you to make sure others make their purchasing decisions taking into consideration their reputation for poor service. Purchased January this year. First unit blew a motor first use. It was changed over by HN. Second unit now has a stuck speed switch. HN will not replace… told us to contact Kitchenaid or leave it with them to have it repaired. 4 weeks minimum which means no mixer at Xmas. So I have emailed kitchenaid. Started promisingly where they claimed we could send it back and it would be replaced. We asked 3 times whether it would be replaced with a new unit? No answer on 3 occasions. Received an email back finally apologising for delay. Didn’t answer our question. Starting to sense that the replacement is going to be a refurbished mixer not new…. Just refuse to answer our question. So here we are with still no response after 2 more emails. Now after feeling nervous about kitchenaid we are finding that their poor service and poor product quality is well documented. It also felt like they were going to send out a replacement, prior to us returning the faulty one but this changed. Not returning your emails is just poor service. In reading further anyone looking to purchase a kitchen aid mixer, make sure you are fully aware of the running time restrictions which are never mentioned by any HN sales staff. Well … I invite the head of kitchenaid to respond. We are still waiting for an answer on whether the replacement is new or someone’s old refurb… they just won’t answer the question. I note that kitchenaid monitor this site. No response whatsoever from kitchenaid. This is very worrying but completely in line with our experience so far. Here’s a further update… Still no mixer after receiving an email stating that kitchenaid were sending a new unit. I have now sent a further 4 emails chasing up delivery and no answer. This is laughable, how can this company provide such poor service. Just don’t purchase this companies products as their service is the worst I’ve seen. They monitor this site and… nothing just no response. What the hell are they doing? I’m now going to write to HN and provide all the emails to prove how difficult they have been. I will also attach them here so you can all see how poor this company is at service.

Update: After emailing HN they had to step in and discuss with their kitchenaid rep. He emailed admitting that the service team has misrepresented and incorrectly advised of procedures. He offered a replacement or refund through HN. We thank HN and the Rep for doing this but we just can’t accept the ridiculous waste of time and emails back and forward. Given the offer, we nervously replaced the faulty unit. Crossing our fingers. I would be more than happy to advise kitchenaid as to how to make a huge improvement to their customer service which in the long run will only improve sales.

Found this mixer to be quite expensive - the softening butter feature we used once or twice - it's a bit gimmicky. much easier to just soften butter… Read more

in the microwave or take it out a bit earlier and use a cheaper mixer

I don't know if ours was just a dud (although I notice a lot of the reviews complain about the noise), but ours emitted an excruciating high pitched whine when it was in the lower power settings (spare a thought for any dogs in the neighbourhood). So much, so that I would never use it at any setting that produced it and I cringed every time it was brought out.

Most recently when we turn it off after use, it has this electrical crackling sound (like it's sparking inside). I reached out to Sunbeam and after harvesting all my information and reviewing for a few days they didn't want to know about it as it was out of the 12 month warranty period.

For the cost I would not purchase this again: 1. Had I known about the noise, I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place, and 2. Given Sunbeam's lack of interest in the product fault, I can't say I would purchase another one of their products.

Gotten me a bit inspired – I've always wanted a fancy pants stand mixer, but seeing as I don't really do a huuuge amount of baking had trouble justifying the expense. Well now… Read more

I'm doing a whole lot more, have even managed to produce some goodies that don't elicit eye-rolls from my teenagers. High accolades indeed.

So am making a heap more. Usual stuff like brownies and cupcakes. Soooo much easier making gingerbread with this, it used to kill my wrists and my hand mixer was of no use. Meringue is still something I'm trying to master, more research needed. Purely operator inexperience there though.

Christmas gingerbread house is amazing. We could all end up the size of actual houses if I keep going!!

It's quieter than I thought it would be, super easy to attach/detach the mixxy thingos (again, not a huge amount of baking in my history).

I love the handsfree-ness of it. Chuck the stuff in and let her do her magic. Cleans up like a dream.

I did struggle a bit using the guard thing that goes over the top to stop me spraying aerosolised flour all over my kitchen haha

Just loses a star because the melty softening feature didn't really work that well for me. I just gave up and bunged the butter in the microwave. Even the chocolate, went back to my old method of blasting it in 10 second bursts in the microwave.

Surprisingly good – I’ve got an older Sunbeam handheld Mixmaster so I thought I knew what I was in for. I was expecting a light, low powered, handheld mixer but I was so… Read more

wrong.

The Sunbeam JMP1000WH is a high powered, sturdy, workhorse of a mixer. It has a whopping 6 speed settings with a burst button. It comes with two sets of attachments; beaters for cakes and meringue, and dough hooks for biscuits and bread. The mixer comes with a handy base case enclosure to keep everything together, and for only 250 watts it sure has some power.

I never imagined I’d be able to effortlessly beat perfect peaks for meringues but this outperformed my expensive stand mixer. There was no undissolved sugar stuck to the sides and no need to fold in the sides with a spatula. Cookie dough was easily combined with the dough hooks but the mixer did feel a bit heavy with the added resistance of a thicker mix.

