Terrible – Dont waste your time and money with xbox. The product is average and the service is horrible. They do not care about customers. I must admit it is a regrettable buy.

Don't waste your money, buy Sony – So was an avid xbox user till we recieved an update a few yrs back now, where it locked me out of my account. Spent hours on the phone with "customer support" who told me I needed my original email and password from 5yrs prior to access MY account. Told them I had lost the details but could give them the barcode, (they asked for it really) to… Read more

which they were happy with and needed to call me back. They never did. At all. So after multiple attempts at this I decided Microsoft does not/do not care. So I lost hundreds of dollars that I'd spent on games themes and content I lost the lot. After this all my mates all my mates mates went Sony. I'd advise you to do the same. Not only is it a nicer looking console compared to xbox's clunky look and feel, they run super smooth. The controllers feel far superior, and ergonomical and the buttons are far lighter. Somehow microsoft have managed to make theirs feel analog, and no matter what I did, I had to keep taking my eyes off the screen to look down so i could find the start button as xbox has that dumb uneven thumbstick thing going on that makes no sense to me. I honestly thought I'd be impressed but should have known better. Microsoft are only in this game for your hard earned cash and have no intention on procuring anything that has been promised. Slow, laggy, outdated, clunky and old hat. Just try something else, at least you won't be let down like like you would with microrip.

Bad luck with 360 and customer service – I was never a Playstation fan...always loved the exclusives for xbox. Gears of War specifically. In the last 7 years, I had owned a 360 on many different occasions. My first two got two he red ring of death. The failure rate of these consoles were high when two high when they first came out and I had actually frankensteined two together to… Read more

make a working one that lasted for quite sometime. My next purchase was a Gears of War 360 console but redownloading my profile was hell and the customer service was terrible helping me as I had forgotten all of my security questions years down the road. Eventually with luck I transferred it with a USB.

Well-this system was fabulous for awhile until the internal memory crashed a couple years into owning it and hundreds of hours of gaming were lost. I gave it up and quit gaming for a couple years.

I bought a new 360 4 months ago and created a new gamer profile. Just a few days ago a system update prompted and gave me an error code. Again-customer service was useless and none of the support methods worked- the omy option was to take it in and repair it for around what I could buy a used one for. Microsoft has let me down again. I would not recommend this system to anyone and am going Playstation.

Two X-Boxes since 2006 and they're still going strong! – I've had the XBox 360 since 2006 when Halo 3 came out and wanted more from my unit that was aging the original XBox. The 360 was a leap forward with the duel GPU's and all the hype with the hard drive and other bits and pieces, some more marketing orientated than functional. The added graphics for games Like Halo or COD and even Forza was… Read more

enough to capture my imagination and keep me off the streets for hours.

The 360's controllers are ergonomic and really nice to use and are pretty easy on batteries - I use Energizer lithiums and these keep the weight down and keep the controllers running for ages. I keep them serviced and lubricated with silicone spray and they continue to work year after year and are smooth as silk!

My only real gripe is the added power pack that was with the 360's! Its hugely disappointing and the heat that the unit is room warming especially in winter as its 200Watts... The power packs cable is like a 125kVA cable and has the ability to bend like Ti rod's... Its a really difficult item to position as the cable is short and the power pack needs to be near the XBox - I fixed it by cutting a milk crate and putting the 360 on top and the power pack lives under the console - there is heaps of air flow so no issues of RROD. The latest generation console has made away with it completely, pitty the later carnations of the 360 didnt make away with it...

The Origional 20Gb unit suffered from RROD and was sent back and lost in the mail by Aust Post, so another refurbished unit was sent back and this had a new motherboard and ran completely silent and is fantastic till this day! My own personal 360 the Elite is a more environmentally friendly unit and uses alot less power and is virtually indestructible, and has gone on many a trip to mates places and travelled with me in its own bag. Its a self contained unit and I have the WiFi adapter installed and two black controllers - this has saved me from bordum many times over for sure!!! And has never ever suffered from RROD ever!

The issues that most people complain about from the PS camp is the cost of yearly subscription to XBox live, get over yourselves and your poorly selling consoles. XBox live is just what it is and it's just like bank fees that are common place - what do you get for free on PS?

Otherwise - there are a heap of mods for the 360 including better fans, shells and vinyl wraps to give them a better look if you get bored with it, controllers, wifi adapters, video remotes and other bits and pieces that are not OEM.

Give the old console a go rather than the newer console, as the Elites are cheaper, have a 120Gb HDD and the additional parts as listed above are as cheap as chips! Solid construction, easy to set up, games range. The later 360's dont suffer from RROD at all... Lots of huge system updates, cost of subscription to Live but not that bad overall for what you get...

