Over rated – Purchased the 58v saw thinking it was the cream of the crop. Unfortunately this proved wrong. The saw constantly cuts out with little or no load, and will re start after a few seconds. After heavy work, it will cut out and will not restart until several hours later. Now, the oil pump has packed it in. The saw would have only done 4 hours cutting… Read more

at best! I have spent hours looking for spare parts online, but there is little if any available. I have operated chainsaws for a living, and can honestly say this saw is way below expectations.

AEG 58v chain saw cuts out whilst cutting dead Banksia trees (soft wood) – My saw regularly stops after running about 20-30 seconds. I hit the saw or pull out the battery and re-insert it to get it to work a few more seconds. I was going to get a new battery but from what I see, it's the saw that is the problem. Better off with a petrol chain saw. I can cut wood for longer than what the AEG 16" saw can handle.

Zero stars - disgraceful business model – Have had aeg chainsaw for some years. Has rarely been used, but well out of warranty. It won't work, so looked up aeg service - Bunnings only. Took it into Bunnings - "do you have receipt?" No - it's out of warranty ... I just want to get it fixed "If you don't have the receipt, we can't send it to be fixed" Even though it's out of warranty, and I… Read more

just need to pay to get it fixed? "Yep - that's aeg policy" Notwithstanding that the purchase had to be registered originally for warranty purposes, so all those details would be on aeg's database?? "Yep - that's aeg's policy"

So now several hundred dollar aeg chainsaw goes in the bin having been used only handful of times because aeg/Bunnings can't/won't even accept it for repair. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN WASTE MONEY ON AN AEG PRODUCT AND STRONGLY WARN POTENTIAL PURCHASERS TO DO LIKEWISE. Don't waste your money.

started off great now no good – Yes i have exactly the same issue. While using saw it stops and will not start up again for some time this is very annoying as it is taking me double the time to get my jobs done. Returned saw for repairs new one sent back in its place. I was pleased with this response only to find when using new saw it happened again. Why is this happening? These… Read more

saws are not cheap my batteries are fine purchased spare and still cutting out and will not restart for some time very disappointing of AEG. Only option to throw away and get another brand. I get so upset of using my hard earned cash to buy tools that are second grade come on AEG do the right thing and put out a recall and fix this issue. Own up to faulty products and give us a helping hand it is un-Australian not to do so! Model ACS58B18

Great WHEN it works… – I have both the chainsaw and cutter. Both have the same issue - they stop after light use and may occasionally start up after 30 mins or so but often won’t work until the next day. Not a battery issue as have several and all full and charged. I’m not the only one - what’s the issue with the 58v power tools range? Faulty thermal cut-out? Faulty micro switches? Shame as work well apart from that. Show details

Surpassed my expectations – Used weekly on all manner of large standing gum trees. Well balanced and reliable. I really only go to my petrol chainsaw when I’m doing more than one tree. I really should buy a second battery! It’s certainly not lacking power and I don’t need to wear hearing protection when operating. Very reliable and I highly recommend this product to anyone. Show details

Completely failed on the fourth use – Purchased the chainsaw to take when camping. While cutting 100mm logs the drive gears have broken and it won’t work. Show details

Poor product - Poor AEG responce. Was a fan, no longer – We have several AEG tools, all with extended warrantee except this one, it was given as a present and hence missed the 30 day extended warranty registration period. Unit was great till one faithful day I sawed into a sappy tree. Of course it was just after the normal warranty. Half way through I turned it off and it would not restart. I did ask… Read more

for assistance from AEG, even where we could get it looked at would have been good but they just ignored me. So I pulled it apart, WHAT A SHODY DESIGN. As a manufacturing engineer there is an obvious error in the design. The electrical connection form the battery to the motor and main board are connect at the very base of the unit, clipped to the lowest part. Moist sawdust can enter from around the chain past the clearance on the motor brake straight into this area shorting out the unit. As you do not seem to be able to purchase replacement parts you throw it in the bin and I suggest by a another brand, hopefully they have better customer service and do not make their electrical connections in such a silly place. Really thought AEG was better than this.

Persistent Fault - Not Reliable – This chainsaw continuously cuts out and then doesn’t engage when pressing the trigger. This is not a load or heat related problem, as these symptoms are observed after the first cut or even straight of the shelf with a fully charged battery and cold saw. I purchased the chainsaw brand new from my local AEG sales representative in 2020 and after… Read more

approximately three weeks of ownership I sent the chainsaw to be inspected AEG under warranty.

After approximately 4 weeks, the chainsaw was returned to me and I took to a tree branch that was approximately 100mm in diameter. During the first cut the saw stopped. The issue was not resolved.

