Love it! Had it for 15 years - still working perfectly! – Got this grinder through a Myer gift registry in 2004 and it's fantastic! I've read other reviews where their machines failed after one or two uses and I was really surprised. Mine has been faultless for 15 years! You need to give the button a good press to set it going on it's timer otherwise it will just do a quick pulse, which can be handy. I… Read more ·  1

tend to shake it a couple of times while it's grinding just to make the grind super even. I hold the grinder side on to wind the cord in or pull it out, making it super easy. I tap the machine upside down on the bench to tip the ground coffee into the lid before removing the machine. To clean it I either use a dry pastry brush or a very slightly damp kitchen cloth to wipe it out.

Good grind and features – Liked: auto grind - no need to hold the button down to keep it working - good if you're doing a few batches, handy cup lid - just invert then remove to tip out your grinds, unlike many other models fine grounds do not clog up under the blade (a big problem with the cheaper models from K-mart that also overheated the grounds), conveient cord… Read more ·  1

storage. Worked well for grinding whole linseed to meal.

Disliked: became a bit unreliable - had to jiggle the cord to make it work sometimes (possibly because the cord had been pulled too hard). After several years it stopped working - replaced with the newer model which has a different cord rewind set up so will hopefully be more reliable.

Stopped after 1st use – Bought this as a fift for my father. He used it once...no auto stop. He thoughtthought it was normal. Tried a couple more times...as soon as it is plugged in, it is already running. Now out of warranty....waste of time, money and effort. We trust sunbeam products...seem to be dropping the ball on quality

Broke after 3 uses – I bought this grinder to grind spices. Similar to the other reviews on this site, this grinder broke on the third use. Now it won't even start. This grinder is a complete waste of time and money. Please don't make the same mistake; buy a different brand. I can't believe how awful this product is.

Very disappointed in this product – Only used this product about 6 times. What a complete waste of money! Not sure it is worth getting checked out after reading these other reviews. Obviously sunbeam dont vigourously test their products enough before putting them on the market. Will definitely be searching for a better brand next time

Could not use it even once!!!! – I don't normally review products, but I felt I had to warn consumers about this one. I got a Sunbeam grinder as a gift last year. Used it 4 times and then stopped. I thought it was an electricity issue that stopped it from working. Little I knew that I was dealing with one of the worst products I'd acquired in a long time. Then, yesterday I bought… Read more

a new one not knowing I would have the same problem. I could not use it once, literally. Turns out this grinder is a piece of rubbish!!! On top of that I got rid of the receipt so I guess no exchange or reimburse of money for me. The only positive: I learnt my lesson.never, ever buy a product from Sunbeam. Hope this helps.

Electric Shock from product - Faulty – I just received a substantial electric shock from this product. My husband tested it with a Easy Volt tester and detected an open circuit between the outer casing and the neutral pin. This means it's not fit for purpose and is very unsafe. I'm really ticked off with Sunbeam for putting such a dodgey product on the market. I also don't like the… Read more

lock top which I frequently fiddle with to get right (poor design and quality). I am under instruction from hubby to "bin-it" for my own safety, not happy with this product at all. Money wasted

Very poor Quality – I agree with other comments. It has poor quality. I bought it 14 months ago and its grind button died just 2 mouths after warranty. Definitely I will not be using another Sunbeam product any more. Don't waste your time and money. I paid $35 for this. It is very disappointed.

WHAT THE...? – I just bought this coffee grinder today, took it out of the box, plugged it in, pressed the button, and nothing happened! I thought surely the absence of coffee beans in the receptacle of the appliance should not affect its operation, so I just tried it out and nothing happened. Please tell me, Sunbeam, that I needed to put coffee beans in the… Read more

Very Poor ...and only after a few uses – Agree with the other reviews. A very poor product. Didn't even get around to using the retractable cord because it died after within a week of using it. Brought it about 16 months ago and never used it until a this week. After using it four/five times to grind coffee the motor started making funny noises and died. I'd love to hear from you… Read more

Sunbeam but am not holding my breath as I think it is pointless contacting Sunbeam because all they will do it tell me it is out of warranty.

Don't waste your time or money! – This was given as a gift, so like many people here we had trouble attempting to return or repair our grinder. As with most people here, the cord was damaged by the retractable device on the bottom and after 3-4 months of light sporadic use the motor has died for no reason! So yes sunbeam, you have a consistent product, it just breaks consistently.… Read more

Will I get the same generic response that you lot 'care about customer satisfaction'? This clearly isn't a one off problem, pull your socks up sunbeam!

Retractable Cord Failure X2 – First unit was returned due to faulty retractable called. Just arrived back from the store with the exchanged unit and same problem. It's actually worse than the first time around, and i hand't even used it yet. Called 'Customer Service' spoke to Aaron who basically said it was up to the store to exchange it. Didn't apologise or provide any… Read more

I was happy to try my luck for a third time until i spoke to their Customer Service team. Poor service and left me with a bad customer experience.

I have no intention to give my money to Sunbeam again.

