Great Performer – OK, so I purchased this mixer just over two years ago now and it is used at least weekly to mix dough for bread and pizza. So it is working hard. I had originally intended to buy a different brand, (one of those 'eye candy' ones) but was talked out of it by the salesperson after I revealed I would mainly use it for dough, he suggested this… Read more
machine as it had a higher KW rating than the one I intended to buy. It is a good performer and has never let me down. I would buy again tomorrow. I also use the mincer attachment which works just fine and it came with an Ice-cream maker which, is still in the cupboard in original wrapping. Never used it. To fault it, well it's petty, but the lever which unlocks the top arm so as it will swing up can be a little fiddly and the bowl is very tight to undo on the rubber seal. That's it. Nothing really. At least the bowl will not move whilst mixing! Oh, and it's not as 'Aesthetically' pleasing as some of the competition.
Exactly what I was looking for – I've only had it a month but already it's my best friend in the kitchen. Its sturdy, robust, the motor seems to be doing fine, doesn't sound noisy or like it's struggling. So far I have used it for my daily dough (I'm Pakistani, we eat handmade flatbreads almost daily) and cakes (has cut down mixing time by half). For the dough I use the dough… Read more
hook obviously, for cakes I've been using the flexi beater, but have been thinking of using the k-beater just to see the difference. With the flexi beater, I haven't had to scrape down the bowl at all, and cakes turn out light and fluffy. Dough is smooth and perfect for making roti by hand. Even if I get the water amount wrong, it's still so smooth and stretchy that I have no problems with hand stretching. If hand-kneaded dough is too soft or hard, it poses a bit of a problem, but not so with this!! Everyone should have a Kenwood mixer in their kitchen. I bought mine for $329, would never trade it for a KitchenAid ever, even if someone wanted to trade!!
Good sturdy machine – Love this machine. Received as an engagement present 6 years ago and still using it daily. Hasn't skipped a beat. I use the blender daily. Makes up to 4 large smoothies easily in one batch. We make dough every few weeks and it works great, doesn't sound like it's struggling at all. Whips us great cakes, but you do need to scrape the bowl often… Read more
(looking at getting the new scraper whisk thing). Have the ice cream attachment and makes a great batch of this too. We also have the sausage maker attachment which we have used once and it worked fine, but too messy a process for us! This is a solid, sturdy machine. Nearly everything is sold steel. The only plastic bit is the power knob - hasn't broken or anything but strange that the thing you use most is plastic. Splashguard is a bit weird, seems loose, but never had it fall down during mixing etc, so I guess it works. Also, beware this is a noisy machine. It packs in a lot of power on full blast and this will naturally make a lot of noise. But this means I never have to worry about burning out the motor.
I love it and use it all the time – I bought at a factory second at a reasonable price and it was delivered promptly. The splash guard and scraper accessories are invaluable. Also received a dough hook beater and whisk. The stainless bowl is a good size but the rim is thin and there are no handles. The motor deals with everything I throw at it and is not too noisy. Invaluable for making Italian frosting! Show details
Cheap and cheap – not like the old one that kept on going. dont buy it. Cover broke long ago, mixing dough looks a struggle for it. Plastic rubbish. very disappointed in it. running out of things to say. Show details
I don't recommend this product for dough making, but you can use for cake mixing or for whipping cre – I purchased this item 3 years ago from curry.First day of use oil was pooling and dripping out of the hole where the beaters are inserted. Exchanged to new one. Then new one was too noisy and very hard to remove the mixing bowl. The product is not stable at all.I have used K bitter and whisker for cake mixing.dough maker broken after using 4 times… Read more
within a year. Couldn't replace it, because it was over a warranty. So I Had to buy new one, but it is really hard to cope with the noise it makes whenever I use the dough hock. So I am only using it for cake not for the dough. Very poor quality of product. Nor recommend it for dough makers
First and replacement unit both had the same fault. Quality control issue? – I bought this unit online from BING LEE more than 6 weeks ago. It was around $400 plus a nominal amount for postage. I wanted to see if it would knead dough well enough to replace our aging bread maker. The first unit that was sent had a fault in the variable speed dial. On the pulse (maximum) setting it seemed to work fine, but adjusting the… Read more
variable speed dial resulted in a slow irregular speed that did not increase as the dial was turned between minimum and maximum settings. I contacted Kenwood and they said to return it to the retailer. So we boxed it up and returned it without doing our dough test. It took three weeks to receive a replacement after the retailer confirmed that yes, the machine was indeed faulty. The second machine was unpacked and set up for the big test, but alas! this new unit had exactly the same fault! Spoke to the lovely telephone operator at Kenwood who thought it must be a 'faulty batch' coming from Bing Lee. (Really? Don't they do quality control at Kenwood?) She thought it might be best to return the unit and get a refund. I suppose that's one way to get rid of a problem.