This mixer retails at around $40 and is a great space saving addition to any cook’s kitchen.

me to remove from the cupboard. I kept all accessories that could be utilised with this one however I mostly make cakes, pastry, cheesecakes, puddings and some fancy breads. To date for the above it has worked as expected. Yesterday I cracked 5 eggs into the bowl then added 1 1/2 cups caster sugar and set the knob on 3 expecting the machine to beat the ingredients into a thick creamish mixture. As I have made this recipe, family one, for the last 65 years, yes I am ancient, I left the machine on the kitchen counter and imagine my surpise when it simply turned itself off after 5 minutes. I immediately thought ooppss! has it overheated? Nope the machine was still cold as a ..... ..... ... Checked that everything was attached and that it was not vibrating and yes and no. Waited 20 mins and turned to 3 again and it lasted 5 mins again. I am unable to do without a mixer ergo, what to do? shame as the weight, bowl size and attachments are great Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? I have the receipt from Harvey Norman and will try to get a better copy of the it as it has faded and is not copying properly

but as for kneeding dough you will need to do that by hand as this machine just is not capable of that. If you want to make complete bread dough from start to Finnish the spend more money on a larger machine. However this mixer is perfect for cakes, beating and whipping and general mixing. The speeds are just not geared lie enough to do bread dough kneeding. But not will mix the dough up to that stage. The speeds are 1-6 though 1 is not all that slow. The motor is really quite good and I've used it many times over 1 year. Still works as new. The bowl is top quality, and the base adjusts so as to auto rotate when beating. So all in all for such a small cost pretty hard to go past this if you like retro styling.

not worry, but thought it slightly unusual. I have probably made around 20 loaves of bread with it, a few cakes and a Pavlova. In the last couple of months I noted that it was sounding squeaky and mixing seemed a bit of an effort at speed. It is now with Prestige Repairs Adelaide. Apparently what I described was not normal and replacements parts for it have been ordered! For a hardly used new machine, costing $529, to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. My first Kenwood lasted 20 years, the 2nd hand was virtually new and lasted 20 years, the third 2nd hand, 7 years. I treated myself to a brand new one this time. I am now without a mixer, awaiting a part and I am truly miffed. I feel that I have been sold a dud and that the Kenwood quality has slipped.

I would really like a machine to use while this is brand new machine is awaiting parts and this could be no time soon.

Absolutely Excellent! – I almost bought a thermomix but I am so glad I did a Google search before the demonstration and saw this machine. It can do everything the Thermomix… Read more

does and then some. Recipes for any other thermal cooking machine can be easily converted (I got heaps of tips from the Hotmix Tips and Recipes Facebook group). The higher temperature range means that caramelising can be done. The degree by degree and wait temp function (ie. It can stop cooking or cook at a certain temperature after a temperature has been reached) are amazing for jams, custards, egg sauces and so on. It can knead unsupervised too unlike the thermomix. And you can save recipes as you go straight into the machine. The lack of scales makes no difference - I either pop the bowl on scales I have and measure into it, or if I need to be careful about putting too much of an ingredient in (as with liquids you can't just take it out if you poor too much in) I use a separate bowl. Oh and bamboo baskets or normal steamer inserts fit on top of the machine as a varoma replacement without taking more cupboard space. If you're going to fork out the money for a thermomix, these machines are definitely worth considering. It has all the pros of a thermomix, plus is programmable, a bigger temperature range and beget temperature abilities. Not as many recipes, but there's so many thermomix recipes online that work too for extra ideas. Plus after a while you get so used to the machine you can convert your own recipes just like you can with a thermomix.

mixing process, notably with creaming butter / sugar. You also have to stop the machine to add extra ingredients, making it especially difficult and tricky if you want to slowly add an ingredient. So a poor design, particularly for using a spatula on the sides while the machine is running (dangerously impossible), or for adding ingredients during the mixing process (very awkward & difficult). The machine is robust, and presents well and is easy to clean. But I miss my old cafe series mixer and this new style is a backwards step. The baked goods are just as good as previous, but it's a more difficult cooking process.

it will be replaced but JB HiFi took it to send it for assessment in NSW, I live in Qld.I showed the video plus anyone could have seen that the bowl does not lock in properly and spins around with slight twist.I had other Chinese cheap mixers before which died early due to the internal gear or Motor failure but none had the bowl issue even with plastic base. I bought this one due to good reviews plus it cost $599 on sale. Also when the bowl came off it kept spinning with the kneading hook banging around and my wife panicked ,but I quickly switched off the power, whew!Video attached. Apart from this issue its a powerful mixer and worked really well as the motor and transmission etc must be very good. I am just disappointed thats all plus the time it will take for the unit to be sent to NSW then assessed.Eta by JB Hi Fi staff was upto 6 weeks but I am thinking might be more due to the timing ie near Christmas.

From the start, the machine kept showing the E22 error, asking me to turn it off and on again. This happened repeatedly, wasting my time and ruining my food. I contacted customer service, and they told me to take it to the service center. After four weeks, they replaced parts, but the problem continued.

I requested a refund, but they refused, asking me to bring it back for another inspection. I even tested it in front of them with food, and they saw the error happen multiple times. I also emailed the company, attaching videos as proof of the malfunction, but despite this, their customer service completely ignored my emails and failed to respond.

Customer service not only refused to acknowledge the problem but also insisted the machine was in "perfect condition" and advised me to take it home. This is unacceptable.
