KitchenAid Stand Mixer

Well I have tried to be reasonable and give kitchenaid every chance to provide service. But quite frankly they drive you to frustration and force you to make sure others make their purchasing decisions taking into consideration their reputation for poor service. Purchased January this year. First unit blew a motor first use. It was changed over… Read more
by HN. Second unit now has a stuck speed switch. HN will not replace… told us to contact Kitchenaid or leave it with them to have it repaired. 4 weeks minimum which means no mixer at Xmas. So I have emailed kitchenaid. Started promisingly where they claimed we could send it back and it would be replaced. We asked 3 times whether it would be replaced with a new unit? No answer on 3 occasions. Received an email back finally apologising for delay. Didn’t answer our question. Starting to sense that the replacement is going to be a refurbished mixer not new…. Just refuse to answer our question. So here we are with still no response after 2 more emails. Now after feeling nervous about kitchenaid we are finding that their poor service and poor product quality is well documented. It also felt like they were going to send out a replacement, prior to us returning the faulty one but this changed. Not returning your emails is just poor service. In reading further anyone looking to purchase a kitchen aid mixer, make sure you are fully aware of the running time restrictions which are never mentioned by any HN sales staff. Well … I invite the head of kitchenaid to respond. We are still waiting for an answer on whether the replacement is new or someone’s old refurb… they just won’t answer the question. I note that kitchenaid monitor this site. No response whatsoever from kitchenaid. This is very worrying but completely in line with our experience so far. Here’s a further update… Still no mixer after receiving an email stating that kitchenaid were sending a new unit. I have now sent a further 4 emails chasing up delivery and no answer. This is laughable, how can this company provide such poor service. Just don’t purchase this companies products as their service is the worst I’ve seen. They monitor this site and… nothing just no response. What the hell are they doing? I’m now going to write to HN and provide all the emails to prove how difficult they have been. I will also attach them here so you can all see how poor this company is at service.
Update: After emailing HN they had to step in and discuss with their kitchenaid rep. He emailed admitting that the service team has misrepresented and incorrectly advised of procedures. He offered a replacement or refund through HN. We thank HN and the Rep for doing this but we just can’t accept the ridiculous waste of time and emails back and forward. Given the offer, we nervously replaced the faulty unit. Crossing our fingers. I would be more than happy to advise kitchenaid as to how to make a huge improvement to their customer service which in the long run will only improve sales.
Excellent, highly recommended. The rubber edged beater actually works as intended. If you like cooking this is a perfect choice, they last decades. Lots of optional attachments. I have the pizza roller & the mincer. I use the mincer to coarse grind veges for soups & casseroles as well as making my own mince. Show details
Having owned KitchenAid stand mixers for the last 30 years, I was expecting everything with my new mixer to be top quality. The Juniper colour is lovely and the two bowls are impeccable. However two things stood out as lacking: the durability of the whisk and the loose fit of the stainless steel band with the KitchenAid logo. Within a few weeks… Read more
the whisk started to oxidise badly and would leave black marks on my fingers when handling it. The retailer said the whisk was now made from aluminium and shouldn't be put in the dishwasher - news to me as all my previous KitchenAid whisks survived my dishwashers without an issue! A warranty claim was made in April, but remains unresolved three months later as KitchenAid keeps on asking for details which I provided with my original warranty registration submitted at the time of purchase. Why ask customers to register their warranties if they can't reference the details in the future? The loose fit of the metal logo band means splashed food gets underneath it and is hard to clean. I would expect such an expensive mixer would not have such a poor fitting component that makes cleaning more difficult. Operationally, the mixer continues to work well, so 3 stars from me (down from 5 stars for my previous three KitchenAid stand mixers). UPDATE: In late July I received a call from KitchenAid saying my warranty claim had been delayed by the retailer (shifting blame) and that a new whisk would be sent to me. I received a whisk a few weeks later that appeared to be reconditioned (the aluminium collar seemed to have been polished back to the base material with a wire brush) and included with the replacement was a card stipulating "Hand Wash Only." I'm happy to have a whisk to use at last but am disappointed it wasn't replaced with a new one.

