My Fisher & Paykel been so good – Finally, it is the end of my dryer AD55 fisher & Paykel, that I have had for so many years, at least 15 yrs and we are a big family, can't believe how amazing it's been. The death of it started with the door cracking so I put tape to keep it together for another year and now the lock broke...I am so sad! Show details
Sad to see it go – Have had this tumble drier for over 20yrs. It was been amazing.. well built never let us down.. would highly recommend it anyone who was wanting one. We have dried our king Doona in it and never had a problem. We only paid $199 for it best value for money. Show details
Still going strong – Model- AD55U I can’t believe mine is over 2 decades old and still going strong. Quality built machine that was made in New Zealand. If it was built in China it would’ve died by now. The white plastic has never discoloured to yellow. Still looks new! Show details
Reliable but has yellowed plastic – I use it for cottons on hot and socks etc on cool. It's been reliable. I'm not impressed with the yellowed plastic unfortunately. Replacement plastic cover parts are available for $100 though. The wall mount we have means the unit had to be angled up so much that it scraped the roof when installed. Pretty heavy to manoeuvre. No bell and whistles as I like. Possibly a bit noisy. Show details
Great going 20 plus years – Have had this product over 20 years and as been very reliable for us. Sadly the timer no longer works and you have to restart every 10 minutes. Would buy again but for now daughter has given us a Tempo to use.
18 years of hassle free use – Bought this dryer in 2002 and today after 18 years of use the door bracket broke which sadly means it won't work. I'd buy this model again if i could Show details
Reliable old chap – Had the AD55 since 2005.. does the work everytime.. broken down once.. front drum axle , and pulleys worn.. the white door frame found cracked after 13 yrs of use.. went to the local local parts dealer n got the spares needed.. replaced it myself n it works fine again.. still a gd n simple dryer.. Loved it.. Show details
Good machine! – Our F & P AD55 dryer has been working for more than 22 years! A couple of times the starting capacitor needed changing, but buying replacement capacitor for a few dollars on eBay was no problem. Noticed one person mentioned that timer switch wont turn in both directions, it's not supposed to, it only turns in a clockwise direction! Good machine and doesn't make much noise when running. Used almost daily. Show details
use it everyday – I’ve had this dryer for a while and it keeps going and going. I’ve never had a problem with it and I use it almost everyday. it dries your clothes quickly and has never ruined our clothes to this day as some other brands do. we are happy with our choice and back it all the way. Reliable – Just konked out after 20 years. It maybe be repairable, but keen to get a heat pump condenser dryer. Not a bad run, though I would say it was used probably on average once per month over that period. We had it hanging on wall. Lint filter did require regular cleaning but otherwise a low maintenance machine. Show details
Long life dryer – We have one of these dryers and it has worked faultlessly for maybe 10 years (or longer?). It is mounted upside down and we have no problem with the info being upside down. Apparently you can buy a sticker, which I believe is costly? Just recently the timer has developed an issue where the time winds down quite quickly (90 mins will finish in… Read more · 2
about 5 mins)?
A replacement timer switch is about $120 for a second hand part, so it may be time for an upgrade?
Overall it has been a terrific product and is highly recommended.
A very reliable workhorse - don't think I want to replace it – I have had one of these dryers for about 14 years. I only used it a few times a week until I had kids, but for the past 5 years+ it's dried 5-15 loads per week. I've had to have it repaired once so far (something burnt out in it 3 years ago which had to be replaced). It does generate lint and steam, but with the laundry window cracked open and… Read more
regular cleaning around the machine. I empty the lint filter before running each load, and this has the easiest filter by far that I've ever dealt with.
It's recently started having trouble turning, I have to give the drum a turn or two after loading. I've been looking at replacement dryers and honestly am having trouble finding anything that looks to be as reliable. After reading the Q&As on this product, I think I'll call a technician to see if it needs the motor start capacitor replaced, before spending the $$$ on a new dyer.
Quite good - can still get spare parts after 14 years! – Has proven very reliable. The motor start capacitor failed after 14 years use. I went to the local store in Cambridge, New Zealand, and they had the part in stock. I fitted that, and have not had another problem since. While fixing it, I noticed the design and build quality was economical, but good. This dryer has been moved to 6 different houses, so it must be fairly robust. Reliable

