Meile Dryer – We had difficulty with this dryer from the start. Constant beeping with the “clean air filter” and service calls to Miele when under warranty. I see this model is now discontinued. Today I finally decoupled it from the washer and its going to the dump. We purchased both the honeycomb washer and dryer together. My wife was recommended these due to Miele brand. Show details
Worst dryer I've ever owned, persevered for 5+ years now and accepted that my clothes will always be a bit damp at the end so I have been putting it on at nighttime because when it finishes at least it sits all night in the warmth to dry a little more. Total rubbish and waste of money Show details
Miele dryer model T8823c – I have had my Miele clothes dryer model T8823c for 8 years. From day one it has been a complete lemon. Beeping every 10 minutes to “clean air filter”. Taking a ridiculous amount of time stopping and starting. Have had a Miele serviceman out still doesn’t work how it should. I purchased both the honeycomb washer and dryer together. I always wanted… Read more

Great machine when it's working. Don't pay miele for a service call out read this first – As with almost all owners of this machine we've had on going "clean out air ways" issue on our Miele T8823c for some time, often resulting in only being able to dry 1 load of washing per day. Today I decided to attack the machine and thoroughly clean out the airways. I started off by removing the door and front metal panel. I disconnected,… Read more
removed and cleaned the front temp sensor directly under the front door (images attached). There were huge masses of fine lint caked around the sensor and on all walls of the front air duct manifold. I then unscrewed, removed and thoroughly cleaned out the manifold, again full of lint. With the manifold out you can wash it out thoroughly. Once the air duct manifold is removed it's also possible to clean the main impeller fan, again caked in lint and dried soap (NOTE: there is no way to access and clean these areas of the machine without tearing it down).
Then at the rear of the machine I removed the central diamond shaped metal cover panel and cleaned out more lint, removed the heater assembly (the metal box with wires running into it) and carefully cleaned out any lint around the heating elements and temperature sensor probe on the outlet side of the heater box.
After reassembly I've been able to dry several loads one after the other, something I've not been able to do in years...
The main culprit for the error is lint caking onto the front temperature sensor, this sensor is in the centre under the two lint filters (as shown in the attached images). Lint caked onto the sensor insulates the front temp sensor and during use a temperature differential outside of safe operating conditions occurs between the sensor at the front and rear of the machine. This difference in temperature trips the unit to cool down as it believes it is over heating and at risk of a fire occurring.
I hope this helps other long suffering owners of this machine.
Cheers Ted

simple answer – we have a miele dryer approx. 10 years old and some time ago started beeping after a few minutes and saying clean out airways in the process of looking for a replacement I came across all these reviews with the same problem and in amongst them was a little gem which made perfect sense to me soak the filters to get rid if soap scum which builds up… Read more · 1
on the filters naked to the eye I put 4 inches of hot water in the sink lay the curved filters on their side and the big one flat left for a few hours allowed to dry overnight next day dryer works perfectly and still going strong we will now soak the filters every month
Clean the airways properly – I had a few issues very similar to others in here in regards to the airways needing cleaning but it’s not just a matter of cleaning the lint out. I spoke to a Miele agent and they advised to soak the filters in hot water as they become blocked up with residue from the washing powder. I did this and it has been perfect ever since. I will be doing… Read more
that once a month from now on. It’s just a shame that they tell you to call a technician to look at it rather than give you simple advice.
Perfect ! – We have had our dryer now for about 5 years and have had no trouble whatsoever. We always use the 'delicate' setting to avoid shrinking the clothes (we do this with all dryers). It was an expensive dryer at the time however it has been money well spent. The clothes come out perfectly dry each time and the tumble speed is delicate enough so the clothes remain untangled. This was one of our best buys ever !! Show details

Pathetic – Mostly have Meile products, categorically will never purchase another product and will go out of my way to discredit this brand. This washer/dryer combo is substantially inferior to even the most basic product on the marketplace. Done everything humanly possible to no avail, this brand is going under. Show details
Glad to be not alone in my disappointment! – Looking for another dyer as finally defeated by the fatal flaw of not drying. Can only do multiple bursts of 15 minute timed drying.Had service personnel out countless times.Guess I won’t be looking at a replacement Miele !

Terrible machine. Zero stars! – I would give zero stars if that was an option. Same issue as everyone else. I bought a dryer to make my life easier, not to add another step to my house jobs every 5-10mins. I cannot believe Miele with the reputation it’s got had not recalled this product. By the sound of everyone else’s comments you have lost a number of customers due to a faulty… Read more
product. Getting a technician does not resolve the problem, cleaning the airways does not resolve the problem.

It doesn’t work – We have exactly the same issue as everyone else. It tell me to clean the filters and after 5 minutes it stops again. What a shame Miele don’t recall this model and ensure these customers (including myself) have faith to buy Miele again. It works only at 20 min cold program.Until now I thought that only me had this problem but know I am very disappointed.Don t buy this, is waste of money
I fickin hate it – The dryer won’t dry clothes. It is temperamental. Some days it does and others it won’t for all the reasons other buyers have cited. Show details

This is a deeply flawed machine – My story with this Miele dryer (T8823C )is exactly the same as everyone else .We kept on persevering for a number of years and had any no of service calls until, eventually we were told that this cannot be repaired without spending almost $1000 including a new heat pump etc.We KNOW for sure that this machine is a dud and has caused endless… Read more
problems for many others.Miele were polite to me and offered a good discount on a new one ,but I felt should have been higher in the light of the obvious flaw. It was suggested we DONT repair it (that says everything !!) but does one want to risk a so called premium product purchase again. With a 2 yr warrantee this only became obvious after that point. I think Miele should have morally accepted it's a technically flawed product and offered a much better deal to get a new one thereby retaining Miele customers.

