Worst tracker available
When I first heard about the new Apple AirTags, I was very excited. All the benefits of a Tile Pro but a tracker made by Apple and incorporated into the Find My App on all Apple iDevices such as iPhones, iPads etc. As soon as they were released, I ordered the 4 pack at $149.00. A few days later they arrived. I enjoyed the usual high quality Apple unboxing experience and pulled out the first AirTag. Pairing to my iPhone was a breeze and as I had already purchased a silicon case to attach the AirTag to my keys, I was all set to 'lose' my keys. I ...left them in the bedroom and went back to the kitchen. This is a distance of about 20 metres. I went to Find My on my iPhone and pressed the button to play a sound so that I could find for my keys. Nothing. I walked about half way and tried again. Nothing. Closer still - within about 3 metres and I could hear a tiny little tune playing. The keys and AirTag were under the quilt - the tones playing were barely discernible. Further, the sound only lasts for a very brief time. I put another AirTag in my wallet and did a similar test. Absolutely pathetic result too. Also, unlike the Tile and other trackers, there's no two way communication. You can't press a button on the AirTag to alert an iDevice. There's no hole to attach an AirTag to keys - a case is generally required to attach to anything. Over the years, I've spent thousands of Dollars with Apple and have been very happy with pretty much everything purchased. The AirTags are the exception. I class them as just about useless. They're all packed up and ready to be returned to Apple. I'm back with Tile, probably for good.
Purchased in April 2021 for $149.00.
