DeWalt 18V XR Pole Saw DCMPS567N-XE
MPN: DCMPS567N-XE6 reviews
I have found the DeWalt Pole Saw a fantastic adjunct for my garden. It is reliable, ergonomic to use and really efficient for getting up to those hard to reach branches. Thankyou DeWalt Show details
A bit disappointing – Positives Motor is fairly powerful although still seems to get stuck on start up, maybe the chain teeth are too aggressive for the start up torque. When cutting it cuts fairly quick Having any pole saw compared to not having one is very useful, it's a must have for pruning tall trees. Negatives Leaks oil esp when in storage. All the oil in the… Read more
tank will rub over the unit and on the floor. Never had this issue before from any other auto oiling chainsaw, other than a few drops. This isn't a fault according to DeWalt, even in the instructions it says to empty it. Seems to me they had a design problem they couldn't solve. So it's more convenient to have manual oiling saw than this.
Compared to other saws I've used the motor is quite heavy. When on the end of a pole it makes the saw less easy to use than others. Generally you need to cut at an angle so your aren't standing right under the branch you are about to drop so you have more weight to hold up.
Overall the saw is disappointing considering the price compared with Ryobi or black and decker and other DeWalt tools
A great bit of kit - with some limitations – I’ve now had a couple of hours using my new pole saw and I’m very happy with it. Like other reviews have said (on other sites), you need to get the chain going before bringing it into contact with the branch to be cut, and just let the saw cut at its own pace. It you try to force it the chain will stop - then when you lift the bar away from the… Read more
branch to get the chain moving again the chances are you won’t land it in the same cut (hard to see from a couple of metres away with foliage etc in the way). It’s just better to cut slowly and cut once.
I also bought a pole hedge trimmer at the same time (I’ll review separately). It’s interesting to note that the extension tube you get with the pole saw fits the hedge trimmer (which doesn’t come with an extension). I think Dewalt made a big mistake in not making either tool able to be used in a very short capacity. For the saw, once you have branches on the ground it would be good to be able to cut them up with no extension at all. And with the hedge trimmer, sometimes you just need something a bit more nimble to shape up close. Yes, Dewalt have non-pole versions of both tools, but surely they could have built a bit more versatility into these models (as other brands have done).
Despite these shortcomings, I’m still happy with my purchases. I might have looked more closely at the other brands if I hadn’t already been locked into the Dewalt system.
Chainsaw redemption battery great deal but not from Bunnings – I wanted to cut down a tree that has died at our house and getting a quote from tree loppers was in the hundreds so I decided to get this saw. As there was a unit on line from dewalt that was sold at $335 skin only which was fine for me because i have other Dewalt tools and it came with a battery redemption as well. When I went to Bunnings they… Read more
had the same model on the shelf without a battery but they wouldn't sell it to me because they said it comes with a charger and battery. I said that it was right there without a battery and charger i was willing to take as is they refused to sell it at that price and I should go to special orders and order it. I showed them other retailers who stocked it at the cheapest price but they didn't care. I left and drove around the corner to "Sydney tools" who not only sold it to me for that price but included chain lube oil for free and sent me a link and a copy of my invoice digitally so I can claim the on line redemption battery.
Super handy gardening item – I don’t know how I survived before buying and using this little beauty cuts larger and smaller branches easy only criticism the chain guard depth and design allows rubbish in, so it must be pulled apart and cleaned after each use Show details
A useful little saw for when you need it – I added this DeWalt Pole Saw to my growing collection of DeWalt tools in March 2021. I haven’t used it a lot, just for a few odd jobs pruning some chestnut and elm trees around the house, but it’s a handy tool for when you need it. It’s performed well, just as expected. The motor is at the top just behind the bar as in a standard chainsaw, while… Read more
the battery is at the base below the handle. Having the motor at the top rather than the bottom as is typical with a petrol-powered pole saw makes sense to shorten the drive train, though it does make it a little top-heavy. This makes it a little trickier to manoeuvre, particularly at full extension, and when pulling branches out/down, though it does have the advantage of weighing down the bar a little which helps it cut without needing to push it from the bottom, and works well in combination with the angled bar. The aluminium alloy pole does bend a little at the joints while using it, but that’s not a big deal.
Its power seems good, and being 18V it has the versatility to run on the 18V of Flexvolt batteries. I haven’t used it enough to observe run-time, though it’s not a concern when I’ve got plenty of 18V batteries. Note that the 4.5 m length in the specifications is actually the total reach, i.e. 1.5 m holding height plus 3.0 m pole. I originally thought the pole length was 4.5 m, so it turned out to be shorter than I expected.
Overall it’s a solid saw, I can’t really fault it.
