AEG A18CHS14

Faulty after first use, Poor customer service via Bunnings on AEG Products. AEG Customer Service totally incompetent – I used this chainsaw once to do a light duty trim of a few < 50mm diameter small branches before rain intervened. A month or so later I went to use the chainsaw again, only to find out that the entire reservoir of my speciality Penrite chain lube had leaked out covering the bottom of the chainsaw and carton (which I had stored horizontally on a shelf). On returning to Bunnings, I was told that I had to leave the saw for return to AEG for repair, which could take up to 12 weeks depending on parts, etc. This in not customer service at all, however apparently is AEG policy! I thought that I had upgraded by changing my Ryobi tools to AEG, but sadly I was mistaken, as Bunnings had always swapped out faulty tool purchases on the spot previously (including a power washer which failed one day before the warranty was due to expire). When I googled "AEG 18V chainsaw leaking oil", it appears that this is not an isolated incident, with other AEG 18V chainsaws reported in reviews as having the same fault, including reviews on this platform! While I now have six AEG 18V tools, and it would be convenient for me to switch to AEG for future tool purchases (as had been my plan), I will never again buy AEG now that I have experienced their total and complete inadequacy in relation to any genuine customer service. The repair centre for AEG/Bunnings (Centenary Powertools) were great when I contacted them to find out if they could give me information relating to the fault (neither Bunnings nor AEG would provide any information at all, let alone sensible answers to basic questions). Centenary informed me that they sent a replacement as the one I had used for only a couple of minutes was beyond repair - The motor, drive and just about anything else inside the case was NOT REPAIRABLE - so 2 minutes work rendered this AEG product a total catastrophic, irreparable failure!!!!
