Kenwood Cooking Chef

LOVE LOVE LOVE my KM080 – I had a hand-me-down from mum years ago, and then about 15 years bought my own cooking chef KM080.... I have most of the attachments, mincer/sausage maker, blender, processor, fruit juicer, fruit press, ice cream maker! and a few more... I make the best risotto & then while serving that with steamed ginger fish (steamed in my cooking chef), I can… Read more
put my ice cream maker in there to prepare dessert in front of guests. If you follow instructions, and learn how to use their product you will love it. (Only reason I'm on Product Review right now is because I'm looking to upgrade my kChef KM080 even though there is nothing wrong with it and it all works fine, lol)
Unexpected Limitation – I have had my Kenwood Cooking Chef since the end of 2019. Today I discovered a severe limitation that I was unaware of. I was making Russian Fudge, a good, old-fashioned recipe. When I attempted to whip up the fudge, the machine sensed the heat and the beater became extremely slow, rendering this part of the process absolutely useless. Given that… Read more
there are several recipes where the ingredients need to be whipped up while very hot, it means the Kenwood Cooking Chef is totally unsuitable for those. What are we supposed to do? Buy a second appliance? While I understand that this is a safety feature, Kenwood needs to understand that some of us like to cook a large variety of items and we are adults who are able to make our own decisions and look after our own safety. I am deeply disappointed and will not recommend the Kenwood Cooking Chef to others.
Chefs kiss of cooking appliances – This is by far my favourite appliance in my home. It is a pricy appliance but worth every cent. It comes with some main attachments, & you can also buy additional attachments. It’s really a machine that does everything. From cutting all types of pasta, pealing your potatoes, cooking ragu to ice cream. This really is a chef in your own kitchen. … Read more
Compared to other self cooking machines, this holds 7L so if you are someone like me who prefers to cook in bulk this will definitely have the capacity to hold all your ingredients compared to others which usually hold a serving of 4 ppl.
Expensive. Stopped cooking just after warranty expired. E06 error. Cant get anyone to fix. Poor customer service – Mixer works well Cooker function doesnt work. Had E06 message seems to be a regular early fault. No help bc at all with repairs. Cant find anyone in cairns to help. Asked them to send to city repairer freight free but they didnt acknowledge request. Show details
I love it! – Been using mine for a number of years now with great, reliable results. Fantastic build quality and a real sturdy machine that shows no sign of slowing. A proper workhorse! Show details
Another E 06 problem – I have been a Kenwood user for more than 40 years and was thrilled when I received the cooking chef as a gift. I used the mixer all the time and it’s great. I love the large mixing bowl and the power of the engine. Have only used the cooking function no more than ten times and now I too am getting an e06 error. While the machine is around 6 years… Read more
old; given the low use of the cooking function and the cost of the machine I am very disappointed in Kenwood.
Okay machine but disastrous if any parts break because of horrendous customer service – I have mixed feelings about this machine. Many aspects of it are great - the bowl is huge, it's fantastic for making larger batches of things like dough and there are a heap of great attachments. BUT the parts are not durable and the customer service is terrible. The drive shaft for the food processor attachment broke after only a couple of years… Read more
of use, and when I tried to replace it Kenwood couldn't identify the correct part. I tried to purchase a replacement part but the part they sent was the wrong one - a different shape from the part that broke and wouldn't fit my machine. After multiple phone calls with Kenwood representatives insisting that "That's the correct part according to the system" and me saying "but it's different from the old part and it doesn't fit my machine" over and over as infinitum I gave up and sourced the correct part from ebay by using google images to identify which part number I needed. So the machine is great but it's pretty much impossible to get replacement parts because of the horrendous customer service, so if anything goes wrong it's a nightmare . I really regret my purchase and wish I'd bought a Kitchenaid instead!
Driving me Insane – Disappointing. I have used it once to cook and the second time I decide to steam some vegetables, it refuses to heat up and will not tell me why. There is no troubleshooting section in the thousand pages of accompanying literature and I am about to throw it out of the window.......in frustration. Show details
Excellent for cooks – If you want a million recipes already figured out for you and you think close enough is good enough, get a Thermomix- you won't be disappointed. If you want to cook and bake with room to grow to a more sophisticated level, get the kenwood cooking chef. You won't be disappointed. I got mine as a factory second for $950 (approx), in the end… Read more
persuaded because of price and the fact you get a proper dough hook for kneading with the cooking chef. This means it kneads dough in a way more similar to the human hand. TM kneads with the mixing blade in reverse. I make sourdough bread and this becomes really important when you want to develop the gluten in your dough without tearing the bonds you've just created. It's probably fine in a basic yeasted bread but for my purposes, no way.