Fun and functional – I love my KitchenAid stand mixer. It whips up cream in no time, making dessert prep so much easier. Making cake batter is a breeze, and the dough hook has quickly become a favourite for cinnamon scrolls and bread—perfect every time! This year I used it to make my Christmas cake, which had turned out perfect. On top of being incredibly functional,… Read more
it’s absolutely gorgeous on my countertop and I love the colour range to select from - mine is Blue Velvet. The bowls are super easy to clean, which is such a bonus when you’re tackling multiple recipes. I recently added the ice cream bowl to my collection, and I’m absolutely loving it. Highly recommend this mixer.
Kitchenaid swayed me from Kenwood – After owning a Kenwood Chef since 1974, i was very Kenwood biased. The Kenwood Chef was a reliable appliance during its 50 years baking with me. However, after much research I decided on, and purchased the Kitchenaid Artisan KSM195 in Matt Black, and am so pleased that I did. What swayed me from Kenwood? First, they are no longer made in the UK,… Read more
they are manufactured in China. Secondly, they have electronic components that, though might be handy, I am not interested in eg scales, butter softener. In my experience, the longevity of appliance lifespan is mostly determined by the relatively short viability of its electronic components. My first mixer was a workhorse, and that is what i wanted to replace it with. The price of the Kitchenaid can be offputting, but I got a good deal in Boxing Day sales. The Kitchenaid is hefty and sits sturdily on the bench during use, even while using the dough hook for bread making. The motor is so much quieter than the Kenwood that I owned (I cant compare noise to modern Kenwoods). The accessory tools are functional. A good range of add ons are available if desired. And the matt black makes this work horse a bit of a show pony as well. This Kenwood baker has been converted by the Kitchenaid. I won't live to see it give 50yrs of use like the Kenwood, but I have confidence that it will serve me well.
Yeah ANOTHER Kitchenaid product that didnt stand the test of time – As with most modern Kitchenaid products they don't last like they used to. I have had mine for some time however it's not used very often and for some reason the arm locking mechanism no longer works. Given Kitchenaid is no longer the most reliable brand I have no idea where to turn. I had a blender which was replaced twice with dead motors… Read more
before they told me my original warrantee had ended, and the small hand mixer that still works however with such a poorly designed bowl you couldn't submerge it in water to wash.
Wonderful mixer! A must for any avid baker – I'm so glad I bought this sturdy quality mixer! I bought the beautiful pistachio colour which matches my kitchen and is so aesthetically pleasing! It comes with a dough hook which I'm so excited to use to start making bread in the Christmas holidays! I highly recommend this mixer for anyone who is serious about their cooking! Show details

Best mixer ever!! – Loving it! Makes baking so much easier! I absolutely am over the moon with how well built it is. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to spend time in the kitchen creating delicious dishes and baking! Money well spent. The accessories make it even more convenient too! Show details
Still Going Strong – I have had my mixer since 2011 and it's still going strong. It's never skipped a beat. It does everything as described. The only extra attachment i own is the scraper paddle attachment which is the only paddle attachment I use. The attachment that doesn't get much use is the dough hook. But it's there if i ever need it. After 10 years I did… Read more
notice some oil leaking, but it's only minor and not something that bothers me too much. The 2 black knobs have snapped off but this does not effect it's use, more just the aesthetic.
I think this mixer is worth investing in. I have nothing but great things to say about quality and performance. It's a workhorse and can whisk meringue with ease. I understand the price point is high, which at the time was a big splurge and something I didn't take lightly. There has been 0 regrets.
Beautiful, functional, never hide it away – Custom service above reproach. My mixer was accidentally damaged and kitchenaid replaced it with a brand new machine including my engraved name that I had in the original machine. This was done as an act of good faith and without my asking. I love my machine and kitchenaid service. Show details

