I purchased a flight on behalf of my son on my credit card. I wont be travelling with him. Is he covered with travel insurance that goes with my visa.

Hi Jane.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. You would need to contact ANZ Cards to find out. You could try to telephone them 13 22 73.

Is the "free" travel insurance for anz frequent flyer gold really free.

What does it cover and does one get it?

I do have an anz gold card

I now have a Platinum so am not sure. Check the ANZ website specific to your exact card. But I believe the answer is "yes", it is free (apart from your annual card fee, and you must pay some of the travel with your credit card) and the cover is as good as travel insurance that you buy separately. It used to be overseas travel insurance only, b ut my Platinum now has travel insurance within Oz too. And also car rental excess reduction, which saves a packet on car hire.

What free travel insurance is available when I have paid for airfares and 5 day organised hiking trip on my ANZ Gold Visa card?

You probably need to ask ANZ. They have details on their website, though a little tricky to find. I can't find any Gold cards listed there at the moment, so maybe thay've all been renamed? I think the insurance can vary depending on which Gold card you have - very complicated.

My card got upgraded to Platinum, so that's what I have now.

If your holiday is in Australia there may well be no coverage.
