Unable to remove blades. Design fault – Terrible, terrible, terrible. Used this for the first time and after the 5th carve you noticed an electrical smell. So slow and steady was the order. Took a long time to carve a roast beef. Did not carve/slice as smooth as I envisaged from a sharp serrated double bladed knife. Then the blade removal button got stuck and could not remove… Read more

blades. After following people's advice on how to remove, I found the plastic lug holding a spring loaded component broken. Disappointing from a knife marketed as "Easycarve Pro" ... far from it. Now useless, unless sunbeam sell parts for me to replace. Clearly a deliberate design fault. Stay way from this product because of this. Pity it was a gift.

Sunbeam Carveasy Electric Knife EK6000 – Extremely hard to use with either set of blades, and that is with slicing bread only. Very hard on the hands and awkward to hold. My old one was a dream compared to this. Show details

After pulling mine apart I proved that it is a clear design fault – I have the same issue, and as I did not have a receipt (and Sunbeam is avoiding any clear answers here). I decided to pull mine apart and look for the fault, which I found immediately. The internal spring loaded white plastic blade release which is meant to work when you press the black blade release button, is very flimsy and falls out of it's… Read more

seat, thereby rendering the black button useless and making it impossible to remove the blades for cleaning. It's no wonder that Sunbeam has discontinued this product, but it would have made life so much easier for many people if Sunbeam had just replaced them without question given that they clearly knew that the problem is a clear design fault and nothing that anyone had done wrong.

Absolute CRAP!!! – My mother had one of the original Sunbeam electric knives which is still cutting gloriously even to this day, which is why I bought this model. From day one, it never cut cleanly...nowhere near as good as the one my Mum has. Hard to hold, hard to remove the blades....I’ve even sliced my finger trying to get the blades off to wash them. After about… Read more

6 uses, it was relegated to the back of the cupboard never to see the light of day again. Hey Sunbeam! The general idea of releasing a new model is to bring something BETTER to the market, not something that is worse. But, with this product, this is EXACTLY what you have done. What is says to me, is that you have clearly had these manufactured overseas at a much cheaper price, and instead of building your brand’s quality, you have buried it deep within a pit of crap with absolutely no quality control. After this experience, I now NEVER buy anything with the Sunbeam name on it. Another brand loyal customer gone, and never to return. Good work Sunbeam. The only thing you have manufactured that works well are products that don’t work well, and destroy your customer base.

First use.... won't release! – The knife was given to me as a gift. I used it for the first time. I found it combersome and wouldn't cut properly then when i tried to take the blades out to clean it....... stuck! I am going to have to throw it away. And landfill no longer take electrical items. So I would like Sunbeam to either fix it or pay for postage so they can have it recycled. And give me my money back! Show details

18 years on and still going strong – We don't use it often, only about once a month but 18 years on it's still going hard, and as an added bonus the blades still release! Would definitely recommend and buy again. (Purchased September 2001) Show details

A really badly designed product – The knife failed to release the blades, and so could not be effectively washed to keep it hygienic. Being an experienced mechanical engineer, I attempted to repair it, but found the design such that it could not be disassembled with the knives in place. After radical surgery, I was able to disassemble it, to find a cheap plastic part in the… Read more

release mechanism had failed, and was not repairable. After some reworking, I was able to convert it to manual release, but this is not for the faint-hearted. Subsequently, I researched repair and review information, and found a sorry tale. This product is an insult to the respected name of Sunbeam, and all purchasers should get their money back.

Switch button too difficult to hold for more than a few seconds – We have had a sunbeam electric knife for over 40 years and used it happily. When it needed replacing we chose Sunbeam again as it had served us well in the past. However we find this current model ergonomically uncomfortable to use and painful to hold finger on button for more then couple of seconds. We expected improved technology after all this time. Disappointed.  Show details

A useless knife – I am so disappointed with this knife! The blades couldn't carve my tender roast meat! My hand hurt like heck, both because I had to try to push the knife through the meat to carve, ( they acted as though they were totally blunt), and holding the button in caned! Now blades are jammed in and I can't get them out. Poor show Sunbeam! I expected… Read more

better from you!!! I only used it three times. The blades got stuck on the fourth try and wouldn't cut the meat at all. The knife was packed away in storage for a very long time because I moved house. It's probably out of warranty now. I feel totally cheated!!! I haven't got a clue what date I bought it.

Utter crap with built in design fault. Sunbeam is royally screwing their customers. DON'T BUY THIS I – The blade release mechanism relies on a tiny piece of plastic that holds a spring-loaded pivot. The plastic bracket is so fragile it will always break, making the release mechanism collapse and causing the blades to be permanently stuck in the knife. This product is so badly designed it should be withdrawn from the market. Or more realistically,… Read more

it was deliberately and cynically designed to break so the consumer has to throw it away. Utterly and totally disgusted that Sunbeam would put their name on such a piece of shoddy rubbish.

died in a month!!! – This Sunbeam Carveasy Pro EK5600 was given to us as a gift, in brand new conditon, with original seal on box. We started to use it about a month ago, only for slicing home-made bread. For a small family of two (no kids), we only make a small bread once a week, then would use this knife to slice the fresh bread for only 5 or 6 slices at most, then… Read more

normally would throw away the rest of the bread after 2 days. Even though, this knife died on me within one month of minimum use. Unbelievable!! It makes strange funny noise, and the 2 blades wouldn't move at all. I tried to carefully help the blades move, but they only moved for 2 seconds and stopped again.

