Since 2014 – Overall satisfied with this machine. Easy to use, OK quality, good washing capability, good range of operation from hand wash, wool to high temp cotton wash, requires minimum maintenance -same as most machine of the similar era and design. Quick wash is great for school kids' stuff. - my subjective view. No big surprises on breakdowns so far. -… Read more
objective facts.
Below are some of the issues encountered in last 7 years. 1. door closed but not easily locked in - often encounter "door open" error. Usually had to open and close again with slight upward force on the door handle. This occurs regardless of wash load. 2. I often leave door closed after wash - this created black mark on the groove of the rubber door seal - not affecting quality of wash tho. Follow instructional manual on maintenance by leaving door open you should be ok. 3. expect superficial coating starting to go as it ages - not a surprise for people or objects. :) 4. Biggest problem we had was the softener compartment stopped flushing, despite routine cleaning and usually troubleshooting by user manual. If you have the same issue, famous Youtuxx provides detailed video on how to replace inlet valve. Like most things in life, all you need is some common tools and watching Youtuxx. Just get a model-suitable "Electrolux Washer 2-Way Solenoid Water Valve" off Xbay or similar credible online vendor. About 15mins of work to replace and it did the trick. I suspect the fault is a planned obsolescence. Nevertheless it beats 140$ callout fee for not much servicing by old mate. Refer to Electrolux's customer service topics. It is a front loading machine so you can't really compare with a top loader. If your motor is running and not having major dramas with leaks and electronic faults then it's a win. Top loader might go further per dollar.
Would I buy front loader like this again? Yes, maybe a more premium brand (because Mrs said so - a happy wife is way better than your silly washing machine studies and choices. Just buy whatever she wanted - this is cheaper and less hassle in the long run).
Good luck and hope this has been helpful.
Ok but huge mould build up in rubber seal – We have had our washing machine for about 3.5 - 4 years and I have to agree with all the other reviews regarding the mould and grime that builds up and pools in the seal. The only way to clean it from what I can read from other reviews is to take the machine apart and leave the seal in bleach for a couple of days. It seems as it is a design flaw… Read more
and really should be looked at. Was trying to clean it to resell but no matter what chemicals I use the black mould marks seem to be permanently infused with the rubber.
Not made to last, one problem after another – When my old Bosch finally died after 12 years and it was washing for a family of 5 and cloth nappies for a while, I bought the Electrolux based on the good reviews at the time. I have had the door issue, cycle taking longer than it says, cycle stopping constantly and more recently the softener container doesn't release the softener. I have… Read more
maintained the machine by wiping seals, airing it and the soap tray out every week and to no avail. Ironically, most of these faults have occurred just after the 5 year extended warranty ran out. I bought the matching condensors dryer to go with it and it is awful too. Electrolux should be ashamed of advertising quality product, when it appears to be designed to fail.

Washing Machine – This is by far the best washing machine I have ever owned it has a very large capacity 8kg so you don't need to wash as many loads I like the temps control especially when washing bedding and the refresh cycle is great for refreshing a favourite top you only wore for a while but smelks like deodorant comes out nice and fresh Show details
Never a Problem – We use this multiple times a week and it never fails. Cleans very well and allows whitening agents to be used without any issues. Clothes come out perfectly. Convenient front loader, which allows for a dryer on top to run concurrently. Plenty of options, according to the type of clothing. Show details
Good Machine. Have not had any problems with it – Is a quiet Machine that washes and rinses the clothes quite well. I am very happy with this machine and it is still working well two and a half years after we purchased it. I would look at buying another Electrolux washing machine when this one needs to be replaced sometime in the distant future. Show details

