Great buy - fridge is 15 yrs old and still great – Bought this fridge in Black, brand new in 2009. It's now 2024 and it’s still excellent. Maybe I was a lucky one, as I saw bad reviews, but my fridge is now 15 years old and still have had no problems! Show details
Design fault defrost heater – Always blown defrost heater with this model..so freezer freezes over fan to send cold air to fridge freezes over so fridge section stops cooling.. simple fix otherwise it's a good fridge .. great size not too wide
11 years no problems – Yes I agree the seals don’t last as long as they should but I clean them regularly and never replaced, yes the Clips at top to catch door no great but never replaced , one broke off but never effected the fridge . Got a bargain in 2009 for $1599 but expensive to replace now as it died on a Sunday 2022 . Show details
The frig workd perfectly but when you close the left hand door the right hand door opens a bit and i – There has not been a single performance fault with the machine all of the other functions are excellent . It is easy to clean and always looks smart. It is not noisy at all, in fact you don't know it is going it is so quite. It is one of the best refrigerators we have had in 53 years of marriage. Thank you LG for the product. Can you tell me how to fix the problem door? Show details
Worst!, Dont touch it, – We bought this LG GM-B208BVS in Dec 2010 with 3 years extra years of warranty. It was working ok, all of a sudden it stopped working after 6 years one month. Called a technician he said it will cost me more than $500 to fix it, he will give only 3 months warranty. decided not to repair. I will never buy any LG product, Show details
Do not touch – Known for being a poorly built and designed fridge. Always freezes up making the fridge not work. Fortnightly event of turning the fridge off, defrost and then turn back on. Something you should not have to do! Lg made updates to more recent models. Plenty of far better models around. Show details
Worst! – Bought it $1700 at Bing Lee in 2009. Stopped working just after 2 years warranty. Called LG service center, they told me I need to pay it by myself. Speed 200 dollar to fix and then worked for another 0.5 year only. We threw more than 500 dollar food because of this machine.
Has had problems with the element on the door since it was delivered and installed – This fridge is OK, except the element on the door drips water and has been for months. It was changed a couple of times under warranty yet it still does it. Have called LG customer service - what a joke - no customer service there - you get someone in the Philipines that can't speak proper english and no one calls you back to help you. LG need… Read more
to improve their lack of service and I would appreciate it if we could speak to someone in Australia/
Bad Design & Horrible Support – We bought this fridge after a lot of research around for this style. Paid over $2200.00 for it in 2009 AND bought the extended 5 year warranty. The fridge went ok for the first few years, but then the problems started and the door seals started to fail and the door latches broke. It took over 5 months from when we contacted the extended… Read more
repair agent to when it was finally fixed. Then only 6 months later the parts broke again and we were told that the LG parts only have a 3 month warranty and to contact LG direct. We did, and they said that the extended warranty company are NOT authorised LG repair agents and therefore the parts have NO warranty!
So now we have a fridge that the doors won't stay closed and no-one wants to know about it. We got quoted $621 to have a door latch replaced, and now both sides have broken. We won't buy any LG products any more now because they just don't seem to care about the end user.
Fridge stops cooling – Every few months my fridge resets the cooling and resets the cooling thermo . Essentially I wake up to spoilt milk. Bad design means you can't close both doors at the same time. Good fridge - i have owned one for 4 years but now I would much rather get a FP or Electrolux. Almost everything Doors, cooling

Fantastic looking and functional refrigeratore perfect for the entertainer – We purchased this fridge in black to match our new kitchen in April 2010 with an extended warranty. The french doors are exceptionally handy for the entertainer - huge shelf room for platters. The glass shelves are easy to keep clean and the freezer's pull-out drawer is deep. I love the ice-box that you can empty your ice-trays into as well as… Read more
the adjustable door shelving that is very adaptable. We had an issue 1 month ago with the door rubbers coming loose, as this was in manufacturer's warranty they were called out within 2 days and replaced them immediately, whilst also giving us device on avoiding the problem in the future. Very hassle-free and very happy with the purchase and the follow-up. Looks great, works well and so adaptable!