Excellent Dryer! – This Fisher Paykel dryer has been very reliable and has good capacity with maximum 4.5kg load. The drier has two settings for different materials so gives flexibility. It dries very well. We have had the dryer 7 years and has been operating every day. REmovable linen filter so very easy to clean. I would buy another one undoubtedly. Reliable. Dries well
Excellent – I baught this dryer about 7 years ago and it gets used on a daily basis. I have NEVER had an issue or a problem which really supprised me. clothes dry quickly, i attribute the lack of problems to the fact is a manual and has no electronic extra gizmos to break down. Reliable after 7 worry frees years of continuous use. I have nothing bad to say.
OK – This dryer is a very basic one but does what you need it too. It dries the clothes quickly and as long as you clean the lint filter very often it is a good machine - Cheap - Dries clothes quickly - - Lint filter seems to fill very quickly - If not cleaned often (after every use) the lint blows out of the fliter and out of the machine all over the laundry
OK – Further to my last review, after about 3 months of no use, went to put something in the dryer in an emergency and the capacitor went. A new part was found cheaply on ebay and I had it working again in seconds. Parts easily obtained and repaired without need to call the repairman. See earlier review re dodgy door closure
Good – If you want something cheap that simply dries your clothes quickly, this is your product. In my opinion a dryer doesn't need to be fancy, it just needs to work. Keep it clean (easy to clean lint filter too!) and don't knock it around and it will be 100% reliable for many years. Cheap and reliable. I had mine for years and years and recently… Read more
sold it (for a pretty good return I might add).
Nothing fancy but it just goes. Has a hot/warm setting, is reverse tumble and easy to wall mount. It doesn't have any fancy settings and blows dust/lint on your wall if you don't clean it after every use.
Terrible – Low regard for F&P with second product letting us down, previously owned smart drive washing machine which wasn't a smart purchase decision. Easy to use,no complicated settings. Front motor bearing has spun on armature shaft (suspect from new but now out of warranty) resulting in considerable vibration in use. Armature replacement needed with new bearing. Should not have happened!!
Good – Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but who honestly needs that? It cools the clothes down towards the end of the cycle to prevent wrinkling and has a delicates option. I only use mine during the wet season and it is now 6 years old. The lint filter does need to be changed quite often and it does seem like a bit of lint gets trapped around… Read more
the door, but the clothes always come out alright. It was cheap and works well, parts are easy to get and cheap as well. The capacitator broke once, but was cheap to replace.
Excellent – This machine worked as intended with multiple cycles per week for 10 years. That they still make this model after such a long time is testament to its good engineering. It dries clothes quickly on the regular (hotter) cycle. The synthetic/delicate (cooler) cycle is adequate for those clothes types. For people who only use a tumble drier and yet… Read more
have space for a clothes line, go buy a clothes line and don't be so lazy. Tumble driers should be used only when you can't open air dry. Reliable - this unit lasted for 10 years without a problem, dries clothes well. Rear venting not as flexible out of the box as it could be.
Excellent – This dryer has been functioning well for us for 4 years now. I use it several times a week and it dries clothes well and quickly on the hotter setting. The cooler setting takes a while but I guess that is what is was designed for anyway. I have been impressed with how reliable this machine is. Much of the time I don't even have to iron clothes… Read more
if I remove them whilst still hot. Good reliable dryer. Has been going for 4 years now without a problem. It works quickly. Nothing really. Clothes can come out of the dryer with static on them.

Excellent – I bought this dryer because I trust the brand and I was looking for a dryer that had a filter at the front. I have had this dryer for nearly seven years and nothing has gone wrong with it. It has been moved interstate twice and still looks and functions like brand new. This dryer is easily mounted on the wall. The stainless steel tumbler is easy… Read more
to keep clean and also helps me see if any thing is left in the dryer. Lint filter is in the front for easy cleaning because clogged up filters are a fire hazard.Dries the clothes well and doesn't leave them tangled. No real negatives. Sometimes there is a lot of static electricity when the clothes are dry.
Excellent – I brought my dryer 10 years ago and it has never broken down on me. It has been moved numerous times and still work perfectly afterwards. Its easy to use and keep clean. I like the fact that the filter is on the front. I would buy another one when I need to. Very trusted brand fisher and paykel and you can relay on them to produce a great long… Read more
lasting product great dryer, no problems and mine is now 10 years old ( has never broken down) filter on front, easy to keep clean clothes come with static in them, can be a bit noisy at times

to have your cloths dryer thats rotates ME forget it i HATE IT give me the dryers that turn one way, it turns on it gos till it stops this stopping and starting as i said it ok for outside but DEFINALTY NOT FOR A UNIT the noise will DRIVE YOU NUTS---and just to add i am out of luck to get a new dryer as they arent making them any more
Terrible – This is the VERY LAST TIME I ever touch another F & P product. I wont be paying over $200 to get a $369 dryer repaired. Heap of rubbish. Bought this dryer just under 3 years ago and the timer dial has already packed it in. The machine has barely been used - probably less than one year's average use. When I set the dial to go for 60 mins (on… Read more
either cycle) the dial turns around too quickly and in 5 - 10 mins it comes to the end and turns itself off. Has also ceased to rotate in different directions. Just goes the one way. If I want some clothes dried I have to keep going in there every 10 minutes and turning it back on.
Excellent – I love this machine- It has not failed me and i use it at least 4 times a week on average. I reccomend it, as it does the job and it is a well respected, reliable brand. Fantastic, does the job. Delicate and regular cycle. Easy to use. Reliable. Reasonable in price. Has the hanger and interchangable for use when you have limited space and need to… Read more
use it upside down hanging above the wahing machine. None really that I can think of- I suppose it is a bit basic but for a dryer what else do you need it to do?
