Agptek MP3 Player A05ST
MPN: A05ST1 review
Pretty Good for an MP3 Player but some design flaws – This is one of the better mp3 players out there right now. However that's not saying much as the field is in my opinion dominated by cheap junk. These currently retail around $50 Australian on ebay. The pros: 1. Headphone jack is tough and DOES NOT prematurely fail. The jiggling of the headphones on many models causes the socket to break off the board. This is by far the most common design flaw you encounter on MP3 players and praises go to this model because I haven't seen it happen despite heavy use! 2. Bluetooth. Allows you to connect to cars and boomboxes that don't have an input socket. 3. Reset button. If you get into trouble and computer won't read player, there's a hard reset which (in my case) has fixed a problem or two.
The cons: 1. Lock system very poorly designed!!! To use this while moving around you need to lock the device. God knows what the designers were thinking but the lock takes a full four seconds to remove. This is an incredible waste of time! I hate staring at that lock graphic as it unlocks. If the designers are reading this - please please please can we have a fix on this? 2. File system doesn't organize alphabetically. So the tracks will be in a weird order. Another common fault with mp3players. You can use a windows FATsorter software to rearrange the device but I can't see any good reason why such a thing isn't built into the device. Also it's a waste of time. 3. Screen tends to crack. Despite the metal case the screen is very vulnerable. If you accidentally tread on it face up, it's all over. I'm sure there's a way to design it with a piece of metal on the front too, to take the pressure of the screen. I've cracked two of these so far. :-( 4. Interface is not the best. The goto button is on the right hand side and it requires a lot of use. There's also a second button slighlty lower on that side which is hardwired to the voice recording. Seems like the design maximizes the ease of being able to sneakily record people.
