masonary bit as on hammer mode it tends to jump around a bit before starting to bite I actually start on normal drill mode to create a small hole and then switch to hammer/drill mode to get the hole exactly where it is required It also has the wireless connector if required

A brilliant 5kg rotary and demolition hammer. Milwaukee Kanga 540s – The Kanga 540S, 1100 watt, 7.5j, 5kg class hammer is now superseded. I bought mine about 2 years ago as a last of stock offer. As an SDS MAX hammer … Read more

It has proven to be excellent, it is the only Milwaukee tool I own, as a corded unit I’m not dependent upon batteries. It was great value at the end of line slow sale, and although at the time I didn’t have a particular need for it the value and performance of the unit was outstanding

As the only SDS MAX Rotary hammer I have it has proven to be invaluable. Easily able to drill into rock hard concrete with drill bits up to 32 mm which is the biggest I’ve needed to use, I have a preference for 4 cutter carbide tipped bits by Bosch and Milwaukee which have proven to be outstandingly efficient at what they do. I also have a range of additional max bits, shovels breakers chisels etc and this unit handles them all with ease. The unit wires around 6 kg plus The drill bit, and while at times after hours on and off of work it may get a little heavy as I am not a big fellow, The heavy duty punch this unit can deliver is well above its weight burden and therefore provides an outstanding weight versus delivery impact benefit.

The unit has proved to be reliable, comfortable has good vibration absorption and is safe to handle, as it is fitted with the usual up-to-date safety features.

While the unit has now been superseded by the 545 S, which in my opinion would just continue the high quality of the 540S, with just a bit more power and a bit more capacity, I believe any purchaser of this unit would be well impressed.

I have a number of Bosch corded SDS plus hammer drills which include the Bosch GBH 4 – 32 DFR, which has been my go to unit for many years when extra heavy duty was needed, the 540 S provided me a further step up in power and a step up in drill bit fitment e.g. SDS MAX, and I have found that generally the quality and reliability that I treasure in my Bosch SDS plus units has been mirrored by the 540S And I have been very impressed with its capacity and Robust design, And for me that’s a real compliment to it. I did get the unit at a very much reduced price however I feel after some period of ownership and use It would be good value even at its retail price which at the time would’ve been in the region of $840. So well done 540 S.

Purchased this 1050w Full Boar demolition hammer kit from Bunnings to lift kitchen and laundry tiles as it was hard work using hand tools and at… Read more

under $200 it was cheaper than hiring a demolition hammer for 2 days. Came with 2 chisel attachments and grease in a solid case. What a godsend it was. It wasn't too heavy although I sat on a gardening seat on wheels to use most of the time to save my back & knees and supported my arms on my legs, hubby needed a slightly higher chair due to knee injury. This demolition hammer was so easy to use, lifted the tiles easily, even used it to scape the residual glue off the concrete slab, just had to watch the angle coz too vertical and it will cut away the concrete underneath so keep at about a 45 degree angle. Have read reviews that its great for bricks and concrete paths but haven't ventured that far yet. Great for beginner DIYers. When purchasing dont forget to grab some ear, eye and hand protection as bits of sharp tile may fly up it not using at the right angle. Definately value for money. I highly recommend it.

Great rotary hammer, for smaller hole sizes – This is proving to be a very useful addition to my toolbox. It is great for 6mm to 8mm hole sizes, for all the smaller fittings I have to install. … Read more

Tool is very well balanced, easily powerful enough for these smaller holes. My bigger rotary hammers are spending more time at the bottom if the toobox.

I do some home and volunteer planting in 'hard country'. I needed a drill with handle to prevent wrist damage when using a soil auger. Used 'in the… Read more

field' with breaks between tree-planting, no problem. Used at home to begin a stump extraction - drilled multiple holes - it overheated, and apparently an override/cut-out came into effect. The smoke did not leak out! - and it worked normally a few hours later and the next day. 85 Newtons is 'barely enough' - I probably should have purchased the next one up ($60 more, though, or 25-35% more expensive, depending how you calculate it). The handle design is 'adequate' - a fairly simple U-clamp, might not stand up to continued heavy use, and hampers the heat-sink. This is the cheapest one you can get 'with a handle' and there's no provision for or ability to make up a clamp for ordinary drills/drivers - any clamping points are either places with switches or conical.

Value for money, though, I'm content, for now.