Now a further three weeks later we don't have a machine and we still don't have a refund, because Bing Lee is waiting for their experts to confirm that the second unit is also faulty.
The upshot is that after 6 or 7 weeks of mucking around I have still not been able to test this KMC510 machine for batching dough, and I guess I should go and buy a machine from another manufacturer with hopefully better quality control. Might go to another retailer while I'm at it. Maybe you should too...
Very well made and easy to use and clean – We were given this as a wedding present and it works very well. Came with Whisk, Planetary mixing blade and dough hooks. It is very easy to use and very Easy to clean (put it in the dishwasher). Came with the meat mincer which works well too. i highly recommend this mixer
Excellent product – I just bought a KMC510 from Kenwood as a factory second. It was missing the food mincer and the creaming beater but came with the K beater, whisk, dough hook, bowl, splash guard and spatula. Kenwood had advertised that on their site in big red letters so I knew I wasn't getting them. The mincer is no loss because I'm unlikely to have a use for… Read more · 3
that but I might buy the creaming beater separately. I just used it to make a cheesecake and it is fantastic, the motor is powerful (I don't know when you'd ever use full speed) and the bowl is a great size. As a factory second I paid $281 for it and I couldn't be happier. I'm not sure why it was a second (possibly returned with a problem) but it has been refurbished and it works perfectly. It has no scratches or marks and you would never know that it wasn't a new item (other than those missing attachments). I'm very pleased to have a solid, metal bodied Kenwood with the high and low speed power takeoffs for the price of a plastic bodied machine.
I love this machine, highly recommend – This machine is so awesome. I bought it at Harvey Norman in Kalgoorlie for $448 (which is a lot cheaper than they used to be) and it's worth every penny. It came with the K beater, creaming attachment, dough hook, splashguard, whisk and the mincer attachment. I have used all the attachments and this machine powers through everything. It makes… Read more
perfectly whipped meringues and powers through dough making.
I love the mincing/sausage making attachment which came free with the stand mixer (they're $169 if bought separately). I really like the mincing attachment, it's made out of heavy duty solid steel, I do believe the kitchenaid is made out of plastic?. I am planning on buying the continuous slicer/shredder asap, to make fresh coleslaws etc. And definitely the ice cream/frozen dessert bowl attachment. Then in the future the pasta roller and maker. I am so happy with this stand mixer it does absolutely everything under the sun that you would expect from a professional stand mixer. I recommend this to anyone in the market looking for a stand mixer.
Very useful machine! – We had this given to us as a gift and we've loved it from the start. Solid design, easy to use and take apart for cleaning (especially because it's dishwasher friendly). Love all the attachments and the different things you can do with it. Has made baking a lot easier since this replaced our old mixer. No problems with ours, has worked perfectly since day one.
Baker's Helper – Huge stainless bowl that withstand heat such as melted sugars and candy's which is good if you bake from scratch regularly. attachments such as the dough hook is very good and practical. You can mix dough without all the kneading required. easy to use. easy to clean only down side is that the machine is a little heavy but thats because its… Read more

I'm very happy with this machine and have had it for 4 years with no problems
I use it nearly every day – I bought this nearly a year ago and I use it all the time for almost everything! I also bought the liquidiser and shredder/slicer attachments. Nothing too hard for this machine. I use it to prepare so many things - coleslaw, burgers, cakes, soups, chips, you name it. I've yet to use the mincer but everything else is fabulous. It's great that you… Read more
can buy spare parts if ever needed in the future.
