seal did not seal well, as the chassis was slighly warped. A local authorised Electrolux repairer confirmed this, after initially attempting a re-seal (under the extended warranty I purchased). I contacted Electrolux and after consideration they replaced the fridge in full,… Read more
so whilst I was not happy initially, I think it is great when a company stands behind their product for years into the future for major issues. For this reason I will certainly consider buying Electrolux products again. Great service and support.

Doors not closing properly – Within a few weeks of purchasing this fridge, flexible white thing dropped out of the door hinge. There are now three of them that have fallen out and now the fridge and freezer door do not shut properly. we contacted our surpplier, but have had an unsatisfactory response so far. they said it would be $70 just for somebody to come and have a look… Read more
at it. Never had this happen before. Not happy. This has been going on for years now, so basically we just put up with it now.
Fruit & Vegetable draws – Bought the Electrolux fridge as it had the best size draws for the fruit and vegetables - unfortunately it does not keep my fruit and veges as crisp as what my 25 yo fridge did - very disappointed. Also no compartment to keep butter. Will be looking to replace it as soon as I can as that is what I keep most in the fridge. Show details
A Pity – We really liked the fridge to start with, but it has been a bit of a disappointment, with week shelving and plastic fittings that are cracked in lots of places and with really a small interior space this difficult to rearrange. Food freezes when placed at the back of the fridge and salad items often freeze when in the salad tray. We are now in… Read more

Great Product – It took us a while to make this purchase and when we did decide to purchase this fridge in 2015 we were glad that we did. We have been extremely happy with our fridge so far. We would recommend this fridge to anyone but we believe it isn’t sold anymore as it has an upgraded version now. Show details
Great fridge – Very happy with this fridge. Good lasts a long time. Easy to clean. Very quiet. Easy to wipe down. Practical compartments. Looks good in the kitchen. Easy to move to clean behind it. Good size freezer with two drawers. I would buy another one for sure. Much better than the Simpson we had. Show details
Great fridge – Compared to our 15 year old fridge that this replaced, it was larger but more energy efficient (our bill dropped by a third!), it was quieter and it kept food fresher for longer. We find it to be large enough for a family of four, although we shop weekly so don't over fill it. It has plenty of shelf and door space. I really like the ice tray… Read more
and bucket system. It's a great alternative if you cant get a plumbed in fridge that dispenses. The draws in the freezer take up a bit of space so it could be a bit larger, but that would be at the expense of convenience.
About 2 weeks ago we started getting a freezer alarm. I called up Electrolux and they had a technician out the next day (a Saturday too). He identified a small leak in the gas system. So small that it took 9 months for it to loose enough gas for it to become apparent. They replaced the fridge on Thursday. Good customer service and no hassle or issues.
Love this fridge – Love the fridge, not sure what noise people are talking about mine is super silent. The timer is a great addition to a fridge when I need to know how long the oven has been on for. The ice cube tray is a great feature as well. Never purchased Electrolux before but would be happy to purchase again.
Disappointed with this fridge – When I first purchased was really excited but after a couple of years the shelves in door have broken (the plastic is very week) the draws in the freezer broke in the first 6 months (were not covered under warranty) and now the ice tray has broken. They draws a week plastic and expensive to replace, I would not purchase this fridge again and can't wait to get rid of it. :(

Load vibration. Very anoying – Bought this fridge because it has a very high energy efficiency rating in June 2014 and after some months found the freezer was forming ice. exchanged yesterday with another new one but it is now just as bad. I think it may be the air circulating fan and not the compressor, but as Electrolux have no fridge technicians available in the country the only option is to exchange Or get my money back. Probably a design fault. Very disappointing. And i like to buy made in australia.

Absolutely annoying alarm system that cannot be over-ridden – The Fridge/Freezer worked ok and fundamentally not many issues in the early days. Word of warning to all who may purchase an electrolux - the alarm system that is built in to warn of temperature fluctuations goes off all day and night - the reset option does not work. It cost us $134 to get a technician out only to find out that the alarm could… Read more

Noisy - worse than what it replaced – Our fridge was bought new and had been working well for the last nine months. Recently, I started to notice the sound of the compressor being louder than normal and is very audible. In the previous nine months, there was no or limited sound/noise. I've checked if the fridge is level, has sufficient clearance at the back and checked for any… Read more