A Total Dud – To dry a load of washing usually requires 3 or 4 resets. The drier tells me to clean out the air filters, which I do, after about 15 to 20m minutes. At this stage I try running it on a timed cycle another 2 or 3 times by which the clothes are adequately dried. I want a dryer that dries the first time. Show details
Worst Miele product we’ve ever purchased !!!!! – Avoid this product ! The dryer does not dry clothes. The dryer alarm sounds within minutes to ‘clean out airways’ with EVERY use. The most frustrating clothes dryer to use. We are extremely disappointed. An absolute waste of money !

Absolute lemon – We have been persevering with this dryer for approximately 10 years now as it's too expensive to throw away. Same problem as everyone else seems to have with constant beeping telling us to clean the airways. Early on we spoke with our local technician who stated that he couldn't fix it. Doesn't seem to matter anymore what setting we use, even with… Read more
delay start, it won't run longer than a few minutes. We've had lots of Miele appliances over the years and loved them, but this dryer has been an absolute lemon.
Does not dry clothes and stops working by itself – As with all other comments left by others, this is a terrible machine! It just shuts itself down after 5 minutes even when you put it a "Extra Dry" setting. This is a clearly a design defect given that everyone is complaining of exactly the same thing. My clothes are damp and stink even after continually cleaning the "air filters" by opening up… Read more
and washing with water as recommended. We paid over $1800 for this machine and it was so not worth the money when we could have bought another European appliance that would have been more reliable and less expensive. So much for "Made in Germany" quality!
A Waste of Money – We have been persevering with this dryer since 2014. Same persistent problem as others; beeping after 5 mins and left with wet clothes. This seems to have become worse with time, but it was never possible to dry more than one load on any given day. The design is flawed as the lint filters are not effective, so lint builds up inside the machine. … Read more
Have dismantled the front and cleaned as much as possible in the past, and this improved the situation for a few days. This was a time consuming and awkward task, and it shouldn’t be up to the end user to do so much to compensate for design flaws. Never buying a Miele product again. The man who delivered this dryer in 2014 told me that Miele presents itself in this country as a premium brand but is way over-rated. I didn’t believe him then. I do now.

A Lemon – I have the same problem as everyone else with this dryer, basically it does not work. You get continual error messages saying that the filters are blocked, even when you have just cleaned them all out. It does not dry the clothes. Miele does not seem to be interested in the problem. I have other Miele products that I am very happy with but will not use their dryers again. Unfortunately I can not give no star and must give 1.

Awful problems for years – We purchased this dryer in 2014 along with a household full of other Miele appliances (all of which we love) This has been nothing but trouble. Discontinued and Disgusted at Meile for not recalling – We have exactly the same issue as everyone else. What a shame Miele don’t recall this model and ensure these customers (including myself) have faith to buy Miele again. We have spend hundreds on the technician coming out, to no avail. Our family have always bought and trusted Miele. Time to find another brand.

Honestly the WORST modal of dryer ever!!! – Like everyone else I have had the same issue with the clean filter fault. I've had it serviced by a Miele approved technician 6 times and spent hundreds of dollars on it and they can't find anything wrong with it. It now basically doesn't work at all. Goes for 5 mins and then beeps and stops. So disappointed. My mum and sister have the same dryer… Read more
but an older modal and have not had a single issue with it. I have noted that they both have an additional fine foam filter in the door which I'm wondering if that is the difference?! Terribly disappointed in Miele service also... they don't even want to know about it because it's passed it's warranty. Get told everytime I call them that I need to contact the local technician. Terrible for what is supposed to be a good brand. Extremely disappointed and now struggling everyday trying to do my laundry. I can't afford to replace it now and I thought I was investing in something good when I first purchased it. Also would very much like to know why this product has only been discontinued and not recalled???
Worst Dryer Ever !!! – Like all the reviews previously, the machine constantly asks me to clean filters, which are always free from lint. The issue is worse when trying to dry sheets. It works for approximately 5 minutes then starts beeping to be cleaned. I had a technician come and take a look and was told the machine was fine. Given the amount you pay for Miele and… Read more

"clean out airways" issue - but I find that the machine continues to fail to finish any full cycle. I live in rural NSW so there is no option for getting a technician to "pop around" to fix the problem. My question to Miele is why, after so many negative experiences with this machine, have they not offered to recall, replace or reimburse customers for a product that is not fit for purpose? It seems that since this model has been discontinued, Miele themselves must feel that there is an issue with design. Leanne H
Clean Airways frustration – machine only works for 5mins before saying clean airways.... I always clean the airways and remove the condenser to dry, still says clean airways, probably 4 - 5 times before it eventually stops. I use it mainly to dry towels which I semi-dry on the line first, so only expect this to go for 20 odd minutes, but it is taking longer because of the red flashing light and beeps.. Have had the dryer for a few years now, but still not expecting this..

What a disappointment – I have the same problem as everyone else, the machine runs for a few minutes and stops. It asked me to clean the airways and believe me I have. If this machine can’t be fixed, for what appears to be a manufacturer’s fault, I will take it to the dump and buy a new Bosch.

The worst whitegoods purchase I have ever made – Just like everyone else dryer beeped from day one. Why should I be paying for a manufacturing fault?
