Faulty 250W blanket with legs – Purchased blanket October 2020 and only used for approx 1 week since (due to Covid) ,blanket has only 0 to 1.5 amps in full sun and regulated via a Enerdrive DC to DC controller, contacted Kings and to my surprise were terrific in sorting the problem out. I have confidence in dealing with this company again , and wish all company’s would stand behind products they sell as Kings have shown me. Very good service indeed. Show details · 1
This product didn't work – I bought the 250W blanket in March 2021 along with the Kings 2kVa genny, Kings 1500W inverter and Kings 12 control box and tested it at home several times before our trip up north. It worked well at home, I have a Redarc BCDC 1225 dual battery system in the car and running a Waeco CFX90 dual zone fridge. The aux battery was being recharged whilst… Read more
running the fridge plus charging a Baintech 100AH portable battery.
We were away for 4 weeks in August, second day into the trip I noticed the aux battery voltage was low despite the blanket being in full sun on a high 20c day. I tested the Kings blanket output with a mate's rig and found I was only getting about 8W and 12V. I spent the rest of our 4 week trip rebooking into generator camps and using the 250W blanket as a trickle charger for the dual battery system. The Kings genny did work well throughout the trip running the fridge and topping up the Baintech power cell. When we got back to civilistaion, took the blanket back to Canning Vale store where they tested it twice, first told me the Kings MPPT regulator was faulty, I didn't use the regulator as the Redarc system had one. A bit of discussion with the manager who also tested the Kings blanket output which was zero Volts zero Watts before agreeing to a full refund. Shame it didn't work as the idea and portabilty was exactly what I wanted. Looking for a more reliable blanket for next trip.
Rubbish and worse customer service – The mppt controller was not working at all on our outback trip and solar panels in ideal conditions would only produce a few milliamps when running thru a new jay car controller, not the claimed 15 amps. We purchased the system in March 21. Kings gave us a refund of $59 on the controller, but said to return the panels when we got back to… Read more
Brisbane. We did this 6 weeks ago, but no refund as they will need to test them. I rang again 2 weeks ago and was told we'll deposit the refund today. Rang again today, we'll get back to you by lunch time. Still nothing. They can't even get my email address right after three phone calls.

Not a quality product unfortunately – Unfortunately this product has not worked since I got it. I’ve used it twice and the highest output I can get from it, even using a better quality Victron MPPT controller was 100W. Now, in full sun, zero cloud cover, the most I can get out of it is about 50-60W. If I even as much as touch the panels(from the back, not standing in front), the… Read more
wattage drops right off to zero. I think if I can get this replaced, I would rather it be a folding panel, instead of blanket, because this is not a good product. Attached photo is from today, full sun, battery at about 45%, however only getting 42W/2.6A input

My panel works very well – Used it in the middle of winter in Melbourne. When the clouds parted I was getting 15amps. Note I was using my Enerdrive DC2DC not the included regulator. For Melbourne during winter I was very impressed! Build quality good, very light and packs up small. Show details · 1
Terrible Product – Never worked from the get go, constantly struggling to keep my battery topped up that was only running a fridge. On a sunny day even through summer it never put out anything more than 3amps. I’ve got a 120w solar blanket that put the Kings 250w blanket to shame Show details

Never worked – I bought this product in April 21 and it has never worked. I thought I’ve been using it wrong until I came on here and saw all the reviews. We’re travelling around Australia so we’re no where near a Supacentre store. Show details

Total flop – Set it up for the first time only to discover it's barely over 3 amps even at shirt circuit, or when connected to an MPPT 30 amp 100 volt Victron charger. My old 300w panel with one side shattered could still deliver 10 and put this blanket to shame. Absolute waste of money. Show details

Just as disappointed as the rest – Pretty much the same as everyone else. Had mine for over a year. Best I’ve seen is 5amps now a bright day and getting less than 2.6amps. Had to run my hilux for an hour last camping trip to recharge the battery as the blanket was barely putting enough in for the fridge to run. I would expect better of something that costs over $400. Big trip… Read more
coming up spent good money on a new mppt might spend $20 on an old house panel. Better money spent elsewhere.

Bought the 250w blanket. Poor aftercare Don't waste your time!! – Purchased a 250w blanket with inverter. The inverter never worked. Got sent another several weeks later which also never worked. The amount of time wasted on this defunk product is a joke. Why you can’t simply return it to the store is even more of joke!!! Will never purchase Kings products again!! Show details

No amps – Used for the first time and worked ok not as many amps as you would expect only about 6amps in perfect conditions. Now using for the second time and absolutely no amps and producing only 13volts. Will be speaking to the store after Easter to arrange a refund. Show details

Disappointing Output – I bought my 250W Solar blanket in March 2020 in readiness for a trip which was then almost immediately cancelled due to COVID. The Solar blanket has sat in the cupboard since. The trip is back on for 2021 so I got it out today and gave it a test. To my disappointment it does not even halfway meet the 250W rating in full sun. I was getting at best… Read more
70Watts. I sat my 160W metal frame panel in the same place with the same load and was getting 120W easy. Back on the 250W Blanket, I covered each panel in turn with a towel and found 2 panels to be way better than the other 3. My aim when purchasing was to get more capacity and portability but now I'll just be taking the old panels with me. So I'm about 6 days out of warranty, I wonder how that will go.

Unreliable – We purchased this in Sept 2020 to charge our camper trailer 210amp/hour batteries via a Ctek dc/dc controller. At first it was fantastic, delivering 9+ amps in ideal condition, then suddenly output is barely 3 amps in ideal light. Open circuit voltage is a good 22v so I suspect a circuit break in the panel connections. Our old panels work fine … Read more
thru the dc/dc controller and as we connect direct to the panel output it can’t be a problem with the panel controller. I will be asking for my money back. We operate in too isolated environments to use unreliable stuff like this.

Find out how Adventure Kings 250W Solar Blanket with Support Legs compares to other Camping Equipment
Know better, choose better.
Low output – I've now used 3 different kings solar blankets upgrading in whattage every time i have had an issue thinking that'll fix the problem but all blankets have only produced about half the rated amperage output. The 250w blanket only gets about 6 amps in perfect conditions, even with a mmpt regulator. Being an electrician I have checked all other variables in the circuit and the blankets are the underlying cause. Show details

Adventure Kings sell rubbish – This panel only produces a voltage of 17v at Pmax. Meaning that, at full tilt the panel is only 3 volts above the recommended charging voltage, for some reason they thought, hey lets check an MPPT controller on this. For an MPPT to work, you need a much larger voltage window (that is above battery voltage). A PWM controller would have been a… Read more
better choice....
Don't fall for the marketing of the MPPT controller.... it's not as useful as you think on a 12v panel....

Adventure kings 250w solar blankets – I purchased a 250w solar blankets from 4wd supercenter. I purchased this 250W blanket around April this year (2020). The battery is capacity I am using is (lead acid battery) 138ah, and the voltage at time of the test was 12.1 (before connected to the blanket). As can be seen on the video (https://youtu.be/VxcVyP200JU), on a sunny day (at noon,… Read more
on 27 August 2020, Melbourne Australia), with no clouds/shades, facing directly to the sun at noon, only produces around 2.5 amp per hour (4.8 ams for 2 hours' charge). Disappointing. Even a cheap eBay 100w solar panel produces 5 ~ 6 amps per hour.