A thank you to Electrolux – I vigorously complained about the noise from my Electrolux fridge on this site sometime in mid November and I had a swift response from Rumona at the company. Within days a technician inspected it and confirmed a problem. Within ten days a had a new, quieter fridge. I have to acknowledge a fast, effective response to a consumer complaint. I am grateful and it speaks well of the company.
Good looking fridge but loud noise ruins it ! – Was so excited buying a new fridge and was told Electrolux fridge/freezers were fantastic in design and with a high star rating. Purchased from Good Guys Cockburn Central WA and phoned them at the end of the month of being delivered and complained how noisy the motor/fan was and at times has a slight rattle. Was palmed off and said it had nothing to do with them and to phone Electrolux direct. I did phone but was told had to pay a call out fee if there is not problem and that I was not used to the noise (maybe our ears were sensitive) and can't do much about it !!!
What the ?? You would think that with modern technology why would fridges be more noiser today than fridges of yesteryear. I am embarrassed by my husband, as he reminders me daily of how much he hates the fridge and the loud motor noise running in our kitchen, drives him crazy, telling me what a mistake buying the Electrolux fridge was, we should of gone with his choice of either Samsung or Westinghouse. What have I done ??? !!!!
Here we go again - don't buy one – 13 months post my previous service call and repair and true to form this fridge has stopped working again. On my last post Electrolux asked for me to give me them a call which resulted in absolutely nothing. It was just false PR. This fridge has been a nightmare and I reiterate my previous warning - Do not buy electrolux. The stainless finish… Read more

Don't buy a EBE400SCR – I brought an Electrolux EBE4300SRC three years ago. For $1530.00. I thought that I was buying quality to last. But the plastic that covers the foam in the freezer section is cracking. As it is out of warranty I was told I would be charged a service fee of $135.00. No thanks and no thanks to another Electrolux product. Is a fridge Poor quality

Very disappointed – I paid around $2000 for this fridge 3 years ago and for the third time now the bottom 1cm of foam covered in plastic that holds the shelf in place has snapped off. This is such a tiny tiny thing that costs a small fortune to repair. You can't just replace this little bit of foam because it is part of the inner door moulding. What has to happen is… Read more
the whole entire door needs to be replaced. The first time it happened the fridge was under warranty so it was replaced no issues and it was suggested perhaps an air pocket in the foam or something. Second time it happened Electrolux said it was not something they had ever heard of happening with other people but they agreed to replace the doors provided I pay for the technician. His fee was around $160. Crazy! He told me he has replaced many many doors because of the same issue. He offered some suggestions to make sure the new shelf lasted and we have been so careful with it. So I have only kept a couple of 2L or 3L milk bottles on this shelf. It is big enough to hold more. Tonight the foam snapped off again at a time when there was only a 3L bottle of milk on the shelf and it was as the door was opened. Whilst the fridge works perfectly, it is a great size, it looks nice, the lousy workmanship and thought process into the shelf design into what should hold your drink bottles (you all know what I am talking about) is crazy. Furthermore, the lies Electrolux told me about me having this unique problem compared to the technician who advised he has replaced many of these doors is very disappointing. Electrolux know this is a problem, they should have done something about the design of this little bit of foam to hold up a massive shelf and provided new doors that did not have this design fault.
Another minor issue, but incredibly frustrating, the door handle falls off regularly. I have lost count of the number of times I have punched myself in the face with the door handle when I have gone to open the fridge.
I will never buy Electrolux again. For the amount of money I paid I wish I had looked into a more reliable and better quality manufacturer. Nice big fridge for a family, stainless steel is nice and easy to clean with soapy water. Poor design of the doors resulting in possibly hundreds of dollars of repairs

Sooooo Happy – After reading reviews on these fridges I hesitated when purchasing my Electrolux fridge but now realise most people only write a review if they are unhappy. Ver happy with this fridge – We bought the Electrolux 5100 sc (with electronic controls) and have been very happy with the fridge thus far. We bought a new fridge as the old F&P kept freezing all our veggies in the fridge in warm weather, so pleased to find that the… Read more
Electrolux has excellent temperature uniformity.
The challenge for us was to find a fridge with lots of crisper space, as it seems to be quite restricted in most fridges - the Electrolux is better than many fridges in this regard, but still could be bigger. Reasonable crisper size. Quality fittings, e.g.smooth Freezer drawers . Quiet. Temperature uniformity.
Get it serviced if you think it is noisy – Mine was one of those that was very noisy. My call to Electrolux was promptly and courteously addressed. It only takes the technician a few minutes to adjust the internal fan fitment to reduce the fan vibration noise. It's a well designed refrigerator. The crisper and freezer bins slide out easily and fully extend. It is very energy efficient. The… Read more
electronic controls are on the outside where they should be and I think the electronic features that it has are useful. Telescopic rails for the crisper and freezer bins and its energy efficiency Doesn't come in white which I would have preferred. No door open sensor for freezer door.
Need a torch to see food items on shelves in fridge – Shame on you Electrolux !!! All your photos and catalogs advertising this product show a bright white light coming from fridge section. Rusty spots on door – I have been very unhappy with the customer service response to my EBM 5107SC fridge rust problem. call and parts as the fridge was out of warranty.
Although I purchased the fridge in June 2009 I believe it is entirely reasonable to expect that the door should not rust in this short time. The stainless steel surface has been cared for at all times according to the product manual and no harsh cleaners have ever been used .
We also live in Brisbane city, not close to salt air in a beach environment. All of my other stainless steel kitchen and laundry appliances (Asko and Miele) have been impeccable in quality and have lasted for significant amounts of time rust free.
Finally on 23 December 2012 I emailed customer care and the follow up phone call indicated that I should try a stainless steel cleaner for surface rust. This advice as expected has not shifted the rust and lacks understanding of the nature of the damage that rust can create.
I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in the response by Electrolux to date and could not recommend this product to other buyers. The fridge has been reliable although the appearance of significant rust needs urgent attention by manufacturer. Significant rust spots on door surface of expensive fridge. lack of understanding of problem from customer care