Only negative is the cost of attachments. I would have been better off buying the more expensive model which had extra attachments included in the deal. Also, the food processor attachment does not match this model - you need separate attachments for shredding/slicing and for finely chopping. The newer models are designed for the food processor attachment.

Leaks oil from the first day of purchase - disappointed – I purchased a Kenwood Premier Chef KMC510 in November last year. From the very first use, I noticed oil was pooling and dripping out of the hole where the beaters are inserted. I persisted with wiping the oil away, and risked some of it dripping into my mixtures and batters. My Husband made a valid point that the oil would eventually run out.… Read more
Not to mention, that it was a health risk and messy inconvenience that I should not have to deal with. As my machine was still under warranty, I returned it to the place of purchase with my receipt, after 9 months. This machine did perform very well, although was quite noisy when in use. I will wait a while and may consider purchasing a different model Kenwood Chef, based on more research and reviews. I thoroughly recommend purchasing an extended warranty with any electrical appliance.
Disappointing – I had to exchange mine within 2 weeks of buying it. It would cut out at high speed and go off and on! I used the new one a few days ago and again did the same thing. I am wondering if there is a fault with these machines?? I will be returning the second machine this week. Seriously thinking about buying a different brand!
Still getting used to it but no problems so far – I recently bought this machine and have had no problems with it so far...making sausages ..cakes...i think it is too noisy but then this may come with most well made machines, i have a thermo mix as well and its noisy. I have found you can buy a machine and it may last years and years..then you buy another and it breaks down very quickly and it… Read more
can be the same brand/model. There are lemons and there are quality lemons:) read the manual is a must! and experiment. I am planning on getting the attachments which I feel makes it a really good all rounder machine.
Mine is a dud – Leaks oil. Variable speed needed replacing (at my expense) Scraper attachment only scrapes the left side (I checked it wasn't a faulty bowl by switching the spinning the bowl 180). Either the attachment is faulty or the machine is lopsided. Can't do dough, see below, even with smaller batches and using the manual recommendations As it… Read more
ages Motor speeds up and slows down at random under load, much more than when it was new.
It's less than 3 years old. Really disappointing considering I took a long time picking this machine, farm machinery noise levels and all.
ok for large batches – I find it useless for smaller batches of anything. ok on larger batches but need to scrape down the bowl manually. very noisy. doesn't aerate eggs or whipped cream properly and most things turn out stoggy. bread mixes don't rise well either.......... persevered for 3 years..... sold it and bought a bosch with 900w motor.. very happy
Love it – Got this mixer as a birthday present 2 years ago - I had researched extensively and preferred this over others because of its more powerful motor, proven record, and more attachment options. I love it! I use it regularly to make bread, pavlova, sponges, biscuits, cheesecakes. Clean up is easy because its just one bowl. It came with the k-beater,… Read more
dough hook, whisk, flexi-beater and mincer, which all I've used extensively, very easy to use and with great results everytime. I also want to buy the ice cream maker and blender attachments, and eventually the slicing attachment. It really is a 'kitchen machine'. I like how it looks too, nice and sturdy - I have it in white.
Good sturdy work horse – I've had my KMC510 for about a year now and I love it. It's a good sturdy machine. I use all the basic attachments regularly, have used the sausage maker attachment once and the ice cream maker a number of times. It's not bench candy, like some brands that look great, but I just wanted a good, solid machine that would last me for years to come.… Read more
The only down-side I see to Kenwood is that their customer relations aren't great. I've tried to purchase a blender and/or food processor attachment but their website says they're out-of-stock and when I email them they tell me it is in stock (!?). I also asked them how the food processor/blender attachments perform in comparison to a dedicated unit and was told they're about the same. Unlike some companies, they also don't comment or offer assistance on these types of forums. If anyone does have the food processor or blender attachment, I would love to know what they think of them.