My first stand mixer was a kitchen aid and loved it. I purchased another one and gave my brother the first one, I have had nothing but trouble with this one. Tried making a small batch of dough for the first time last year and it packed up. they honored the warranty and fixed it up for me. Not even a year passed since the first repair and it’s giving me problems again. I don’t do any dough in this one as I I was too scared to, so I purchased the proline for that. ( fingers crossed, that wouldn’t be a problem as well) I phoned kitchen aid and the first customer service person was really nice once I explained my dilemma. Said it shouldn’t be the case and went through my records and saw I had purchased the proline as well. Said he will raise a case number and for me to send a video of the issue. I tried to send it through the information he emailed me but just didn’t work. Called kitchen aid assistance once again to explain, and this time it was someone else. Everything changed from what the first person told me. She then proceeded to ask the guy what he told me , and he apparently said he was referring to my proline. Obviously he had made a mistake and didn’t want to admit it. The second assistant was not at all helpful and to be honest had an I don’t care I can’t help you attitude. I called again to speak with the first assistant, but she at first was reluctant to give him the phone saying he was busy on another call, she told me he would call back, but still waiting. So disappointed with the service considering this is my third kitchen aid. I personally think their service and standards of the machine has gone down. They refuse to help me out saying it’s not their problem anymore that I will have to get it fixed. I don’t mind that, but if it continues they won’t give me any solutions to getting another machine. Angry and disappointed.
Over a month, still waiting for the product. I brought this on the 6th May as a mothers day gift. It was meant to be a great surprise and a special gift (she had been hinting for years). Here we are over a month later and still it hasn't arrived. She is so disappointed she has said I should just cancel the purchase. I have emailed and enquired to… Read more
the delay and the response i got was "yes we didn't get this right", but there was no effort to correct things. Normally at this point you would expect some customer service to rectify things. Only a promise that it would come in a couple of weeks. That time has come and past and still no product. I get that the product might be low in stock in NZ, but then it should mention that at the time of purchase, many other retailers do. It appears that they were not only low on stock but there was no stock in the country for our order. Could you not at least get one sent from a local supplier to us? Offer a conciliatory product voucher to make the wait feel less painful? It feels a lot like you just dont care....

Rarely use the mixer. have had it for about 18 month and it has stopped working motor still running but beaters will not move. very dissapointed. the appliance, compared to others on the market I would have expected it to last and not break down. at least I would have expected a product replacement, instead of repair as now I am without the mixer for, who knows when? not worth the money should have got a kenwood instread.

Unreliable Replacement Process for Expensive KitchenAid Mixer-5KSM150PSAER I bought a KitchenAid stand mixer in January 2025. The coating on the accessory peeled off, making it unsafe to use. accessories, I can't use the mixer, which cost $650. This delay is unacceptable and unprofessional. Can I trust KitchenAid to deliver on their promise? I urge them to expedite the replacement and improve their warranty service to be more responsive to customer needs.
Beware the hype - they are not that good – I have had this mixer for almost 5 years. It has broken down twice. I make bread with it 3 to 4 times a week. First it was making really bad noises and was fixed about 2 years ago. Right now it is not working at all. One day it was fine the next day you could tell something was wrong with gears and then it stopped working all together. I rang… Read more
Kitchen Aid and their response was that I use it too hard. That I shouldn't be using it for more than 6 to 8 minutes at a time. Seriously. Try making sourdough bread in that time frame. They said that after 8 minutes you should let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. I kid you not. OMG how long would it take to make bread then. For most things you do with it you are going to be using it for longer than that. I think if the motor is that sensitive to overheating they need to work out how to stop it from happening. If there had been more people writing reviews after using it for so long I don't think I would have bought one.
Don't waste your money on one of these if you are a serious baker.
Poor warranty policy! – I have had my mixer for just over a year and over that time have probably used it 10 times. It is not working (does not spin). I just rang and was told that it is not covered by warranty. Why are you selling default items as refurbished? When I pay $600 for a mixer I would expect it to last more than I year when it is rarely used. I bought a… Read more
kitchen aid as I thought it was a quality product (even refurbished) My previous mixer which was less than half the price lasted 15 years. I am very disappointed with your product and service and will not be recommending it or purchasing it again. If the warranty goes from 5 years to 1 year than the price should be much less!! Not good enough Kitchen aid.
Expensive boat anchor – As per customer with a 10 year mixer, I use it 3-4 times per year. Recently the dough hook seized up in mixing bread mixture. Kitchenaid blamed the low usage as the problem!! It leaks oil now as well. The bowl is stuck to the body. If the mixer is not fit for bread making, then don't promote it for that purpose as it overheats. I had waited a long… Read more