Never Buy Electrolux Again!! – I purchased the washing machine 5 years ago! It stopped working completely with an error code E5E (basically the main circuit board is faulty). the machine is worth). Its only myself and my daughter it absolutely looks brand new!! It definitely should be lasting longer! I will never buy another Electrolux appliance or recommend one to anyone! Purchased in 2014 at Harvey Norman Port Kennedy!!
Washer stopped working - Electrolux unhelpful – We purchased this machine 4 years ago. Yesterday it stopped working completely with an error code E5E (basically the main circuit board is faulty). Contacted Electrolux who have been wholly unhelpful in the matter (other than saying they would charge me $150 dollars to even come out to look at the machine - when we already know the fix would cost more than the machine is worth). Will never buy another Electrolux appliance. Show details
Door-seal mould - I had to remove the seal to clean it – The door seal in my EWF12832 was also full of mould. Poor design traps water. I removed the seal from the machine to clean it. After soaking in bleach for a day or two it was back to new. However, to get the seal back on, you need to take the machine apart. Literally. There is a You Tube video showing you how. The final step, frustratingly,… Read more
requires use of a star shaped driver to get bolts out of the concrete weights. Off to Bunnings. The large sized ones cost $50. Did the job. Probably still cheaper than paying for a maintenance guy to come out.

Good washer but I too have had the door mechanism problems – Bought 5 yrs ago. Excellent washing, it has never disappointed me in it’s ability to wash very well. However after 2 years the door needs slamming for it to recognise it is closed properly. The cycles are long but I do reduce them down on timer, with still very impressive results. Unfortunately it is leaking at the moment and I can’t detect the… Read more
source, so to save time and money on a repairman, I’m on the hunt for a new machine, and will consult more reviews before I purchase to avoid planned obsolescence at the 5 year mark. It annoys me senseless!
Would not recommend to a friend – * Takes far too long to do anything. * Doesn't remember your settings. * Clothes feel barely rinsed, even with "rinse plus" enabled. * Only has one input hose, which is for cold water, so we don't get the benefit of our solar hot water. * Drain pipe makes loud gurgling noises as it has no "check valve". * Door sensor doesn't detect the door is closed 80% of the time. This machine is a piece of kaka – Absolute rubbish. The machine washes well and is great WHEN IT WILL TURN ON. Most of the time the start/pause touch button thing doesn't work and it takes about 30 tries (no exaggeration) to actually start the cycle. Then half the time it stops and starts multiple times during said cycle. So a 1:05 cycle takes about 4 hours. Pretty inconvenient in… Read more
a household of 6 people. I live regional and do you think I can get someone (recommended by electrolux) out to have a look? I can't even get a return phone call! Its now 5 years old, as been doing this the last year, prob not worth the cost of repairing so more landfill! No wonder our planet is in the state it is in. Pretty confident I will never buy electrolux again.
Reasonable Machine, But Not Built To Last – I purchased this from Winnings five years ago, on the recommendation of a salesperson. I needed a bigger machine for my family, and though the online reviews weren't perfect, I was assured it was good quality. Several months into owning it, I began having issues with the door lock. It wouldn't matter how hard I slammed the door shut, the… Read more
machine would refuse to recognise that the door was closed. I had a technician out twice for this problem, and the door lock mechanism was replaced once... but the issue kept happening and eventually I was fobbed off and told that there was nothing they could do to fix it because it was an 'intermittent fault'.
The wash cycle was okay, the options etc on the machine were great, and the machine was a good size for our family of 4. When our third child came along, this 8kg machine struggled to keep up. The cycles are so long that doing more than one load a day was challenging - but it did clean the clothes very well and it does a fantastic 'gentle' and 'hand wash' cycle.
However, my husband hated how it ruined our good bath sheets - he has always said it made them dry and scratchy. Changing the heat/washing cycles/spin cycles didn't fix this problem, though tumble drying our towels (what a waste of energy!!!!) bought them back to reasonable condition.
Five years in, and during this past week the machine suddenly stopped finishing its cycles - clothes would be wringing wet, but as I didn't 'see' it having an issue, it was difficult to put my finger on the issue. I ignored it until it became obvious that the machine simply was not washing the clothes at all, and I started finding powder still in the dispenser.
Finally, the machine simply refused to start at all. The timer could count down, occasionally it would pour a small amount of water into the drum, but it would then stop dead and continue to count down on the timer until the machine turned itself off. I cleaned out the filters, I tried running yet another cleaning cycle - nothing helped.
Honestly, I am disgusted that a washing machine is now a disposable item in our society. Only five years! To repair it (as I was advised that it was most likely an electronic error) would have cost me more than $300.
Talking to a friend today, I was advised that I could have claimed it under warranty as apparently Consumer Law dictates that we are entitled to five years warranty (despite whatever tiny warranty period the company graces us with).
If I'd known this fact, I could have saved myself a tonne of money and tried to have it repaired under warranty instead of letting the delivery drivers take my old machine away. At the end of the day, I'm left thoroughly disappointed in the quality and durability of Electrolux and I wont ever buy one again.