Find out how LG GM-B208STS / GM-B208BVS compares to other French Door Fridges / Refrigerators
Know better, choose better.
Great, slim line french door for those that don't have a big kitchen but still want the three doors – Great depth, large freezer drawer. Only problem is that the fridge door don't easily close therefore you have to ensure you push the doors solidly. Only owned it a short while but it's great so far. Slim but deep, great for platters. Frige doors need to be consciously pushed shut
$2,200 Fridge - Looks great but seals failed after a year, poor service, long repair lead time – We purchased this refrigerator September '10 and had the seals on the French doors fail after 12 or 13 months. They sent out an LG Repairman and he astonishingly glued the seals as his repair. It seemed pretty strange but I thought that they may have a magic substance that was robust so didn't make a fuss but was wondering whether their efforts… Read more
were really to try to get the fridge limping through the warranty period. Inevitably, the seals failed again and inevitably you lose most of the contents with each failure and that is expensive. This second failure happened in Feb and we had a service person attend in early March. He confirmed that the first repair was never going to work and that the seals needed to be replaced. 5 weeks after the service visit (6 or more after the failure) they are still telling us (when we chase them down with the exception of one call from them) that the seals won't be far away. (The company has now updated us with a mid May ETA on the parts - 11 weeks from failure and by the time it is installed it will probably be 13 weeks - one quarter of a year, hmmm - how would you feel about having a fridge that works properly 75% of the year!!)
I have had problems with seals on other fridges (about ten years from purchase) and they have progressively deteriorated, but without causing urgent problems. With French Doors the seals close onto each other and tears have occurred which cause air leakage to varying degrees, but are occasionally causing the doors to sit maybe 5mm off closing - with unhappy consequences.
The fridge must have a design fault to have the seals go after a year and then when they do need replacing, the concept that it takes over 5 weeks to have them in stock (from the service visit) in order to make an appointment to install them which presumably could be more than two further weeks away, seems unreasonable. I really think that if I am going to buy an expensive fridge that a basic part like this should be available and installed ideally within three days but at worst within a week. That timeframe seems reasonable for a critical part of a critical appliance.
At the same time the freezer has failed a few times - once directly related to the selas but another not seemingly related. We are now pretty diligent in checking the fridge doors before we go to bed at night but we have had a number of occasions where the kids think the doors are closed but they are not because the broken seal gets caught up and holds the door open a fraction.
I would be concerned about buying a French Door fridge from LG and I would be concerned about buying any fridge from LG while they think it is OK to take such a long period to replace the seals and I would also be very hesitant about any manufacturer who has a company service representative who carries glue to fix fridge seals. Their support is very weak based on my experience.
My only struggle is whether the fridge has serious design faults or whether I simply got a bad one off the production line. Irrespective, the company attitude to service causes me to not want to have one of their products. It has cost me a lot extra in food loss and if I could give it back to LG tomorrow I would cut my losses and go elsewhere. Beaut design from an aesthetics perspective, also some nice interior features Service is appalling and I think the failures indicate design flaws. Like a Ferrari with no engine - looks good but just doesn't function properly
The best fridge I have ever purchased – I allows you to know if it isn't closed properly. The freezer drawer is magical with the instant freeze/chill button when you need a bottle of wine or beer chilled quickly. I love the double french doors. The brushed stainless steel front looks very sleek and no-one can put messy advertising fridge magnets at the front, they all go down the… Read more · 1
side. Love it. I fits perfectly into the very awkward space my kitchen builder left me as he built around a very old odd sized Americana Fridge. Loved it too, it just gave up the ghost. Looked great and filled the space perfectly and the freezer is fantastic. Not enought side shelves supplied. I wonder are you able to purchase extras?