Great Console at a Great Price – I recently purchased an Xbox 360 console with the smaller 4GB hard drive. This has recently been released by Xbox and they have significantly dropped the price to around $250. The added bonus with this new update of the console is built-in wifi, which was paramount for me. The way our Internet is setup at home, makes it almost impossible to… Read more

run an ethernet cable from our router to the Xbox (separate rooms), so I was relying heavily on the built in wifi. I set the Xbox up (too easy), set up my Live account and jumped on to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The first game I played (xbox live), I experienced super heavy lag which is obviously a problem. I quickly restarted our router, though that didn't do a thing.

I read up on a few support forums and they all suggested using Xbox's wireless network adapter. I had a look into this and with a price of $150 (almost as much as the console itself) there was no way I was going to pay this.

I have my own network adapter for my PC (Netgear N300 Wireless Adapter - $70), though I couldn't find anything online as to whether this would be compatible. I plugged it into the back of the Xbox and it was perfect. Instantly lag free.

So a note for all those out there who are looking at buying this console due to the Wifi, you may need to purchase an adapter. As mentioned the N300 seems to be compatible so that may be your best bet. Cheap, Easy Setup, Great Graphics. Build in wifi isn't as good as I would have liked.

Good value for money – Xbox 360 is a very good and reliable device. Kinect sensor is amazing to use. A lot of games are available online and in store with a very good prices. The only problem I had, all the data has been deleted once before with no reason! Just restored the device snd it works fine now.

Awesome product – I have always been a PlayStation person and have an original PS1 and PS2 (which are packed away). I never had incentive to get an XBox until i tried my sisters with Kinect. The only drawback is that you have to pay for XBox Live to have multiplayer online.

I bought a 4GB XBox (which actually only has 1.1GB free space). I added a 32GB flash drive to expand the storage space for games and stuff.

Still, I love it, might be no going back now. :) Great system, Kinect is awesome, plenty of games available. Have to pay to play online

Could play it all day long – It plays more games than PS3. Has a great online community. It works at a harddrive to store my photographs. I can add the kinect which all the family love to play. Wireless controllers are great because no cables to trip over. Bundles are a pretty option that the accessories themselves which can be pricey. Games and accessories are cheaper than alternative consoles

Garbage, completely unfriendly and profit driven for Microsoft – Plug and play is a thing of the past, this Xbox 360 is the biggest pile of garbage I have ever had the misfortune of owning. Between the crap I have had to put up with in relation to my Office account I should have known better than try again with this greed drive monstrosity call Microsoft.

Perhaps they should look at honest advertisements and tell everyone just how hard it is to get started, but then no one would buy it!

I can only hope that the playing experience is worth the stress and crap I have had to endure to get started, if I ever do.

My advise to potential purchases of Xbox, DONT.

Crapola! – Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. If you value your sanity don't bother creating an Xbox live account - painful process & rarely any ability to sign in. Tortuous process to try & give feedback which Microsoft obviously don't want.

Good games, hours of fun – A lot of variety of games, recommend downloading the games. Some games could use less achievements. Am thinking some games could use more checkpoints, especially on veteran/insane levels especially when playing single player. Wireless controllers work great, durable last along time. Works good with Tritton Warhead 7.1 wireless headset.

Reasonable product – The Xbox 360 is a good gaming system, with a quite a few faults. Xbox 360 has many, many games available for it. This is because it is one of the most prominent gaming systems around. There's a lot of poor things, but there are also a lot of quality games available, The standard console comes with plenty of space (250GB) which you will… Read more

need if you want to play online or/and install games. Installing games allows the console to run the game without spinning the disc. All the data is on the console already, so it doesn't have to work as hard. This means less generated heat and noise. If you don't install games, the console is very loud and gets very hot. In my opinion, installing games is a must, and the 4GB console option is basically a rip off.

The other way space is used is for downloading game and console updates. These take up lots of space, certainly much more than 4GB.

If you want to talk to friends or play online, you need Xbox Live. XBL is good - but it costs money. Roughly $100 from money-hungry Microsoft, but much cheaper from places like eBay.

The thing I've noticed with Microsoft is that they charge for almost everything, and they do everything they can to squeeze every last dollar from you. One example is Microsoft Points. MSP is the Xbox currency. You use it to make purchases on your Xbox. But they only sell MSP in increments, and the usual cost for something is below one of these increments. So you have to purchase more MSP than you need to buy something. For example, a standard charge is 1600 MSP. But they don't sell 1600 MSP. They sell 2000 MSP.

Another one of their sneaky ways is to make sure when you make a purchase, they automatically turn "auto renew" on. This means that they will automatically charge your credit card repeatedly for something you buy, most noticeably Xbox Live. To disable this you have to go to the Xbox.com website.

The Xbox 360 is not very reliable. I get frequent freezes, which result in having to completely shut it down and re-boot. The menus and interface are good, a little slow but definitely nothing to complain about.

I would recommend Xbox only if you have friends who have it too, so that you can play with them. PlayStation still allows you to connect and talk to friends, but not as well as Xbox Live. The PlayStation also has BluRay, meaning better DVD playback and each PlayStation game holds more data (Xbox games often come on two discs). Online service (even though it costs money), many games. Everything costs more than it should, unreliable.