overheats and breaks on stiff mixtures – If all you do is whip cream, eggs or cake mix it is fine. But as soon as you try anything more challenging it can't cope. I managed to break the "worm screw" making nougat. I was told it was probably my fault for mixing something that stiff, but the recipe I used was one that came from KitchenAid themselves !!! Arrived broken – After years of wanting a kitchen aid mixer I finally purchased one. It arrived after 2 weeks, and I pulled it out of the box and turned it on. but say "well what's wrong with it". I told her and she said she will send me a australia post sticker. I asked why I have been waiting 90minutes in a supposed "your are 5th in the queue " for a 2 second phone call. She told me there was only 2 of them working that day. This is a business worth millions and they employ 2 staff members, one which needs education on customer service. Then I waited all day for an email that never came and had to call again and waste another 40minutes of my time on hold. I have now returned it and am waiting for a new one to arrive. Hopefully that's the only bad experience I have but this has left a very sour taste in my mouth. They don't respond to the online emails either, or instagram private messages. Worst customer service
Excellent Tabletop Mixer – Absolutely love it! 10 speeds, multifunctional and very reliable. I am a chef and I always struggled finding home appliances capable of being also considered professional. It easily suits restaurants and cafe’s demands.

Expensive but worth it – I have a limited edition pink KitchenAid mixer. Fantastic mixer, whilst expensive they are worth the money as they last years. Never had any issues with ours, easy to wash and keep clean, attachments and bowl can go in the dishwasher. Bowl is a good size for making small and large products and deep enough not to splatter when on high speed.

June, it decided it didn't want to work anymore. The machine was less than a year old. You could hear the motor making noise but nothing no movement. request and we will get back to you. Yeh right. Ended up going through kitchen aid Facebook page to get marketing email. Two days later they respond and send me return details and off to post office I go - they refuse to accept return as it does not have correct return information to lodge in their system. Emailed marketing again -they did not have my details of my purchase in the new system and could not access past orders. I gave them this and they rang me. Very lovely people on phone and very helpful. Apparently l was given the wrong return authority the first time but parcel was successfully sent (visit 2 to PO). This is a 13 kg box and being disabled it is not easy for me to carry it. So I thought yay easy smooth sailing now. WRONG. l have heard nothing since sending the parcel back to them. So on 22 September l check tracking info and the package was delivered 14 September. Still no word from KitchenAid. So I finally get onto customer service. A 30 minute wait later l get told we can see you have made 2 return claims on this item and those cases have been closed. We need proof you have returned item. So I give them the return tracking number. We will go and look in our warehouse for it now. Well it is now 1 October and still no word or refund. This is beyond a joke. Why am I having to run around and chase this up. Where is my refund? Annoyed, frustrated and unimpressed with customer service received so far. UPDATE 16 October - 2 weeks ago I made a payment dispute claim with Afterpay. They investigated and gave Kitchen Aid 2 weeks to respond. No word was received from Kitchen Aid to the claim. Today the claim was closed and I am receiving a full refund. I have to wait another 2 weeks to be reimbursed. Message to Kitchen Aid your customer service SUCKS. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