Solid Workhorse of a Washing Machine – It does a good job of washing your clothes and has various settings to reduce the amount of energy required by adjusting time and temperature of each wash. It has lasted over 5 years so I hope this review doesn't now jinx the machine! Only maintenance required is to clear the pump once a month. Show details

Not another dud from Electrolux!!! – We bought this front loader due to being on tank water and the salesman from Harvey Normal gave it a rave. Should have known better. That helped but still does it regularly enough to be a problem. It seems… Read more

Now after four and a half years old it came to a thumping stop. The drum seemed to be sagging and i took the top cover off and found a broken drum support spring. The drum has large cast weights on it to make it stable i assume and having only 2 springs is bound to fail.
We also bought a dishwasher made by Electrolux at the same time. It has had problems and broke down last year. I rang Electrolux about this and got a tough out of warranty reply. Put it on this review site and they came to the party on parts only i had to pay $120 labor.
I was happy with that but now after this $797 washing machine breakdown i am very concerned with this brand of product.
I was not told that she will be good for about four years mate from the salesman.
I hope they come to the party with a new spring and i can put it in. Being rural it is a pain to get repairs done.
Come on Electrolux lets hear from you again.

Oh my god, the mould inside the gasket is out of control – I'll start very quickly with the positives, of which there are not many. Yep, sure, it washes your clothes and bedding etc. without any real fuss. Never had any of the errors which other people talk about so can't really complain. What is the single biggest problem with this machine is the rubber door seal and its inability to effectively dry… Read more
out and prevent mould. We've had this machine for just under 2 years and around 2 months ago the smell of mould got worse and worse. I got stuck in to the seal last weekend and wow, the amount of thick scungy mould that was inside would make most people puke. Even after removing as much of the mould as possible the machine still reeks. I now have to resort to drying the seal after each load all the way around to try and prevent it happening again.
We've never experienced this with other front loaders before and it seems to me as a real design flaw.
I would highly recommend you do not purchase this brand/model of front loader washers as you will no doubt experience this disgusting mould issue in years to come. There is no way we could onsell this to another person if we decided to upgrade as the seal is ruined and permanently stained.

Broken way too quickly – The washing machine itself, if it works, is great. It washes, has multiple different settings and you can add a forgotten piece midcycle. common problem and I really wish Electrolux would step up, give some customer service and not charge $145 for someone to come out and just have a look at it.
The front panel already has rust, which is very disappointing considering the machine is in a safe and dry (as dry as it gets in NQLD) place.
Overall, I am over the throwaway mentality and really wish I had bought something that will last for much longer than just 3-4 years.

front loader is not good for a busy family with sporty kids. I used to be able to wash the doonas and a good wad of towels in my old machine. Certainly can't fit a doona in this one and it struggles with just 4 or 5 towels.
The only good thing was that it had a good cycle for delicates.
Now I'm looking at repairs or replacement!

Disappointed – Had this machine for a while now. It replaced a Fisher and Paykel top loader. Uses dramatically less water as advertised. As a result, clothes are never properly rinsed, so a further rinse cycle required, and it takes HOURS to do a wash cycle. Uses noticeably more power as well. Broken after 2 years only – Broken after 2 years, technician doesn't know how to fix and recommends trial and error replacing motors. Too noisy and timer is not good – Bought this machine in 2013, after every 3-4 weeks, timer starts to shuffle to 1 minute even in 3:40 minute cycle. Now this is occurring frequently. Also in delicates cylcle, clothes not clean up properly. Same with hand wash feature. They says 8 kg weight clothes can be washed but practically you can not put more than 4 kg. Junk, as with all other models - read the reviews, average out the stars and compare with other bran – Have had this machine for 2 or 3 years now, warranty is out. It's a hell of a noisy frontloader, wasn't this way at first. Nice offer, but a brand new Bosch machine was still cheaper.
Would not buy again, i have real concerns about the build quality of these machines.
If Electrolux wants me to give them a chance they're welcome to take away my dud and *give* me a new machine, otherwise i'll be steering clear and advising everyone else to do the same.
No point taking a financial risk when i can try a better reviewed brand for less money.

