Great cooker – We love this cooker. It's huge and fast. Easy to use and enough for our large family Show details
The mighty oven! – I have this oven for about 10 years now. I haven’t had any issues up until now where the door doesn’t close or seal properly. I believe the model is obsolete, can anyone please tells us where to buy these hinges. Thanks Dennis Show details · 4
It's OK – Agree with the seal in other reviews. Mine is loose and door doesn't close properly. I don't like how the gas comes on even if you just bump the knob its too easy for my liking. But the biggest problem we had was cleaning the stainless steel part around the knobs and the temperatures and symbols all came off. This happened after just a few… Read more
cleans. Overall the builder put this in when we built our house 10 years ago and it's still going with only one call when the element went last year.
one shelf – Only one shelf for such a big oven, hoping the reviews are wrong about this oven,Harvey Norman is trying to convince me that it's a good product, too late we bought it before reading the reviews. Show details
Oven useless, stovetop OK – Oven doesn't cook evenly and is hard to clean. Best thing about the oven is the size. Had to replace door seal, door hinges and heating elements for fan cooking, all within four years. Find the cooktop quite good though. Enough heat in wok burner and other gas units. Would not recommend this appliance and looking at replacing after spending too much replacing parts which luckily I have been able to do myself or would of cost us even more. Show details
Nearly new and door won't close – It's big. But that's about all it has going for it. The door doesn't close properly, so we purchased new hinges ($110) and this made sweet FA difference. Don't recommend at all. Can't cook in the oven, what a useless POS. Door only stays closed if I lean against it (hardly practical), or tie it up with something (also totally impractical).
Faulty oven and cannot get repaired – No wonder this is discontinured. The food is always burned despite lower temperatures and times recommended. The seals fell off the oven and now the entire electrical system has stopped working as a result. Requests to customer care for contact are continually ignored. Complaints lodged with ACCC and Fait Trading
Worst oven I have ever had – Burns food before cooking them through. I always cook at a much lower temperature than required and for a shorter time than necessary otherwise food is thrown out. The heat comes out through the top of the door. The door doesn't close properly so I have to tie it up with a strap to close it. Wouldn't recommend it at all.
Gas goes out during cooking in oven – Not happy Jan! Have had oven for 12 months occasionally oven flame goes out for no reason. Have to repeatedly re light oven up to 4 times during cooking. Flames not adequate on cooktop too low apart from wok burner. Grill element is un removable so when it is cleaned with oven cleaner it smokes the house out! Stainless steel seems thin as it scratches very easily. Large Wok and oven door does close ok. Flame goes out in oven occationally
HI our builders put this oven in it is so cheap - within 7 months the clock went funny after that… Read more
OK – For the most part, I like the appliance. It is a good size and does a good job on pizzas. If doing roasts or casseroles, though, I keep them covered for most of the cooking time with foil (make sure it's on firmly, or it'll get sucked on to a fan's surface grate). If I don't cover things with foil, they can get too brown or dry out. For example, a… Read more
baked custard I made recently finished up with a top that was nearly burnt, even though I lowered the cooking temp to compensate for the fan assisted "Baker's Function". At times like those, I miss my plain old gas oven with no fan. I wish I could use the bottom heat with NO fan, for baking delicate items.
The thing I can't stand about this appliance is that the heat is vented out through the front. The hot air comes out on both sides of the top of the door. That makes cooking while you have something in the oven unpleasant, if not downright miserable in the warmer months. Even though I'll have the extractor hood going on high speed, I still get baked by this oven. Obviously, that's not a big problem in winter.
Would I buy one again? Maybe. It's better than many of the pretty junkboxes out there masquerading as big fancy cookers - many for twice the price. Still, I wonder what the SMEG would've been like, as "Omega" is SMEG's "budget range". SMEG was one of my contenders, before I ended up with the Omega. I asked many an appliance salesperson what the physical differences were between SMEG's and Omega's 90cm dual-fuel cookers, and all they could come up with was that "they both come out of the same factory" and that "the SMEG has much nicer knobs" than the Omega's cheap-looking plastic ones. Surely SMEG is not asking an extra $1500 or so for knobs, and a bit of extra stainless steel on the door?! I can't help but wonder what I missed by not getting the SMEG, and wish there was someone out there selling them, who had a clue... Sadly, that is not the case.
In the end, the Omega not perfect, but is better than a lot of others in its price range. It looks good, easy-to-clean top with no crime-collecting seams, large oven interior Twin fan dries out food, browns things too quickly. "Baker's function" also uses fan, and also tends to over-brown some things.
UPDATE - the bottom-heat-with-fan setting, "Bakers Function" - for baking cakes and such - stopped… Read more
2 Fans Dries out everything – I use this oven at work and it's horrible. The multifunction oven is supposed to be a good idea but it dries everything. I can't cook anything properly in it. I have used many other brands before and have found them to be able to cook great. What the salespeople also don't tell you is that there are two elements and if one goes you need to replace… Read more
both which costs you twice as much. I have to cook without a fan if I don't want a dry lunch. Looks ok 2 Fans Dries out everything