Not bad at all – I love it! Sure, it gets loud when you use higher speeds and CAN jump around a TINY bit when the speed is near highest...but I never have to use it on such a high speed for it to do that and I've walked away from it whilst it did its thing with no issues. No matter what brand machine I use, I've always had to scrape the sides occasionally. Between… Read more
low to medium speeds have been perfect for everything. I've made perfect doughs with this, baked all sorts of yummy cakes and made icing. I've minced meat and made meatballs/patties etc. I look forward to using it all the time. My family no longer buys bread from the supermarket....or doughnuts...or cakes...and a few other things, lol. I'm very happy with my purchase and remember what it's like to cook with love when I use my mixer. As corny as that sounds, I can honestly say I love baking and cooking again. Oh, I bought the 1 year warranty with it aswell and I'm pretty sure you can purchase up to 4 or 5 year warranties. User friendly, sturdy and heavy, powerful, mixes well The metal part in the middle that helps lift the head was a little greasy out of the box but I wiped it off and no more issues thus far.
Leaks oil – I bought my first Kenwood mixer 42 years ago and I loved it. I gave it to my daughter and it's still performing beautifully today. I treated myself to a brand new mixer but we moved house not long after I bought it and remained unopened in storage during the 12 month warranty period. I've only used it twice and each time it has leaked oil into my… Read more
mixture. As it was out of warranty I had to pay to get the oil changed by a Kenwood repairer. It still leaks oil and isn't safe to use. All I can say is I'm just so dissapointed and would never recommend Kenwood to anyone again.
Leaks oil and insufficient warranty period.

I don't know what all the fuss is about! – I bought a Kenwood Chef Premier and after using it four times I quickly came to the realisation that it's a lackluster machine. The K Beater doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl (and it's one of the attachments that aren't adjustable), the noise it makes is ridiculous and it shakes around terribly. I can't cream butter and sugar without constantly… Read more
scraping down the bowl. I haven't even bothered to attempt using the dough hook, if it shakes around when I'm only creaming butter and sugar I don't want to even fathom what will happen when I'm mixing bread dough.
I don't know if there's something wrong with my machine, or if this is normal. But for $450 I was expecting something great. Especially with all the good reviews the machine gets online.
I have contacted Kenwood. Hopefully I can get a refund.
I've gone back to using my $39 Sunbeam hand mixer. It's quite attractive, comes with a lot of attachments for the price, the bowl is nice and big Unbearably noisy, shakes around, constantly need to scrape down the sides
My best friend in the kitchen! – Did the research and this was the machine for me. I needed a powerful mixer that could handle daily use. Baking bread has never been easier with my Kenwood doing all the hard work. Whips and beats and kneads perfectly, I am actually looking forward to the Christmas baking this year with this great little helper. The machine is easy to clean and… Read more
the splatter guard that comes with it is brilliant. The mincer attachment that came with it in the box also gets a good work out, it has 3 sized plates for coarseness, and also has a sausage maker attachment I am looking forward to trying out.
All in all, this is a tough, high performance quality machine. I did have to save up for this one but was it was truly worth it. Powerful, reliable, easy to use.
Great machine – I wanted a machine that had a good support base with reliability and ease of use being very important. This machine so far has deliverered and then some. I make lots of Pasta and the dough this machine produces is the best, although I dont follow Kenwoods recipe. Not a cheap item but it is very well made, so you get what you pay for. every… Read more

Love my Kenwood Premier Chef – My Grandmother had a Kenwood Chef for over 40 years and it was still in excellent working order when she passed away, I am sorry I had to sell it. with it. Plus the other attachments which are available mean you don't have to have 20 different machines for different things. Easy for future birthday presents. Manual jobs that used to take ages can be done so easily with the Chef, with a powerful 1000w motor. I absolutely love my Chef and take delight in using it. I can't wait to get into the kitchen and cook. Ease of use and reliable, solid, metal construction Husband says a little on the noisy side, but that does not really bother me
Brilliant – I have a very large family. 2 adults and 6 kids! I've always baked cookies, cakes, slices, pancakes, bread and other stuff to not only save money, but so that I know what is going into my food. I've owned other mixers, mainly Sunbeam and other low cost brands. But NONE compare to the strength of the Kenwood! It powers through a 500gm butter, 4… Read more · 1
cups of flour mix with no problems whatsoever! Other brands can't seem to do this doubling of my basic cookie dough. My shortbread is properly blended, icing is perfect every time, bread is mixed and kneaded in a very short time and my meringues and macaroons are so light and fluffy! I used to buy pastry, now I make my own. I can do so much more with the Kenwood. Not to mention the time I'm saving! I used to spend 8 or 9 hours in the kitchen every Sunday doing the weekly bake, now it's 4 hours and I've got more time to play with the kids.