Cannot recommend this machine – Originally worked really well and was very happy with the machine. allowed you to reduce the time taken to wash.
Then, about 18 months after purchase, the problems started. First, the door closing mechanism, as many other reviewers have mentioned, stopped working properly, but this seemed to be fixed with a bit more of a forceful shove when closing.
Control panel problems started about 2 years after purchase, just outside of the warranty period. At first it was just a bit annoying as the start/pause button wouldn't work about 50% of the time. Persisted with the machine, but now about 2.5 years after purchase the start/pause button works about 1 in every 100 presses and it is now completely random as to when the machine will start. Also, the machine will now pause halfway through a load of its own accord - sometimes it will turn itself back on and keep going, other times it will stay paused for hours. Sometimes it will pause multiple times during a run, and if you are lucky enough to be able to start the cycle again (using the extremely temperamental start/pause button), there's a good chance it will pause again, and then you have to get it started again, only for it to pause again...you get the idea. If you are lucky and paying attention to it, you may just be able to finish a cycle in about twice as long as it should take. What used to be as simple as putting clothes in the machine and pressing 'start', is now a completely frustrating and aggravating experience.
Not completely relevant, but during this same period also had our top of the range Electrolux condenser dryer die 1 month outside of warranty. Took Electrolux one week to visit the machine, another week to take it away and another two weeks to tell us it was stuffed with no explanation of what the problem actually was. Thankfully, they did replace it for a new version of the broken model, but that too is now having problems (only 6 months after being replaced).
I understand stuff breaks every so often, but two machines from the same company (both of which were not in the 'cheapie' category) that have had significant problems within 2-3 years from purchase has left a sour taste. Who knows, maybe we just picked the 'dud' models in the Electrolux range, but based on these experiences, I cannot recommend Electrolux washers or dryers to anyone looking for a new machine and I can't see us buying another one in the future.

Impressed with cleaning ability and special programs – After happily using LG top loaders for years I decided to try a front loader again to save water, detergent and power. programs I usually choose; 1hour 30 mins to 4 hours. There is a quick 18 min cycle though for lightly soiled items which also works well and is handy for when visitors use sheets or towels for only a day or two.
I really loved the Bedding program specially for duvets, bedspreads and synthetic blankets. They came out so much cleaner and were easier to load as there was no agitator in the way. Even pillows came out smelling fresh! The agitator on my top loader was too rough on some of these items and the spinning cycle stopped a lot.
The Hand wash program was surprisingly good, no disasters so far. The Refresh Mixed or Cottons is an unusual cycle where clothes tumble in vapour that "removes odours and helps dewrinkle". I tried this on a quilt cover from the linen cupboard that was very creased and dried it on the line after the cycle. It was fresh and uncreased.
Another useful feature is Delay start so that the machine can be set to wash when your solar panels are maximising or to take advantage of off peak times if you will be out at those times.
This is an 8 Kg load model but only the two cotton programs, and the separate rinse or spin cycles will take 8 kg. For delicates, synthetic and mixed fabric loads the maximum is 4 kg. Handwashing and Woollens 2kg. As I had not much idea of how much the loads weighed I put the laundry basket on bathroom scales, adjusting for the weight of the basket, to optimize the washing performance. Alternatively the manual recommends full but not too tightly packed for cottons, drum no more than half full for synthetics and no more than one third full for delicates and woollens.
Choice magazine once did an article on how washing machines don't always have the capacity to actually wash the number of kgs stated. Quite often 6kg of clothes will either not fit in a 6 kg wahser or will be too tightly packed to wash properly. Most of us just put in what will fit comfortably. I was disappointed that not all loads were 8kg but it works well for cottons and 4kg of synthetics is actually quite a lot as they tend to be lighter than cottons.
The pros for this machine are cleaner, gentler wash, kinder to the environment and your pocket and very useful special programs. The cons are longer wash cycles than a top loader and you can't add in that forgotten sock once it has started.