Great device! A few bugs, though – The Xbox 360 is a great device for anyone that likes playing games. The Xbox boasts a fantastic library of games of all genres. I've noticed that some of the earlier titles seem to be a bit bad plot-wise. They also don't take advantage of the Xbox 360 hardware. Make sure to get more recent games, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. I LOVE Call of… Read more

Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Xbox Live turns some people off due to the price, but you get what you pay for. Xbox Live is a solidly built network that'll keep you addicted. Halo: Reach takes advantage of it really well - you can play live matches with up to 15 other people - and many games let more than one person per console play online as well. Some games also offer a guest mode, so as long as one person has Xbox Live, other people can play as well.

The Xbox 360 S (the slim version) - the new one - looks very slick. The Xbox 360 can also play a wide variety of video files, and can become a media centre if you choose. The Xbox 360 can stream music and video from a Windows based computer wirelessly. This functionality is referred to as - rather aptly - Windows Media Centre.

If you're anything like me and want to take your Xbox 360 to other places, though, be careful that dust can show up on the device (because, you know, IT'S BLACK). I also have to say that the DVD player is not one of the world's best. Some of the games are rather expensive, as well, and I've noticed that many Xbox Live patrons (especially on Call of Duty and Halo: Reach) seem to be young juveniles. Avoid voice chat unless you know the person.

In short, I think I'll be getting a PlayStation 3 soon, just to see what it's like. But for someone who just wants to play games, go Xbox. I have to admit - honestly - the games library is more vast.

And to address the people that are holding out because of the "Red Ring of Death", we've had out Xbox 360 for 2 and a half years now and it has not failed.

So I guess I'm kind of neutral. Many games, lots of categories, inexpensive, some of the games are great, great internet service, looks awesome, plays many videos, can be a media centre Some earlier games are really bad, you have to pay for Xbox Live (as opposed to the PlayStation Network, which is free), dust shows up on the unit, gets very loud at times (and you WILL notice, even from your couch), gets hot, most Xbox Live patrons are little kids that betray their own team, DVD player isn't good, no internet browser, no warranty

my 360 and am saving up for a PS3. Non-Slim consoles are generally cheaper than the competition. But they have more issues (read below). Any Xbox 360 manufacturer before 2009 are prone to overheating and game-reading faults. New XBOX 360 Slims are much more reliable however costs almost exceeding the PS3 which includes more features.

Games are 60-80% tangible (you don't own the online play) you have to pay an extra $80 (rarely discounted to $50) a year in subscription fees.

far. Shows how much faith M$ put into their "product". Anyway as you can probably guess, my 360 (which was repaired in 2008) has failed again with the red rings of death. Thankfully I bought a PS3 in 2008 as well which is undeniable a superior machine. Since 2008 when my 360 was repaired, I've barely used it. Tried it about a month ago for the first time in months, and of course the graphics card exploded, red rings of death. Screw you microsoft, thanks for the "free" operating system and software. Makes a nice place to stack magazines on. Also holds down the corner of my rug which is curling up a bit. When it works (occasionally), it's noisy enough to scare away my bogan neighbours who think they're hearing a chainsaw running. Let's see... breaks down, noisy, scratches CDs & DVDs, plays DVDs only (no blu ray, no more HD-DVD since the format died), rrod, having to pay for online gaming, ripoff hard disk prices, brand new faceplate that came with unit falls off spontaneously etc.

the console. (thats pretty nice :O). Now in comparison to the ps3 which i also have, now remember this is not a fanboy perspective i own both consoles and i do not feel personally devoted to any of them. The xbox 360 in my personal view is a better value, i don't care about blue ray or had dvd so that doesn't make a difference to me. I care about graphics and game quality. People say that the ps3 surpasses the 360 in the graphic category well this isn't true, just by comparing the specs of the two systems the xbox 360 has much faster capabilities for video presentation. (aka better graphics) Im not trying to diss the ps3, in it's own rights the ps3 has a better processor which can do more things at once, although it isn't being used by companies yet even though its been a whole year after it was released. When games come out i tend to buy them for my xbox 360 not my ps3 i tend to just use my ps3 for exclusives (the few good ones they have). Main ally the reason for this is that the 360 has BY FAR the best online server that will ever exist for consoles, no lie it is really that good. I would give the xbox 360 a 4 1/2 but i can not so i will have to give it a 5 out of 5, i wont lower the rating because there are much more things that are good, then there are bad. (ps3 i would rate a flat 4, assuming good games come out for it in the future, if not i would have to lower it to a 3 because the games so far are just pitiful for it sorry to say fanboys :( Great list of games, wonder visuals, and the best thing of all, it has the best online service of all 3 of the big console names. Possibility of it braking (although it never happened to me yet)