Nobody else has mentioned the recipe book that comes with the Premier Chef, it is awesome! I use the bread recipe every day, short crust pastry (apple crumble pie) at least once a week and I'm slowly trying all the others.
I just wish I could find the attachments, I cant wait to use them all. I will never buy another mixer. The Kenwood looks great on its stand and the kids love to help feed it through the see through splatter guard, which has saved my kitchen floor from flour explosions! powerful, good capacity, so easy to clean, easy to use Wish I could find the attachments
Finally after years of wishing – I'd been wanting a benchtop mixer for ages and was originally looking at a KitchenAid, but after asking around it became obvious I was looking in the wrong place - almost everyone I talked to had a Kenwood. My best friend has her mothers old one from 1976 and still going strong, my Aunty is a kitchen whizz and has both a KitchenAid and a Kenwood… Read more
and the KitchenAid is the one that lives in the cupboard unless she needs them both - and she give that the lighter tasks!
Egg whites come out perfect, and the K beater makes the best butter cream icing I have ever seen! I haven't tried the scraper mixing attachment but I'll give it a go when I make a cake what needs it. It also came with the mincing attachment which will be interesting to use - Dad's a butcher so its unlikely I'll use it much but I was surprised by how solid the construction of it was.
The 1000W motor is definately capable, I made my butter cream icing with not quite soft butter and it turned it to nice smooth icing with ease... now looking forward to seeing how it copes making pasta dough! It can be a little noisy when going full speed but no more than my blender or food processor!
I'm not too fussed about the attachments, I looked in the included recipe book and I have the majority of them already in other forms - when they need replacing I'll probably track them down. Cheaper than other popular alternatives, capable, extra included attachments Not the prettiest
the iconic Kenwood chef – I coverted this machine as a child when a neighbour bought one. I was 38 before I could get a Chef and have been using mine (a previous model) since. The motor is so strong, it can handle the heaviest of cakes, doughs, or minces, The attachments are all marvellous and they go on forever. I know that machines that my mother's friends bought in the 70s are still working away.
Amazing, so versatile and many options available – I love this machine, theres nothing it can't do (and if you find something it can't do, there's probably an attachment out there that can) Mine came with the mincer and blender attachments which are really useful, and I have also got the pasta maker and sieve attachments as well I use it pretty much everyday and it has never let me down It does everything, very powerful Attachments can be hard to come by Show reply
The most-used appliance in my kitchen – I was given the Premier Chef for my 21st Birthday this year from my extended relatives. It is a wonderful machine, makes light work of heavy tasks, and makes good use of its very powerful motor. I have used it to whip up dozens of perfect pavlovas, many cakes, and kneaded pasta dough. It takes it all in its stride and is a pleasure to use. My… Read more
housemate owns a KitchenAid, and what the Kenwood lacks in aesthetics, it more than makes up for in grunt. I used her KitchenAid to knead some hot cross buns and it just couldn't hack it. The Kenwood gets on with the job with ease.
I plan to get many years of use out of my Kenwood - just as my mother has out of hers (which she bought in the 70s, and is still in good working order. Mine's certainly quieter, though!) The flexi-beater is the most useful tool for all manner of cake batters, and is the tool I turn to most - no need to keep scraping the bowl down. The included meat mincer is a lot of fun to use. I have confidence even when mixing heavy loads - even if the motor sounds like it's working hard, you can trust its power to keep going strong. Very good, sealed bowl cover. Hard to find attachments, and they are quite expensive.