Also, I like the feeling of Quality and multiplicity of the attachments that come with the cooking chef which allows for more versatility and ultimately a better end result because each attachment is purpose built. For some, this will be a downside. It definitely takes up more bench and cupboard space. Also, rather than processing straight into the bowl, you process in the food processor attachment then transfer to the bowl. And if you want to make a chunky soup smooth, TM will do straight in the bowl you cooked in, but with the cooking chef you'll need to transfer to the blender attachment.
I intend to spend the difference in price (that I paid) on extra attachments like meat grinder/sausage maker, grain mill, ice cream churner and pasta roller. I've already purchased the spice mill. It's great.
I love it but has the KM070 has a design fault kenwood won't recognise – I have had 2 KM070 first one I thought was dud it kept erroring 06 when trying to cook. Service man couldn't fix it, because I loved it so much I sold that one to someone who didn't want to cook with it as every thing else was perfect. I then go offered a secondhand one, I couldn't resist it so I bought it, I have had it for about 3 months and… Read more
same issue :( I have searched on Internet and have concluded is must be a design fault. I contacted kenwood pretty much they said "too bad" they now sell a KM080 so suggest that's probably fine. I'm so sad it has happened again and ever so disappointed in kenwood for a $2000 machine not very happy. I expected it to last for years and years my mum had one for 40 years any way my review is ... It is a fantastic machine I love it but say away from the KM070 model . Thanks
After contacting kenwood again, still they said too bad, very disappointed. I have had it repaired… Read more
Fantastic machine – Bought it instead of the thermomix and the kitchen aid for $1490 at peters of Kensinton in Sydney. It's great to have one machine instead of having to buy two machines for around $3000. It's also really easy to clean. You can use all your old recipes and they come out beautifully. It's so sturdy and strong you have no doubt it will survive hours… Read more
of cooking and beating. I'm so happy I love it. The range of attachments is fantastic. I've got rid of all my old appliances and I just have this now. I use it at every meal. I'm going to take it with me on holidays in the camper trailer so it will cook dinner for me while I sit under a palm tree. Its fantastic I love it!
Need more recipes! – I bought this over a year ago instead of the thermomix thinking it was a more versatile machine. I'm not a good cook and thought this would make cooking faster and easier. I've had no issues with with the machine itself but the recipes available are limited and rather gourmet. Not the kind of recipes to feed young families and for busy Mum's. I… Read more
wish now I had purchased the thermomix which has loads of available recipes. Hurry up Kenwood and produce some better cookbooks and recipes!!
Love it! It is your own personal kitchen assistant who do all the hard yakka for you! – I bought my Kenwood cooking chef as I wanted a good mixer as well as a machine that could fry onions and cook without me being there constantly .I also bought it as it has a larger capacity and is more versatile than the Thermomix. It cooks at a higher temperature than the Thermomix. Kenwood 140 degrees & Thermomix 120 degrees. The… Read more
attachments that come with the machine allow more versatility and make the cooking process more fun. You get seven slicing/ chopping blades with the food processor plus a blender and dough hooks and beaters that appear to be of commercial quality rather than domestic standard.
The capacity of the machine is more suited to a family.
So far I have made bread, soup, rice pudding , chicken in white wine, cake, potato bake and a Thai salad.
Also it was much cheaper as I bought it 30% off from David Jones. (Got Lucky) for $1399.30.
It can slice very finely and whip egg whites, knead bread dough which Thermo cannot. Very solidly built. It is very easy to use conventional recipes if you consider that you fry at the highest temperature and simmer at about 95 degrees . it also has a peep hole to check how things are doing.
I find I am using my Aussie cook books without rewriting recipes . Relax and it is virtually the same as a stovetop except the machine does the stirring for you.
The Kenwoodcookingblog.it site is easily translatable in Google and is fun to use.
Would I buy it again ? Definitely!

