Academic Built-In Wardrobes

I had my Builtins done 1 year ago and now Academic Builtins Wardrobe have shut down , I was told if I didn’t pay the full amount by a certain time my 10 years warranty would not comply . Academic now at Kings Park closed down and stuff all the customers and our warranty Do not trust this company

Built in custom wardrobes – Thank you to the team at Academic Wardrobes who were all very friendly, professional and helpful. Denise took her time to carefully talk through the details of the design providing advice and suggestions. Tony the installer was exceptional. He meticulously attended to every detail of the installation. The wardrobes look great and are exactly what I wanted.

was able to help us in designing the custom bookshelves and shelving for our space. Their customer service team, lead by Annette were professional and prompt in email and phone correspondence. Their fitter, Havier was reliable and very professional. We requested modifications to the shelving height and Havier was able to come back and resolve the issue so that the shelves were the correct height for the room/ space. The whole experience was positive and we are very happy with the bookshelves and shelving.

Misleading sales pitch and poor quality product – I engaged this company to build two wardrobes. I specified a certain brand of hinge and I even showed the sales rep the hinge on another wardrobes at my home. When time came to install the wardrobes they sent out one with a damaged door so we had a delay of a few weeks to get a new door. The installer became very aggressive when I refused to… Read more

accept the damaged door and stormed off. My painter who was present and even challenged the installer's behaviour. From that point I had numerous installers turn up to finish the job and no one took ownership for the quality. The end result was that hinges were falling off, soft close mechanisms also falling off and at one point the drawers left full of saw dust even one drawer which had socks in it. No quality control whatsoever. Loose screws and nails left in the carpet for us to stand on, When I complained the company refused to finish the job until I paid the final balance. I them engaged another contractor who advised me that Academic had used inferior hinges (not the ones specified by me) and that is why they were falling off. I have a bag of loose hardware to show for the $12,000 I spent with this terrible company. They use over sized unsightly shonky hinges which makes opening internal drawers a total nightmare as they keep colliding with the hinges. Very annoying. They do not stand behind their product or installation and from our experience they know nothing about functional wardrobe design. Don't be fooled by the slick sales pitch. Go somewhere else.