There is a theory that these batteries have an overload cutout feature and if you press and hold the charge indicator button for approximately 10 seconds, it will reset the battery. I tried this and it made no difference for me. I have two batteries and tried switching between a fully charged and partly charged battery with no improvement to the chainsaws performance.

Over time I’ve built up a great working relationship with my local AEG rep. He’s awesome, and he even offered me two of his own AEG chainsaws to use whilst mine was with the AEG warranty team. Well I had exactly the same issue with his two saws. I was stunned and so was my AEG rep. Three AEG 58 volt chainsaws and the same issue.

I am very disappointed that AEG and Techtronic Industries (TTI) have developed a product that performs as poorly as this. I am an AEG advocate that knows how to look after and run these tools. I’ve never had an issue like this with any other AEG product.

I’m interested to hear if others have experienced this fault with their AEG 58 volt chainsaws.

Excellent chainsaw – Great small firewood and pruning saw. It exceeded my expectations and I have hardly used my petrol saw since buying this. It's light, well balanced and smooth so it's easy on your arms. It's certainly not the most powerful saw out there but it's adequate and no one expects a 12" battery saw to be a powerhouse. The battery died entirely (no lights… Read more

or anything) after 1 year and 3 months, there is only a 1 year warranty on the battery but I feel it should have lasted much longer than that as all my other AEG batteries have. Replacement cost for the battery was $189 which leaves me a bit sour.

Light and easy to use – It cuts 4 - 5 inch firewood for camping easily, I don't have the petrol smell in the car, and it is about the most compact saw of the ones I looked at. Show details

Easy to use 'handyman' chainsaw – Using this chainsaw is a cinch. Compared to the petrol saws I've had in the past its 10 times less hassle to look after, better built, more reliable and easily as powerful at full tilt. There is no mucking around with 2 stroke, spake plugs and the never ending pain in the head that starting a petrol chainsaw is. Its pretty light and nimble which,… Read more

in my opinion, makes it a huge amount safer. I have used the saw on light trees and branches up to about 15-20cm thick with no issues whatsoever. The 6Ah battery lasts really well (about 1/2 hour heavy use), although I do have a spare just in case I need to keep going after a long session. Its good for small firewood, old tables, pergolas, mature lemon trees, large shrubs, tree lopping of any wood type (hard/soft/gum). Its not for full size trunks or chopping down large trees, but at the price and bar size you wouldn't expect that.

Fantastic Chainsaw, why didn't I buy this before now – I have to say I have not used any chainsaw before. The bunnings staff recommended this item so I could use a battery on multiple tools. The 6 ah batteries are long lasting and easy to attach. I was able to cut branches down in a matter of seconds, doing a yard trim in 30 mins (usually takes me 1/2 a day with the hand saw). Heaps of charge left.… Read more

Hot to heavy and easy to use, very responsive, and quick to stop in an emergency. Easy to adjust the blade. I recommend this product.

I am going to collect more of the AEG 18v tools for other jobs around the home. 5/5 stars

Great Firewood Saw Not A Large Tree Felling Machine – Have had the 12 inch, 18 Volt AEG cordless saw for a short period and am highly impressed so far. Spent a good period cutting up soft and hardwood branches (some very old and tough) and still had plenty of battery. It went through branches up to around 7 inches thick with no effort and little loss of revs. It is way lighter than my old McCulloch… Read more

small petrol chainsaw and of course way more comfortable than my Stihl Farm Boss. As for noise it is not as quiet as the Makita my mate has (nothing like a petrol saw though) but comes with a 6 AH battery which seems to give exceptional cutting time. I got the full kit for $399 and will get an extra free 6 AH battery from AEG (on offer from AEG for about 10 more days). I suspect it will have trouble dropping trees of any size but hey that is not what it is for. So far highly recommended.

Very powerfull – Very powerfull cuts like a knife through butter, easy to use, great if cutting here and their but for any length of cutting or larger pieces stick to a petrol chainsaw. Will cut large pieces very easily but battery only gave me 3 cuts on gum tree 500mm across, 30mins for battery to cool down then on charge for 1 hour then 24 cuts on branchs about… Read more

200mm across, ended up doing most of cutting with a cheap ozito petrol chainsaw while battery charging. For the price think i should have bought good petrol chainsaw

Lightweight an long-lasting on one charge – My old Husquvana petrol chainsaw is nearly 30 years old and still going strong. But it is heavy - and I am not able to hold it for pruning and other lighter tasks. The purchased AEG is brilliant and I have found little need to fire up the petrol chainsaw any more. With a 12 inch bar and long lasting battery it is very useful. The warranty of 6 years plus 3 years for the battery is also exceptional.  Show details