Absolutely love it !! – I made a tart pastry in the processor which took only seconds while I was putting that into the mini muffin pan the caramel filling was stirring itself to perfection everyone raved about them and yet they were so simple with my lovely new kitchen assistant !! Choux pastry was a breeze and bread dough not a problem at all!! I did originally own… Read more · 1
the thermomix tm5 (the latest one) I sold it as I didn't like the way it prepared meals there was no variation other than chopped or chopped it used to shred chicken you couldn't do a bolognese without it being like baby food unless you did the mince separate from the sauce well in the Kenwood it cooks bolognese again to perfection with the gentle stirring arm that keeps the consistency the way it ought to be. You can grate, blend, whip steam, you name it you can do it !! I got mine for $1500 from Harvey Norman and I love the attachments you can get for it. This machine is wayyyy over and above better than the thermomix I know as I've tried both !! The attachments are specific and do the job well rather than just doing the job the best it can with 4 blades and a butterfly that stays on only when it wants to !!! If you are tossing up between the two then for sure go with the Kenwood. I have also found that all of the thermomix recipes can be easily done in the Kenwood so don't worry about their not being specific sites for kenwood recipes as you can just use the thermo ones except they turn out better in the Kenwood !!!! Warranty is 5 years on the motor thermomix is only 2 !! 3 litre cooking capacity in Kenwood vs 2.2 in thermomix, and 6.7 litres for cold foods dough cream egg whites etc.. max temp kenwood 140c vs 120c in thermomix .... again go the kenwood I love it!!!
At last it works – So after my first review I was disappointed as the machine had failed straight away... After having my machine replaced I love it... Being able to cook 2kgs of mince in 5 minutes is amazing and saves me so much time and effort. I use it to make and pure all my baby's food and it only takes me minutes! I have used this machine to cater for my… Read more
girlfriends party and what a heaven sent it was.
I honestly use it everyday and if I don't cook in it daily, I at least use the attachments on a daily basis.
Can't see myself without it and I tell everyone about this machine!
If you are considering a thermomix like I did do your research properly... I love the K beater and the hook and the Whisk... You only get the butterfly attachment with the thermomix and I don't like it when whipping up egg whites properly... That is just me... anyway hope you find this helpful!
My Cooking Chef – I don't get the complaints on here. Every complaint is in warranty so just take it back? This machine is so much better then a thermomix. A thermomix means one consistency, the cooking chef lets you make whatever consistency you want. The bowl is bigger, yes there are more parts however it is easier to make multiple things without having to wash… Read more
the bowl each time, I use it for everything. totally in love. Got it for 1480 in peters of kensington! k
Expensive mixer – I live in the country its about a 6 hour round trip to town. I bought the KM070 when we moved down here thinking it would last me years. Fat chance ! The mixer works fine BUT after the first 6 months of use the E06 error code appeared when using the heat function. The unit was purchased from Clive Peeters, who closed their doors around the same… Read more
time, and with the tyranny of distance, was not able to return the unit. All in all a disappointing machine and I made the wrong choice in purchasing it.
Disappointed, regret purchase – I regret purchasing the cooking chef over the thermomix. It has been a massive disappointment. The cookbook obviously caters for the European palate. I tried to google recipes, I found a lot in different laugages which does not help me. With only a limited number of recipes I think the machine is useless. The support for thermomix users is… Read more
abundant - Facebook pages, blogs, web pages and forums. I bought it after my third child thinking it would be a great assistance to me. I don't have the time to try and convert recipes while raising my 5, 3 & 1yr children. I was told by the sale assistant all parts were dishwasher safe but after only afew washes the coating on the food processor handle flaked off and the handle is also loose. Today I made a potato and leak soup. I poured hot soup into the blender to find it was leaking. I emptied it, took off the parts, checked the instruction book to make sure I reattached everything correctly only to realise I was missing the circular rubber part (I'm assuming one of my children had got the their hands on it). From my limited use I have found the cooking chef seems to be better suited for sweets rather than savoury. I really hope more recipes become available in the near future or I have one very expensive kitchen ornament. The big bowl and the timer Not enough assistance/support with recipes
Great multi use appliance – Bought this two years ago and have used it every day and has not missed a beat. Use it for cooking casserole to pasta to soup to ice cream and baking cakes etc. Came with a range of attachments which have been useful. Honestly surprised at how usefull this machine is! Temperature control, excellent slow cooker. Very versatile machine and takes up… Read more
a relative small amount of bench space. None really it has performed as stated. No problems very happy.
