Sunbeam Burr Grinder EM0430

It grinds the Coffee – This machine is acceptable for the lower end of the market. Given that it's Competing with blade grinders, it s a step up from them, However, it does have it's shortcomings. Also, ground coffee tends to get caught in the spout leading to the post-ground container, requiring regular cleaning, Which is awkward and somewhat annoying to do with the provided brush.
The hopper itself is quite decently sized, With the option of either the pre-grind doser, or a smaller cover for individual doses if you want to keep your beans in a separate container. The Doser seems to provide the right amount of beans for an individual shot, However, beans do get caught in it, and it's sometimes difficult to operate due to dust and particles ejecting from the grinding surface itself
Changing the grind size is simple, with the small notched wheel at the side, However, Given the limited number of settings, it is limited in the different style of grinds.
The grinding surface is nearly flat, Not nearly as cone-like as the higher end Sunbeam machines, and the ability of the grinder to produce fine coffee grounds is limited, The finest setting is just good enough for a low-end Espresso machine.
The auto-sensing part of the design is quite well thought out, it does grind until there is no coffee left to grind, However, Given that a lot of coffee flies back into the loading hopper, I've found that the button has to be pressed a number of times in order to get the full dose ground.
The grounds container is also an odd shape, While I appreciate the tight corners at each side to aid in pouring the ground coffee, There are a lot of little angles that make it hard to clean, Especially the bottom corners, which have quite an acute angle on all three sides. Static does tend to accumulate a lot with this machine, and I've found that I have had to bang the container on the counter top to dislodge grounds caught on the lid. if I don't do this, I've found that it gets messy
In short, If you want an inexpensive Grinder, I would recommend saving a bit longer and going for one of the Cafe series grinders, Especially if you are looking for an espresso grind. This unit is perfectly fine for Filtered, French Press or even Peculator coffee, but I would say it's not great for espresso. Especially if you have a quality machine This is a Reliable inexpensive machine, it does grind coffee, grinds it well, The pre-grind doser is a good idea, as is the auto-shutoff It's cheap, Coffee is not ground fine enough for espresso machines. it is messy, Grounds get caught on the spout. The Grounds container is fiddly and awkward to clean, as is the rest of the machine
