Silly, greedy me bought a box of them from Aldi without testing a smaller pack first! I use 2 at a time in my XCD Digital hand held radio and can count the number of hours they last on (NOT) all the fingers of one hand! I know...I know...'you get what you pay for' from where you choose to do your paying! In other news...whoops...sorry...I don't know...the batteries just ran out!

Battery overheated. Can see the difference in the 2 batteries. Will never use again. Could have resulted in damage to device, however caught in time. Will be removing from all current devices. Show details

Do not buy these batteries they leak from new – Brand new pack of aaa batteries from Aldi. My daughter noticed stains on the packet, after a few days. Half the batteries are already leaking. I will be taking them back. Aldi really needs to be more rigorous in the quality control. These batteries will wreck any device they are put into. Show details

Super heavy duty - I don’t think so – I bought the Super Heavy Duty ones which are red. as per some older reviews, they run out quickly and fit poorly. And when I say they run out quickly, I mean quickly. 4 times faster than the big brands. Should be taken off the shelves because of environmental impact. Show details

Very poor quality – Summary: Poor quality - Bad for your pocket and environment at the same time! I recently tried out different types of Active Energy batteries, and unfortunately, my experience with them was far from satisfactory. As a consumer who values both quality and environmental responsibility, I was disappointed with the performance of these batteries. … Read more

One of the most glaring issues with Active Energy batteries is their poor quality. Despite their claims of being long-lasting and efficient, I found that they ran out of juice much quicker than other well-known battery brands I've used in the past.

What's even more concerning about Active Energy batteries is their negative impact on the environment. With their short lifespan and quick depletion, these batteries contribute to excessive waste. The constant disposal of batteries not only harms the environment but also adds to the growing problem of electronic waste.

Pretty good, but they run flat pretty quickly – Don't get me wrong, these AA batteries are pretty good, but it's just the battery life that doesn't cut it for me... Otherwise, pretty good AA batteries. Show details

Destructive – Have lost more than one device to these batteries. Life is ok but they almost always leak, so consistently that surely Aldi know this is an issue. Very disappointing from Aldi.

Waste of money – The batteries life is so short which is completely opposite a tv program which was claiming how Aldi batteries beat other well known brands. I don’t know how those batteries were tested but since then I bought a couple of packs of AA and AAA and I certainly did not experience the same. Show details

I have been using all sizes of Aldi rechargeable batteries over many years without problems – I use AAA, AA C and D sizes. I use them on a daily basis and have not had any failures or issues. Love them - my first choice every time, particularly at the price!

Went from great to useless – These batteries do work, they are cheap but woe will visit if you leave them unattended. In plain parliamentary terms, they are leakers. They leak almost as soon as that torch dims, basically ruining any device they are in. There is no ability to report this to Aldi so here it is. There is no time limit, they can leak just as well at 4 weeks as… Read more

they can at 4 months. Buyer beware. I attempted to contact Aldi regarding this and a message in a bottle might get more results.

Amazing performance – I purchased these batteries from the aldi shop based on price and quantity I use them in a little torch and I dropped my torch over the fence couldn't be bothered going and pick it up and two and a half weeks later 24/7 the light was still shining I couldn't believe it the power for the buck can't be beaten Show details

DANGEROUS! – One of my new strands of battery operated Christmas lights failed today for no apparent reason. They are only on 6 hours/day, the batteries were new when installed 3 weeks ago. Looked in battery compartment and new batteries were LEAKING!

Corrosive batteries – I've been buying these batteries for a few years but will not in the future due to the high level of corrosion inside devices and even the unused batteries, waiting to be used. I'm not going to risk this happening again so will buy better quality in future.  Show details

Discharged 4 years before use by date – I bought a pack of 40 AA batteries which expire in 2024. It is now 2020. Put 4 in a bathroom scale and it did not function correctly. Measured with battery tester and showed marginal voltage at 150 mA load. Tested 4 more, all poor. Show details

Downright DANGEROUS! – Beware of these cheap ALDI batteries! Both the rechargeable as well as the regular AA & AAAs explode and leak powdery battery acid all over the inside of the battery compartments leaving corrosion throughout and rendering the items unusable. This has now happened to THREE different belongings of mine, a wall clock, a TV remote and an expensive… Read more

Princeton Tec head lamp. I have taken photos and contacted ALDI customer service, so we will see what their response is.

UPDATE: Heard back from Aldi and they wanted the use by date and a bunch of info off the packaging, which I of course no longer had as the batteries were purchased over a year ago BUT still well in date as per the 04/2021 use by. They have basically said they cannot help me any further, but "will forward my experience on to the appropriate department". Bottom line is DO NOT BUY ALDI ACTIV ENERGY BATTERIES!!!

Activ Energy AA and AAA Batteries – These batteries work OK initially and the actual power of these batteries might be alright but they can and do leak badly and cause problems and I think they are a poor product. Activ Energy batteries have damaged, in my case, a home weather station, 2 x LED torches, a portable radio and an expensive headlamp -- all within the batteries 3 year… Read more

"guarantee" period. Guaranteed against what? After what I felt was this unusual number of failures I contacted Aldi, told them of my experiences and suggested they investigate and change their supplier. They did reply and after the third damage instance over only about 3 months and me sending photos of the damage they gave me my money back for all the batteries I was able to return to them but no compensation for the damaged devices. Despite acknowledging they may not be the best product, and saying that they "do their best" they gave no undertaking to do things better so I expect the same product will remain in their stores. Use these batteries by all means but do so thoughtfully. Absent special monitoring do expect that these Activ Energy batteries will eventually leak, make a mess and damage whatever they are installed in. And they will do this whilst relatively young. I also note for what it is worth that the Activ Energy alkaline batteries post 2016 appear to be from a different factory than those prior to that date. You may be better off to get name brand batteries on special, which is what I am doing from now on.