Error E06 – I would have given this machine a 5 star rating but just over 2 years old and now getting an error E06 message when trying to cook with it. I have not used the machine that often over the past 2 years with it being in a cupboard most of the time for bench space. Today I go to use it and get an error message E06 which is not listed in the manual,… Read more
after googling find out its a message saying it needs a new control module on the machine, to say I'm not a happy camper is to say the least as the machine has been used possibly 30 times in 2 1/2 years and cooking side 10 at most. I am going to get onto Delongi (kenwood) and see if they will repair under warranty, but for something so expensive and I have bought most of the other attachments spending another approx $600 I am very unhappy and could not recommend this machine for the price of it. Will update when I get an answer from kenwood re repairing it Worked great when it did work Control module in machines are dodgy, google and you will see

A great machine – I bought the Kenwood Cooking Chef 2 months ago and am very happy with it. I was considering the thermomix but decided the Kenwood suited me better. Both the thermomix and kenwood have their advantages and disadvantages and at the end of the day they are both great machines and it is just a personal preference which one is chosen. is expensive in the long term it saves time in cooking, saves money from ordering take out and saves money at the grocery store since I make more things from scratch, and the food is better for you because its fresh and free from preservatives.
My favourite features include:
- It browns 2kg of mince and uses only 5 minutes of my time, whereas without the machine I would spend about 30 minutes standing over the stove top.
- It makes lovely fudge and all you do is add four ingredients (the you tube video for the fudge uses more ingredients but the recipe book the machine comes with only uses four ingredients) and it takes care of the rest (fudge on the stove top takes 10 minutes of hard mixing work!)
- It stirs the Bechamel Sauce so I don't have to, so I no longer buy the ready made sauces in the jar like I used to
- It includes a food processor and although not a large one it is still used a lot to grate cheese and veges with.
- Scrambled eggs or porridge can be made using the stirring tool for an effortless and healthy breakfast
- It's still a bench mixer and has the all the usual attachments for a bench mixer. I bake at least 3 times a week using the K-beater. I also make my own bread and pizza bases using the dough hook. It takes a lot of work out of cooking, I cook more at home using the Kenwood, All parts are dishwasher safe The recipe book it came with has a few disappointing recipes, bowl has a large capacity which is good but it can get heavy and difficult to handle at times, it takes time to learn to adapt everyday recipes to the kenwood
Stopped working after six months – When it worked, t was brilliant. But after only six months, whenever I pluged it in I kept ketting an E:09 error message. I clean the bowl area as sugested i the manual, and plug it back in, but the same error message keeps appearing. It is now a $2,000 paperweight and I wish I'd never bough the damn thing. Did lots of things well... ...until it stopped dead for no reason and refuses to work.
6 months means its under warranty - take it back!

What a magical Machine – When space is a problem, this little machine is magical. It does everything from mixing, induction cooking, baking, steaming to ice cream making. There is nothing this little beauty cannot do. Chuck away all your other appliances. This is all you need! Stylish and multi-function and cooks by itself. Quite expensive and additional parts hard to get Show 3 replies
Best mixmaster I have ever owned – I love my Kenwood Cooking Chef, it frees up so much time for me in the kitchen by doing all the repetitive tasks, and it does them to perfection. The temperature is precise and the mixing speeds are excellent. I have had 2 other Kenwoods in my time as a cook and this is the best. I still have my trusty old A703C and use this regularly. is thinking about buying a Kenwood Cooking Chef...don't think about it, go and do it. It will be the best investment in the kitchen you can possible make.
I happily give this fabulous machine a 12 out of 10 rating. I like everything about the machine. I can't find anything wrong with it.
Amazing machine – For serious cooks this no gimmick timesaving machine does everything in a large 6.7lt bowl. It cooks and stirs risottos, soups, curries, smooth mince sauces.Accurate temperatures, induction hob. Has a decent dough hook and whisk. I can live without it. No comparison to the smaller Thermomix. energy efficient, reliable value for money, heaps of optional attachments Show 5 replies