Good fridge – I bought EBE4300SC and although there were a few hiccups with noisy compressor and missing bottle/wine caddy, it got all sorted and happy with the fridge. little noisy side compared to some others. I have read comments about misleading energy rating, haven't checked that myself..it is supposedly best one in the market energy efficiency wise. The only one thing I wish was different is the bottom freezer was a drawer and not a door, but starting to like the freezer door as well. Overall good fridge, would recommend. good features, energy efficient little on a noisy side
Rusty Doors – I have had my electrolux fridge for 12 months. The doors have rust spots on it. Its suppose to be stainless steel. I didnt think stainless steel rusts!! Its not suppose to. I was not happy with his decision therefore l rang up electrolux again, the very next day someone else came out and ordered new doors. He stated that this should not happen. I am still waiting for the new doors. I will ring them again to keep on there back about this. The second technician did tell me that these fridges run on a computer and they blow up often.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. When you are paying so much money on a product that is stainless steel and it starts to rust within a year, it tells you that its either not stainless steel or a cheap grade of stainless steel is used. The look of it. Doors have rust spots everywhere.

Excellent! EBE5100SC (Family of 5) – Received our fridge 5 days ago and I'm pleased to say it is very quiet and we have a fairly open plan kitchen / living area. The vegie and freezer drawers slide well and hold plenty. Even with the kids in and out of the fridge the temperature remains consistant. The unit is stylish and well finished. Love that the freezer is on the bottom, electronic thermostat control, sliding drawers
The noise gets onto my nerves – Bought the EBE5100 SC fridge because of Electrolux's reputation. the fridge looks good inside and out and apparently has a good energy efficiency. Very negative and disappointing is the noise. The fan compressor turns on often and is very loud. The noise is very disturbing especially when in an open plan kitchen/living area. Also the position of the lighting is quite odd, when you place staff in the middle of the fridge it blocks the light. My previous 15 year old fridge was much quieter than this one, well, it was German quality and that says it all.
I am very unhappy with this fridge and wish I could return it. Certainly don't recommend to anyone. Outside appeareance, the glass shelves, the crisper delicates tray and veggie trays Very noisy when the fan compressor turns on
Don't believe the electrical rating – This fridge is an electrical disaster. It is noiser than a 20 year old Sharp fridge. It runs for 20 mnutes per hour, even when the fridge is not opened throughout the day. According to a portable electrical usage monitor 7kw used in a nine hour period (the rating claims 404 kw p.a this equates to 1.1 kw per day) Service person says nothing wrong with the fridge!!! rating is misleading

constantly throughout the year.
We like the flexible interior. Glass shelves are good with a cold compartment for fresh meat and fish. The door shelves are made of very thick plastic which feels like it will last. The veggie drawer and freezer drawers are on smooth runners which is nice. The manual ice maker and container in the freezer is really good.
We have no regrets about this purchase. (Just hope it stays reliable as unfortunately Electrolux products seem to have been a little unreliable of late) We like the appearance, easy to keep clean stainless steel finish, energy efficiency, drawers and internal arrangement. Drawers are on runners and shelves solid glass. Manual ice maker is great, digital timer makes quickly cooling drinks in the freezer safe.
Really like the fridge on top, freezer underneath arrangement as accessing fridge is really easy. Nothing really, maybe a spilt veggie fruit drawer found on the larger sizes would be nice.
Excellent – We are so happy with our new fridge, we think that it not only looks great but is really functional aswell. We just brought this fridge and we love it. It looks great and there is plenty of room inside the fridge and the freezer below. The glass shelves are fantastic and one of them is adjustable so that you can put tall drink bottles inside. … Read more
We also love that you can see what is in your fruit and vegie bins really easy and then there are two smaller bins for fish etc. It is nice and wide to so great to put platters or a big lasagne in. The freezer draws slide out really easy and have plenty of room in them. Nothing so far.