Worst Grinder Ever – Purchased this from a large retail store. Used it less than 10 times, went to grind some coffee and the appliance will not even turn on... Definitely will not be using another sunbeam product. Steer clear of this cheap, bad excuse for a coffee-grinder. Enjoy my $35 sunbeam, you got me. it broke after 5-10 uses

Stay away – Ive had the grinder for just under 7 months and motor died. I have only been through 1 small bag of beans in that time. I don't have proof of purchase so I'm stuck with a $50 piece if junk that doesn't work! I doubt I will purchase any sunbeam products again. Motor died after 7 months (not being used a lot). The grind button would get stuck stuck every time I used it.

Works a Treat! – I've had many coffee grinders in my time, and this is by far my favourite! It was by no means the most expensive that I could find, but I did like the look of it (which is always very important!) You can choose different levels of grinding, fine, medium, coarse, etc, but I always just stick with the one in the middle as that suits my dripolator… Read more ·  1

and espresso machine. It is very easy to use, it does a good job of grinding, and I particularly like the way the cord winds up into the bottom. I also like the fact that it comes with the little container - just the right size for an emergency stash of beans, and the brush for cleaning. I've had it quite a while now and could not be happier. Easy to use; Good grinding; cord retracts into base; comes with cleaning brush; different grind levels.

Don't buy this piece of junk – The retractable cord shredded the cable first time i used it thats pretty scary but now it has ceased to function as last time i used it it just made a horrible noise and the blades didnt spin and it started to smell like burning plastic. Ive lost my reciept and warranty but will still be calling the hotline tomorrow and taking it back to the store. Build quality

This product is no good. Don't buy it! – It's the devil's own job to engage the lid In the correct spot to operate the motor, and you have to apply considerable pressure to keep the thing running. You NEED the coffee to counteract the stress incurred by using the silly thing! There is no ease in operation for this device. Too hard to use

does the job – I bought this for grinding spices and it does the job fine. I did find it a bit tricky to clean it thoroughly with stronger spices but I guess I can't really complain too much as it's meant for coffee. I have used it for grinding coffee and it did the job perfectly. Does what it says on the box. Retractable cord. Inexpensive. Could be easier to clean.

Cheap simple grinder – This came as a discounted special option with our coffee machine, we needed a grinder and that's what this does. It's a very simple unit and with a little bit of trial and error gives a relatively consistent grind. By reducing the amount of beans on each use and keeping the unit clean we've used it for the last 8 months without fault, however this… Read more

has only been roughly 2-3kgs of beans. For an ammeter home coffee maker this grinder is more than adequate, especially as part of a machine/grinder package. Easy use, easy clean, long power cord. takes practice to use, can only grind small amounts each time.

Poor performer - didn't last the distance – I honestly would not recommend this machine to anyone. I received it as gift and after only 6-7 uses the motor expired. I contacted Sunbean as the unit was only 14months old, but was told that it was out of warranty and was offered the contact details for a repairer. Disappointed by the response, I contacted the repairer - he told me to throw it… Read more

Caught fire after 2 months! – After a few weeks smelt burning plastic, touched it, felt burning hot, turned it off from the powerpoint. Now doesn't work and can clearly see the inside is melted as the slider no longer moves. Fantastic. obviously a serious problem and safety hazard. Don't buy it until they fix the problem. The inside caught on fire

OK – Great value if you're just starting out, but not necessarily a good "investment". I'd recommend spending the extra money to get a better grinder, or better yet, purchase the espresso machine with the "free grinder" deals they often have! Inexpensive introduction to the world of coffee grinding. Grind now consistent. Broke after a year or so.

Good – Does the job and that's the main thing. Ours is used every day and besides the few issues mentioned above we are happy with it. At the end of the day though, you do get what you pay for. Compact, good value - got ours on sale for less than $45, like the retractable cord. The button to change the type of grind you want is loose and we have nearly… Read more

lost ours a few times. Can be difficult to put the lid on at first and ours now has a crack in it because of this. Noisy. Can be difficult to get the coffee out of it and the little brush is basically useless.

OK – Does the job for a cheap grinder, if you turn the grinder upside down when finished the coffee doesn't spill at all. If you want something cheap which you use infrequently this is the one, if you use it at least once a week get something better. Compact, looks OK, easy to clean, retractable cord is great. Inconsistent grinding, the on button breaks easily. Mine didn't last very long.

Terrible – The on button is very finicky on my model, you have to press it for just the right amount of milliseconds to turn it on. The coffee beans are also ground very inconsistently, large bits of bean remain. Difficult to get the ground beans out with out spilling them on the bench top. However all blade grinders are like this. If you are after good… Read more

coffee, burr grinders are the only option. It is sold at a reasonable price. Retracable cord feature is good. I use mine now for grinding herbs and it does an OK job at this. very trickly to turn on, Inconsistent grind, hard to get the beans out.

Bad – We received this as a gift - I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. It has been useful on the rare occasion when we use unground beans - but we prefer to buy our beans pre-ground. The plastic storage container for excess ground coffee had a very strong plastic odour to it, which we felt would impart a yucky taste to the coffee, so it's… Read more

never been used. Grinds/chops coffee quickly. Has multiple settings depending on the portion size and fineness required. At about $50, it's a pretty affordable grinder. Very noisy. I always spill coffee grinds everywhere when trying to empty it - so it's a bit on the messy side. Not convinced that it gives a very consistent grind. Not easy to clean.