Oh, and, all other people said were true. This knife is huge in size, very difficult to hold unless you have a very big hand. Sometimes in the middle of cutting one slice of bread, it would just stop, then you will have to stop pressing the trigger and start pressing again to continue the cut.

I am obviously very dissapointed. I used to trust Sunbeam brand 100%. Now I will stay away from this brand for quite a while.

Sunbeam Carveasy – Carveasy does not carve at all. Had one for years best ever it died years ago and I went back to the good old fashioned knife. Special trip to Hornsby today just to buy one, it was back the good old fashioned knife to carve my many meats. There was a time when Sunbeam was one of the best that you could buy, sadly not anymore.

Didn't cut – Our 20+ year old GE Electric knife has just died. We shopped around trying to find a knife like it. Friends who used to have the same GE Knife told us that you won't find one today which is a good. We purchased this Sunbeam electric knife and returned it after just one use as it would not cut our roast. It was because the blades did not fit… Read more

together snug - they had a slight bow away from each other in the centre, letting the meat get stuck between the blades. Maybe another one of the same knife may been OK but we live in a remote rural area & it was the last on the shelf so we returned it for a refund and bought a Breville BEK5 knife instead. We've had it a couple of weeks and it cuts fresh home baked bread & roast meat well - almost as good as our old GE Knife. Not sure how long it will last yet of course but so far we are very happy with it. We suspect the mixed reviews on both brands of these knives depend on how well the blades are made - they need to fit together VERY SNUG or they won't cut well.

Awful - not fit for purpose – We bought this knife to cut home-made bread. We had just had a Breville which died. I wasn't happy with the Breville as I thought it was slow and didn't cut the bread very well so I spent an extra $20 on the Sunbeam. Surely a $60 knife would be 150% better than a $40 knife. WRONG! Cutting bread with this knife is frustratingly slow. The handle has… Read more

dreadful ergonomics. Instead of a squeezing motion the user needs to slide with their finger as they are gripping and because the blades are so inefficient this position has to be held for some time. This knife is so much worse than the Breville. Then without warning when the knife was 9 months old it made a strange noise and completely lost all power to the blades. We took it back to the retailer, changed back to Breville and got our $20 back. Seriously, is there no company that can make a decent knife?

Hard to cut, hard to hold – For some reason, I didn't see the reviews on this site and ended up buying one as it was the 'best' of two knives (only) that Harvey Normans had in stock. Prior to this I had a Black and Decker Slimline for about 15+ years. I use it only to slice home made bread. This Sunbeam knife is abysmal. machinery, but this knife is almost too big for even my hand. Trying to keep the switch pushed up and in, whilst trying to hold the large handle and slice through crusty bread is almost impossible.

It doesn't cut crusty bread. The blades are crap!! It's too big and bulky, the on-off switch.... well, there must be a tech at Sunbeam who is laughing his head off at everyone who buys one of these things and tries to keep the switch on while using it.

It used to take me less than a minute to slice a crusty loaf of bread with my B&D Slimline....... it takes me about 5mins (with repeated rest stops!!) with the Sunbeam.

I'm looking for my receipt and will be taking it back to Harvey Normans for a refund.

DO NOT BUY....... unless you have hands the size of dinner plates and only have really soft things to slice.

This is a shocking knife – Do not buy this knife. The blade does not cut Turkey, ham or bread with ease. Unlike the old knife that worked well. Bought from Harvey Norman 24/12/2014. I will purchase a new knife with better cutting blade of a different make.

Extreme Disappointment – We purchased a Carveasy Pro for my father in law for Christmas. We already own two older style Sunbeam electric knifes and love them using them at least a couple of times a week. I reckon one of them is at least 25 years old. Of course when you on a good thing stick to it, that why we bought another Sunbeam. I cannot understate my extreme… Read more

disappointment with this new knife. I cannot believe that Sunbeam product development/approval people could consider allowing this knife to be sold under the Sunbeam name.

The knife does not work, I tested it Boxing day on a cold leg of ham and as stated by Tony S the slices come up between the blades. The blades do not cut, they instead saw the meat leaving finely sawed meat everywhere. The blades say they are Micro Serrated, they do not cut nicely compared to the older style scalloped type blades that cut as cleanly and finely as you want. I am not sure how it would go on a warm roast, I don’t believe it would be much different as the problem is caused by the blades sawing and not cutting.

I could overlook all of the other things such as the on/off switch and blade release mechanisms if the thing actually cut meat. I am not into beating up companies over every little thing I don’t like about something and madly packaging things up and returning them. But this product just does not work, and the fact that Sunbeam have released this onto the market in this state I have no option this time but to return it.

The worst – My boss brought this for us to use cutting bread rolls, Baps. It is the worst product ever it doesn't cut at all, you need to use a sawing motion to cut the Baps and hold it up high on a angle to even start cutting the rolls. I have a Subeam that is probably 10 yrs old and it's great, but the new one I wouldn't waste my time. The blades on the new one are different and it is gutless cutting bread. Dont buy

A BADLY DESIGNED KNIFE – This is the WORST electric knife I have ever had. To think I threw away my 40-y-o SUNBEAM ELECTRIC KNIFE to replace it with this. Impossible to use without getting a very sore hand. The button to start it is under the hand held part and you have to pull it back towards you to start & keep pulling the switch back while cutting. an ergonomic handle? All I ended up with was a sore hand & bruised finger..

Great unit – I had a 20 year old sunbeam knife that was great, but seemed to be struggling with pork cracking etc. I replaced it with a $15 knife from Woolworths. It was worse. I purchased this unit, and it does cut well, but I still fall back on the old unit when I cannot find all the blades. Better than the supermarket style el-cheapo knives.