“quality checked”, again extra black tint in colour on top. As my birthday was nearing, my husband of 25 years said that I should order it as my birthday present. First 2 returns no problem and wonderful service. On 3rd occasion, Kitchenaid customer service and manager advised I was wrong about colour (I offered to send photos repeatedly and advised not needed), treated as though I enjoyed leaving work early to go back and forth to post office and making repeated calls to Kitchenaid. Would like nothing more than to have a Mineral Water Kitchenaid Stand Mixer delivered to me without damage and uniform colour. I have been advised that they will not replace Mineral Water again if next one not suitable. Spoilt my birthday and still no present 1 month later.

away leaving me without a mixer for probably a month or more. They have sent the below guidelines but these things used to get thrashed at all the cafe's I have worked at years ago hence I brought one. Not impressed for the cost of this.
Please refer to the following guidelines to ensure the longevity of your KitchenAid Stand Mixer: -Do not exceed speed 2 when mixing heavy ingredients such as dough or fruit cakes -Do not exceed a total weight of ingredient which is 1.15kg - including any water etc -5-6 minutes run-time for heavy mixtures (allow a 20 min rest period) -When mixing normal ingredients 8 minutes is the processing time (again 20 min rest period) -Always tighten the thumb screw (black screw near the attachment hub) after use & during use if required (this will stop the badge falling out)
Mutton dressed as Lamb – This mixer replaced a Kenwood. It worked for 10 years, cost half the price and had a bigger bowl. shenanigans and it broke again first use on setting 4. The great thing is I got it on video because it was making a terrible sound on setting 1. The repairer told me this happens a lot. There is a sacrificial plastic gear that breaks to prevent damage to the motor. He said you should mix you dough a little at a time and let the mixer cool after them minutes of use to stop it breaking. Funny they don't put that in the instruction manual. Anyway, it only lasted 5 minutes this time. Interestingly, the repairer had about 10 kitchenmaid stand mixers behind the counter all waiting for repair. Sounds like a QA or engineering problem. I've asked for a replacement or a refund, but that doesn't take into account all the time I've wasted trying to fix this problem and driving all over the city to pick-up and drop-off this precious little mixer.
Fantastic machine, lousy quality control, poor attachments, and non-existent after sale service – Was given this as a gift. Thanks, fam! So far, so good. I am very happy with it. The only major issue I had was not long after I started using it, a long bolt fell out of it!? Apparently it was a bolt that fixed the housing to the base or something. I tried to put it back, and of course it needed some obscure driver to screw it back in. A Robinson… Read more
or Robertson head driver I think? Anyway, it’s a very popular driver in Canada, so I’ve learned. I had to buy one of these drivers to put the bloody screw back. But now I have one of these special screwdrivers, which only fit these three or four bolts/screws on the machine. Which haven’t even come loose again now I’ve tightened them up. And did I mention the non-existent help and advice from KA australia? So, big thanks to the YouTube channels and online forums I consulted so I could sort the issue out. So, that’s why 1 star off the rating. Other than that little issue, it’s never missed a beat. Use it almost every day to knead bread. Use it to make pasta a few times a week. Use it for ice cream, biscuits, mincing small amounts of meat…. So I can honestly say it’s had an absolute hiding since I’ve got it. The second star off the rating is for the lousy white coating on the attachments that came with it, which has started to chip off despite hand washing. KA, they are rubbish. The flexi beater edge is chipped! The dough hook is chipped. This is a machine you market to be used frequently, and anyone with half a brain could tell you the attachments are going to get dropped on the bench or floor, banged together, hit on the side of the bowl… all those things which lead to chipping and flaking. You know, normal use! It’s obvious you’re trading on your name, and including cheap, shoddy attachments to maximise profits. My big old professional KA has stainless steel attachments which still look great and function perfectly. I’ve had to buy replacement attachments. Now, if I were a conspiracy theorist I’d suspect that was your intention all along, KA! These machines cost a lot of money, we shouldn’t have to spend half as much again replacing your lousy attachments. Still, I love this machine, and it gets used every day. However I don’t love the poor quality beater attachments that came with it, and I don’t love the non-existent help from KA australia. Hence only 3/5 stars for what is really a 5/5 star product let down by cost cutting, poor product control, and lousy service.
