Great value Soundbar, had this for about 7 years now. As long as you're not expecting the sound to be Cinema or Nightclub quality, it's fine

The Bluetooth connection to the surround sound continually drops out – The experience of listening to music and watching movies is ruined by the inconsistency with the Bluetooth connection. Even having "connection… Read more

Great Soundbar for the money, disappointing Sony discontinued the rear speakers – Very happy with the sound and quality from this Soundbar but very disappointed Sony have discontinued the only compatible rear speakers HTZ9F. Why… Read more

keep selling the product with a manual that tells you how to connect the rear speakers when you can no longer purchase them. Was told they used to come with the unit, then they were removed so Sony could make more money by having them as an additional purchase and now can't get them at all. They could have at least then made the new SA-RS3S compatible with the HTZ9F. Wishing I had bought another brand now. Only purchased 2 weeks ago.

Great sound - terrible add-on speaker support – The general sound quality and phantom speaker function is pretty amazing, it gives fantastic full room sound feeling. The voice boost mode works… Read more

brilliantly, i don't have to watch films with the remote in my hand any more, i can set a comfortable volume and almost not touch it again.

HOWEVER... If you want a sub-woofer and rear speakers you are locked in to purchasing Sony bluetooth compatible speakers, it does NOT support any other third party bluetooth speakers. This is a major let down and frankly I would not have purchased had I known this. My fault for not doing thorough research but its poor form from Sony because it is not stated or warned in the advertising material for this bar.

I bought this soundbar to match with a Sony A95L TV, which, despite its amazing picture, has very poor sound. Despite the additional cost, it has… Read more

vastly improved my enjoyment of the TV, as I can now better understand what is being said.

The soundbar also works well for streaming/playing movies and music, although it hasn't much bass and almost begs for a subwoofer.

Set up was quite an exercise, despite only involving an HDMI cable from TV to soundbar and another from soundbar to DVD player (plus another to enable the soundbar to use the TV speaker). This sounds very simple, but there are no instructions supplied and very little guidance via the Sony website or even via YouTube videos.

The only sign of life on the soundbar is a light - white for TV, green for DVD player and blue for bluetooth. There is a remote, but everything is controlled by an app that must be loaded onto the phone. A not very intuitive app.

Fortunately, having everything Sony means a lot of the setup occurs automatically, leaving the acoustic settings which are fairly simple. Matching different brands of TV and soundbar could be a lot more complicated. Pairing with the phone via bluetooth was a struggle, but it worked in the end.

It would be very easy to become overwhelmed by the technology, even though it's not that difficult. It's just a pity that the guidance is so lacking.

Now that I can sit back and enjoy, I appreciate the sound quality although I would probably not have incurred the cost if the TV was not so poor in terms of sound. There may be better value for money alternative soundbars, but there is benefit in matching with the same brand to maximize simplicity and functionality.

Dealing with Sony Online was not a good beginning, with no support when the package was delayed. I wouldn't expect much from them in case of a problem, and hope this need doesn't arise.

In conclusion, the soundbar delivers in terms of sound quality, although expensive and would be even better with a subwoofer. Its setup is challenging, but can be achieved with time and patience. And finally, I would not expect much from Sony service.

Potentially great but nill customer support! – This was likely to be the best sound bar on the market but after spending the entire year it was covered by the warranty sending Sony requests,… Read more

emails, audio & video files Sony refused to address the clearly demonstrable issue. I am very skilled in technical know how & the problem from day one was issues with the Wi-Fi signal to the satellite speakers (rear & sub woofer). These cost in excess of $3,500. I eventually had to accept the issue which is garbled sound, breaking up, & static. The warranty ended & Sony did absolutely nothing. Our TV is a Sonl A95L 77" top end & it did exactly the same on our previous Sony 65" TV. Sony support is non existent. We will likely never buy another Sony product & we relate this attrocious support to many friends.
